The 6.4 truck hemi has a lot of changes compared to the 6.4 car hemi. It has a cast iron block, alternate piston rods and crank for increased durability under high load conditions as well as several other durability related changes oriented towards towing useage. From a pure performance standpoint the 6.4 is superior to the 5.7 but I've read articles from the hemi designers themselves saying the 6.4 is not a good choice for forced induction applications because it has relatively thin cyclinder walls. This why the 6.2 hemi exist where most of the reduced displacemnet was due to thickened cylinder walls to better handle the higher combustion pressures without cracking.
Clearly, the answer to "which is better?" is "It depends". For instance, I had a Challenger R/T with the 5.7L so that was obviously the better engine at that time. Now, however, I have a Challenger Scat Pack, so--purely by coincidence I assure you--the 6.4L has become head-and-shoulders better than the 5.7L in every way. 😉

6.4 and 6.2 have the same bore at 4.09. The stroke is shorter on the 6.2 at 3.58 vs the 6.4 3.78. So cylinder walls are the same.
M - Very true! Thanks for sharing these insights.

D - True. Haha, everyone is held to their own opinions.
sorry you are wrong , the 6.4 truck engine only offers 30 more hp vs 5,7 not 100
J - Depends on what variant..
6.1 > 6.4 & 5.7 all day/night 🤷♂️
R - Everyone is entitled to their own opinions
@8020Media true statement, but it's been proven time after time regarding reliability and durability that it's actually a factual statement.
