So... We're worse off than before?
Labour and it's coalition have the nerve to criticise the Budget when they definitely used the last 2 terms to max out all available credit cards.. 🤔

This lot is not much better. At least hard working, struggling middle class has paid for the land lord tax cuts,

I love these "experts" high level Waffalage to try and convince us economics is difficult, NZ is fkd we borrowed money AT INTEREST from shylock and the interest is killing us, its that simple. money based on debt needs continual growth take interest out of the debt and within 6 years we will be a "rockstar" economy its been done many times before ,,,and every time has worked wonders

From what i’m hearing the video game industry could and it moving towards being really positive in Nz, we need to focus on diversifying into new revenue generating streams and this could be huge!

I thought video and online gaming was boasting about how profitable they were. That means surely with all the talked about lifestyle choices of being able to work in NZ they'd be the least likely industry to need subsidies. We got rid of them in agriculture so why not this lot?

When economists or anyone else talk about government budgeting as a piggy bank.... disregard them. What matters is home budgets.

I will never forget my next Birthday 31st July 2024! From 31 July this year, average income households will receive tax relief of up to $102 a fortnight. On top of that, eligible families will receive a Family Boost childcare payment of up to $150 per fortnight. Thankyou Nationals Nicola 💌

A totally neoliberal BS budget. $3bn in tax cuts for landlords - simply insane, which the poor get 0.
29% taxation vs GDP is low and thats why NZ screws over its poor and is becoming more and more unequal. We will end up with the same mess they have in the USA.
Its not a goal we should be trying to achieve. NZ is not improving at all running a neoliberal system, we have a badly distorted tax system (no comprehensive capital gains tax etc) and unsustainable immigration.
More advanced countries run much higher tax to gdp ratios.
That said I have absolutely no problem all government departments being run on socioeconomic cost/benefit basis to ensure their staffing and projects and funding is appropriate. Something National is completely incapable of, and simply takes a knife to the financials.

More neoliberal economic waffle. If people thought Labour was bad, this lot are not much better, as they have to borrow to pay for general tax cuts oops tax adjustments. At least hard working, struggling middle class has paid for the land lord tax cuts. At least Nicola waffle kept her job.
