This channel and the associated plans site was a stroke of genius. I'm glad that a new generation of woodworkers get to benefit from Russ' vision and Norm's skill. A platform like this ensures that neither of these legends ever truly die.

I agree. I'm starting the process of finishing the shop that my grandfather started several years ago and was never able to really finish....too hot out there right now to do much, but I'm gathering the materials so that I can start on it as I have time and the weather cooperates.
I remember sitting down with grandpa every weekend and watching an Episode of The New Yankee Workshop, and wishing I could build what it was Norm was building at the time. Its going to happen, and hopefully soon....as things start coming together for the shop, I already have a few of the plans for things I want to build....and inevitably there will be more plans ordered LOL.

Russel and Norm should be inducted into a broadcasters hall of fame. It's the true and genuine reality TV, including TOH, Tom Silva, etc. They have inpired millions for 40 years to try something new and work in the trades. New Yankee was on TV between my 12th and 32nd year, I probably watched most of them, and enjoy woodworking as a hobby to this day. Glad these episodes are preserved.

For many years, my Saturday consisted of watching This Old House followed by The New Yankee Workshop.
I’m not a woodworker, but those shows gave me the confidence to repair and build the things I needed around my house, and also gave me the ability to recognize appreciate well-made furniture.
I’m grateful to Russ, Norm, and the TOH crew for many wonderful years of learning and enjoyment. Thank you SO MUCH for bringing these shows back and putting them here for all to see.

I missed Russ' passing, but wanted to express my appreciation, if late. I loved his shows, they inspired me. I first recall watching Julia Child with my grandmother, who passionately believed I would be far more classy if I could only learn to speak like Julia. Then I was fully entranced by Crocket's Victory Garden, so much so that I made my father drive me to Alston (which was not at all close to home) to check it out. It was raining and a security guard took pity and let us come in--where we ran into Russ, who gave us the full tour! The garden was smaller than we expected, yet so much more productive than we could have imagined! Finally, there was This Old House and the New Yankee Workshop--which Dad and I never missed! That being said, I was soon off to college and there was a drinking game for watching it--every time Norm used a new tool, take a swig. Norm used a lot of tools, so I would make sure I was drinking ginger ale! I can watch these shows forever--they never age! They also take me back to growing up in New England, learning to appreciate my father's craftsmanship as a builder, trying out Julia's recipes with seafood foraged from marshes, discovering the magic of growing my own food. Thank you for keeping these shows alive! Much love to Marion and the family, may your memories give you consolation.

The New Yankee Workshop launched my career. I always loved woodworking as a kid, but it was when I watched the episodes in my early 20's that I realized the level of passion I had for it. I left chiropractic college and started a woodworking career. So much of my early work was based on what I learned from the show. It's been 30 or so years of running a professional cabinet shop since then. I've been able to raise a family on my income, and just a few years ago, I was able to employ my son-in-law full time. I am so grateful for the show, and especially Norm's ability to communicate the process in such clear terms. Thank you for launching me into a great career!

While I'm really glad you got takedowns on the really rough quality and dodgy bootleg copies, being in Australia I had never heard of New Yankee, Norm, or Russ before, so those few dodgy bootleg episodes available on youtube in the late 00's were what really got me into woodworking, and into NYW, so I'll still have to be a little thankful to them. One of the first episodes I ever watched (in glorious 240p quality 😆) was Norm's tool cabinet, and I decided that one day in the future I was going to make a cabinet just like that. It was a long time coming but I finally got there a couple years ago, using NYW plans which I bought, and then a few months later you guys posted that episode on here in perfect quality. Was wonderful to watch. I would have loved to have grown up with a show like this to watch each week, so completely genuine. By the time this type of show came to Australia, it was a one hour show filled with 10 different segments covering cooking, travel, and crafting, and maybe one in ten shows would have something around woodworking as the craft - but it was never more than screwing some 2x4's together to make something basic. Keep on posting, I watch them all. 👍

He was truly the first informational content creator. I started watching The New Yankee Workshop at the age of 10. Watching Norm teach me every Saturday on PBS made me feel like some type of father figure was there to teach me basic workshop skills. Rest in peace, Russ. Like many others, I grew up with This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop. I'm happy that the episodes will be preserved for a new generation of woodworkers.

If the videos don't get the AI remastering, that's okay. There's a charm in the original resolution.
Thank you, Russ, for everything. NYWS is a connection to my dad who passed when I was young. I named my dog after Norm.

Thank you for the update but most importantly, thank you very much for continuing to put these episodes out. I watched the originals back when they were first produced and they're one of the things that got me into woodworking. I've bought many plans for a lot of the projects Norm built on this show and can't tell you how pleased I am that future generations will get to experience them down the road. Thank you, sincerely.

I am forever thankful that this channel happened when it did, and I was able to rewatch episodes I hadn't seen since I was a child. I'm glad Russ had an opportunity to reconnect with the greater community and inspire an entirely new audience. They even got Norm to show his face! Thanks for all of the memories.

Thank you for offering this show as it is. Watching The New Yankee Workshop was always a delightful way to spend some hours over my weekends and now I enjoy just turning it on and listening to it play as I work on projects of my own. I wish there were more people like you and your team in the world. It’s heartwarming to know people exist who are not worried about how to maximize every cent they can get from something and are just happy to share what they have with the world.

Keep up the great work and always count on me to be here.
