Tommy power I'm proud two say was my uncle a pure gentleman you couldn't meet nicer he certainly earned his money, rest in peace Tommy....cormac McCarthy.............
Music from an late 60s sci fi movie for sure, I noticed a TV Ariel, pretty safe not having a TV licence out there. Hats off to them guys it was a tough job
@@Fisher-King There are probably a handful of days in the year when you can dive there, but underwater here is like another world, lots of colour from jewel anemones, sponges and so on. Plenty of pollock, wrasse, lobsters and even octopus. The visibilty can be upto 30 metres on the west coast of Ireland which surprises a lot of people, water temperatures can get upto 15 degrees in Summer so a drysuit will keep you plenty warm.
Went there a few days ago with Dursey boat tours and id highly recommend it its unreal..The West of Ireland is amazing im a Dub but the West is just different gravy altogether and must be protected at all costs
poor Tommy, i could tell he was nervous during that interview but he didn't really want to reveal his feelings too much although the interviewer kept pressing the matter. It's like Bull Rock with its jagged edges, Tommy got tough ones of his own living there all those years and now its difficult to penetrate the shell...
You're working a few weeks on then a few weeks off so when you're at work you're not spending money then when you're home you can enjoy the time off with plenty money in your pocket. That's how you find men (usually men) willing to do jobs Like these.
Diggin the vintage analog sounds.
Changes the whole tone of the video.
Very cool!
Like The Warriors movie sound track.
I've always been fascinated by lighthouses and this guy got to work in one for many years.
Lighthouse keeper romanticizing
This is such an eerie watch
I enjoyed this , very well put together.
This is the kind of unnerving thing they'd show you in primary school back in the day
The sound design on this was chefs kiss
The hair on yer man, permanently landscaped by the fierce wind.
crying làughing here
His hair is like a giant rogue wave.
Ha ha ha 😂😂😂😂 so funny

At the very end having the camera pan away to one of young recruits playing an Oberheim or Moog in the corner woulda been a nice touch 😆
...then he could say 'And now, something completely different'.
Could have swore I was watching a Pink Floyd video for a moment there, incredible stuff
Very foreboding music. I was terrified!! ))

A fascinating job.
Great film 👍
I scuba dived off the Bull and the Calf rock about 15 years. It could only be attempted in the calmest of conditions.

I'm fascinated by the Bull Rock. Wondered if the tunnel continues downward or if so how far below surface does it reach?

Very cool video
This reminds me of the film SOLARIS
Great for the time
it would have been hard for some people but for some it was nice and peaceful 👍

Did RTE have a radiophonic workshop? This rules
Many a time i passed it on my way to the fishing grounds
There's a part of me that's always been a lighthouse keeper.
I wish they had recorded the fog siren going off would love to hear what it sounded like 😭
So would i
Makes a nice change from diddle-e-i music anyway.
I'd live there
I was waiting for John carpenters name to scroll across the screen, that ominous music sounded like the fog soundtrack
Exactly))
Defiantly a difficult life, hard to imagine the appeal of it.

3-4 weeks on and off better pay for Rock lights than lets say Crookhaven lighthouse
Did Roger Eggers take inspiration from this somehow?
Robert Eggers latest film 'The Northman' was shot in Ireland & features a hurling match in it so there you go!
The sea looks somewhat rough there.
I’d say he had a big problem with dampness !
Id say some connections to get that job
Cool Dr Who music 😅
That sea is like a washing machine
Is this the new #boardsofcanada track ?
is that an ARP?
;)
Track I.d?
Those guys in late 1881,
Producer #RTE find me an production where we can justify purchase of Synthesiser. #wickerman
Worth it.
It wold not be a nice place to be if the house was haunted
It would be nice company I suppose and it'll only be haunted by another lighthouse keeper so you'll have plenty in common.
I would love a haunted light house
By 1991 it would be automated and unmanned
The directors next movie was the thing🤔
Ah the old half a dracula hair style, off Ireland past.
Craggy island.
Whoever did the music wants a kick into the boloks ,ruined a grand video
The music sounded like a horror film soundtrack.
No women I notice . No equality in them days !
What ar u? 12
Strong winds seem to have shaped the man’s hair.
