a handy tip indeed David, go one stage further, remove the baffle again, put the nut and bolt into place, and tack the nut, making it captive, will make future removal and installation a lot quicker.
I stubbed my RC exhaust with the help of these video. I come across the following issue the rivet holding the existing end cap where really hard to drill I had to grind them down. and if you cut the baffle inside remember to drill another hole as i feel that it help with pressure in the can. I cut my baffle without drilling a new hole and it felt like more vibration where coming through the exhaust. I took it off drilled a hole and it feels better now. great video keep up the good work
Great work and well done 👍. It’s always a little more fiddly than it looks when someone else does it. Great tip on the extra hole to reduce turbulence. I guess that’s why the stock has the flare on the end. Skäl. David
I think the db killer has to be shortened, since youve shortened the muffler. The way it is now, its not gonna make it a lot more silent because the opening of the db killer is pretty close to the incoming tube.
Lots of different ways to modify the DB killer depending on the results you want. Shortening the tube may make it louder because it will reduce the amount of reflection before the sound can escape.
It would make sense to make a hole in the tube a bit bigger and put nut inside and wild it from outside since hole is bigger. Then grinder and job done. Not sure if i wrote clear enough.
Yes - lots of options for customising the baffle to tune it to the sound you want - this example is just to have option of putting it back to stock - which some people like or need.
Like it David. Would love to hear it of course . Stainless drilling requires slow speed good pressure and plenty of lube. According to the experts at work ! And i have to agree having struggled for years ,then took their advice 👍🏻☮❤
Informative indeed. Thank you so much for sharing the link of this video and for your quick revert. I own RR 310 single cylinder bike. As you know single cylinder bikes doesn't sound great, but still I was thinking to increase its exhaust sound by a little, not loud enough to create noise and attract cops, but loud enough to roar at high revs. I think I'll cut the db killer in half and put it back in, but still unsure of the results.
I have been waiting a while for this video. Thank you for your in depth advice. I removed my baffle but like the stubby look too. Unfortunately I cant make my bike much louder. So the option of a stubby +baffle should work great.
Funnily enough I have considered that 😀. Great minds clearly think alike! Could then weld a nut in. The break it back off and reweld it in the right place 😂 Skäl. David
Hello bro, this is a nice channel I almost got to see every video u have :D. I have a question, does the slip on exhaust designed for 2017-20 models Wil fit just dropped in 2021-22 models ? Thank u
Thanks, much appreciated. It will fit the2021-22 models that have the exhaust running along the side of the engine. It will not fit the models the exhaust under the engine. The stock slip on is the same but the connection to the exhaust was changed for the models with the exhaust under the engine.
MIG - welding is 60% practice, 30% skill and 10% TIG/MIG/Stick. To do a better job on this I would tack a tube into the exhaust cap to improve the seal.
@@MotoMirius if we drill 4 holes in stock exhaust without removing baffle.....will it be little louder?? Or atlest how many holes should we make to sounf it little louder?
@@kal1385 Any holes will make it louder. It is a common technique where the baffle is hard to remove. You start with only one or two and add more until you (not me) are happy with the sound.
It becomes as loud as you want it to be. I choose a sound level that is not as loud as it could be but is louder than stock. But noise level is not the most appropriate decision point - it is easy to make something loud, it is much harder to create something that sounds good as well as loud.
Thank you for responding but no. I was at the ktm dealer to look at a duke and we started to talk about akrapovic slip on. He told me that the newer versions had the db killer (i dont know how to write this in english) smelted to the exhaust to make it harder to take it out.
chiivu This video is about the new EU model of Akrapovic slip on. I haven’t seen the 2020 model exhaust but this is how all the Akrapovic exhausts are now. Try a different dealer as that is not an explanation that makes any sense.
a doubt........in the stock exhaust the baffle is attached to end cap right? So I feel instead of drilling out baffle.......we can cut the baffle after removing end cap.......is it possible??
Hey man I've got a leaking oil cooler line on my bandit could I send you a picture or video so you can maybey give me a little help with it, what's the best place to reach you. Facebook or email or ?
Yes - but it depends on the design of the exhaust, what and how you need to do it. KTM have provided a high quality exhaust here, often the entry level Japanese bikes have very cheap exhausts which make it harder - I have no idea what they supply on the Ninja 400.
It is impossible to rule out but KTM are very clear that their PowerParts Akrapovic slip on silencer which will have a similar impact to this requires no changes to a stock bike. This assumes of course that you have made no other changes. If you have concerns then I would suggest fitting the FuelX Lite (not Pro) to automatically make any changes necessary.

Oh yes, I’d highly recommend doing that. Loose nuts on these are a thing of frustration lol.

@@MotoMirius Yes it was. Another tip to remove the silicon I soak it in a bit of white sprint which broke it down. Wish I could show a picture.

Thanks Willem. Glad it’s helpful. Shouldn’t be too much louder so long as you have the DB killer for when you need it. Skäl. David
Great job as always, hopefully I will do that to my muffler as well, thanks!

You should weld but inside db killer for easy installation
Yes, but this video is to demonstrate that it can be done by people who don't have a welder - which is most people. Thanks. Skäl David
Fiddly but doable. You could elongate the hole on the baffle which would enable you to rotate it so it lines up 😀

Yes, this is possible. If I were shortening the exhaust and removing the baffle, I might well choose to do it that way.
Had any one tried older version exhaust on 2017 duke 390? Wonder how it sounds!
Does the 2020 Duke 125 Canada version have a cat? catalytic converter? Or is it only the bigger bikes?
All the previous 125 models have a cat so I ide be very surprised if the 2020 version does not. Skäl. David
Will it effect the ktm 250 bs6 engine if we ride a bike by removing DB killer.
Normally, this is not an issue so long as it the only thing you change and you don't live somewhere extreme like at the top of a mountain. Skäl David

I have and I probably will. But I don't think it's worth trying to ship internationally. Skäl David

The exhaust is the same on all the engine sizes, only the header pipe changes.
Give me extra duke390,250 exhaust, you have done?

Just a quick question. Are lextek exhausts any good
They seem to get good reviews. No experience personally. Skäl. David

Which muffler plug size should I choose?
Measure the diameter of the hole and buy tubing in this size.

Same diameter as the hole saw you used to make the hole.
