My mom (Santa Claus) got me this set for Christmas, 1970 when I was seven years old. Mine came with black boots, not silver, and a brown haired Man of Action like yours. I always wondered why he didn’t come with gloves. My capsule had the glow in the dark white interior. I played with this astronaut and capsule for hours upon hours. I still have my capsule and spacesuit 53 years later. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!

I have this set with the glow in the dark interior. I like my G.I. Joe sets. Never thought I'd be enjoying them still nearly 50 years later.
I have the Gus Grisham anniversary set. It's slightly different but happy to own it. Played with the original as a child.

I have the reissue of this set. I had the original as a kid and would throw the capsule out the second floor window of my house in to the neighbor's pool, then run down for the recovery operation :)

I do have this set complete except for the record. I'm still keeping my eye out for an upgrade to my box, which has great artwork. These are hard to find without the control handles broken off.

Capsule did not float. They made in the earlier version a capsule float it sat into.

A couple of things however
When you mention the items missing from your set you show the earlier “Space Capsule “ instructions and not the “The Flying Space” instructions and also I believe that the grow in the dark version was the 1969 release and not a sears exclusive. They had the one that came with the raft, oar and flotation device for the capsule. Thank you again for the great video
These adventure team sets were awesome, grew up with them had a few set's but never this one it's amazing that back then you could get them for 10 bucks or lower and now if in good condition a few hundred definitely treasures of yesteryear. Great review and video
It was a great deal, even with a inflation calculator it would be about $52 now. 12" figure, space capsule, and all the accessories. (The $7.99 price was listed in a 1970 JCPenny Christmas catalog)
@@ToyTinkerTim Great deal indeed. Did the blonde talking astronauts come with this set or was it sold separately ? I had that blonde talking figure on my eBay watch list several times but the bidding would reach crazy amounts lol. Thanks for your reply

Does anyone know if that space helmet fits on Steve Austin Six million Dollar Man? That helmet seems more realistic what he’s wearing in the intro crash.
