- In this video I demonstrate how to play We're Not Gonna' Take It By Twisted Sister. This was their smash hit from the album Stay Hungry. Eddie Ojeda was my earliest guitar hero growing up, and Twisted Sister had a profound effect on me as a young teen, that ulttimately prompted me to start playing guitar and wanting to rock. I remember looking at the cassette photographs and watching the videos being mesmerized by the band and intense videography that was shown on MTV. It that was fun as well as therapeutic to my young rebellious rock n roll soul. The song is a basic rock tune, but it features a tremendous vocal and melodic hook accompanied by fantastic drums and guitar. In the lesson I include how to to play the guitar solo along with the harmony part. Twisted Sister were a great band and were one of the hardest working acts in show business. I hope you enjoy the video and guitar lesson. Please subscribe!

That is one of our twisted sister songs in my bands rotation love playing it
Great song to play. Always goes over well live!
I remember when We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock used to be part of my band’s repertoire. They were great rock, easy to play (and sing) and crowd pleasers. We were a three man band and their stuff worked perfect for us. Great band, great memories.
More cow bell!
twisted sister was the first heavy metal i ever heard in my life and changed me from the day i first heard.
Pretty much the same with me 😎🤟🏻.
That song was on heavy rotation when I graduated from Navy Nuclear Power School. We played it over and over the night our final grades came out. Thanks for the wonderful lesson, and the memories, Marty. and yes, that's a beautiful guitar!
Great lesson; I remember growing up in the 80s seeing this video along with all the Van Halen on MTV...awesome.
MTV ruled!!!
Love that song. Funny, I thought I played it well but you demonstrate Eddie Ojeda’s embellishments in a much better way than I was playing them. Excellent stuff.
Much appreciated man! Thanks for watching 😎🤟🏻
You know that is one of my favourite guitars that you have Marty.
Love it😅
Iconic Shreds props.
dude your like the best guitar teacher on youtube! can you teach mr Crowley by ozzy next.
Thank you so much man!
Thanks Marty. I remember having to save my pennies to buy a cowbell for my little junior high age band that I drummed and sang in. I'd imagine mom and dad were fairly sick of that intro. Maybe the neighbors too. Oh well.
I can believe it! My mom bought me a white twisted sister tshirt in the mall for $11 .... in 9th grade I think I wore it 4 days a week for like 7 months. They started calling me Mr Sister at school. lol. I still have that shirt. It's as thin as Kleenex.
Fun lesson ! Thanks Marty 🤘
Nice lesson..thanx man...love the epi!

I am old enough to remember TS being anti-censorship.

First yo
2 Hey Marty, I have a suggestion. Teach us how to play tush by z z top
Will do!
Cool tune! Funny, I used to see Twisted Sister at L'Amour - the rock capital of Brooklyn - in the EARLY '80's, pre-fame! They were awesome live - killer loud Marshall tones. I always found the tone on the albums was not as good, kinda blah.
Who didnt have a giant Twisted Sister emblem drawn on the school book covers in the 80’s in Upstate NY,,,with a zofo on the back side?
Come on now!
And didnt want a black and pink bullseye single pick up shredder?
Man those early TS videos were on rotation on Mtv back then
Shit im getting old. 😑
Just tell me how they got that drum sound!!!
Do you know why this song resonates across generations? Well let me tell you why. It is human nature to succumb to authority. Also it is human nature to rebel against that authority. A never ending battle of freedom and not so free. The real battle however is, our God given rights and perceived rights given by a mere man.
Might i interject here: Eddies' name is pronounced O hey Da, not oh Jeda. He is spansih, and theyj is pronounced as an H.
You're correct. Watch my interview with him and we actually talk and laugh about it. He said the J is fine since that's how everyone has pronounced it since he was young. lol. As he states.... he's a New Yorican. 😊
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Anyone from NY would know the J is a H sound - you wouldn't call "Heysus" Jesus! I would assume Texas would also know!
@@AndyK.23 true man true. It's funny for me to hear Eddie pronounce it with a hard J.
I saw Twisted Sister in a club called the Metron in 89 in Harrisburg Pa.i bought a shirt that said Twisted Sister R Rated heavy Metal, a few months later i see Dee Snider testifying in congress about music being rated by the PMRC kinda ironic?
