Hello, this isn't related to the video but my betta is sick but I'm not sure with what, she's just floating at the top and would swim rarely and she won't eat.She sometimes twitches and she looks dead when she's floating,What could she have and how can I help her?
Lifewithpets I Have A Question Is It Ok If You Add A Betta Fish With A GoldFish, Janitor, Guppy, AngelFish Cuz Actually I Like To Put My Betta Fish In My Aquarium
That was a great video! As a little girl, remember my stepdad setting up a community tank with a male beta... it was a slaughter. I love that channels are showing that, if done properly, it can work - and yours was especially good at instructing us on how to do it start to finish. Thanks for putting out great content like that. I am looking forward to your feeding video!
Just added a female betta fish to my Community tank. One of the guppies is a real a hole and just teases everyone. He keeps teasing the betta fish and I dont Think he understands that she could kill him,.
It's a trend on UA-cam I guess, all the deserving and high quality content creators are underrated. Tsk, annoys me a ton. Keep up the good work, you're amazing and that voice is to relaxing to me. Subbed ❤️
Great video! I had glow light tetras, a snail and catfish in my tank before introducing my female bettas. They all get along great. One female (Arabella) prefers the swim and eat with the catfish lol. It's really cute.
My betta flares at me and himself, I added 2 loaches 4 shrimp 1 guppy 4 endlers. He chased one endler for about 5 seconds turned around and they don’t bother each other. I re arranged the tank let the new fish in then my betta. I was nervous but all is good :) I’d say try and have a backup plan
The Betta in my 55 gallon tank that houses 1 goldfish, 2 Bristlenose Plecos, 5 albino Corydoras, and 13 female guppies with multiple plants was purchased from a big box store for $3.99. It was floating in algae I could barely see it was bluish and moved. I too did not let that water go in my tank. I just put it in a corner with a floating plant and sat back and watched. He was nervous and stayed where he was released for a day. He slowly ventured out more and more and he is happy and gorgeous. The goldfish was too big to challenge. The school of females were too many to challenge. The corys were to mild and quick to challenge as well as the Plecos. No problem as tank is LARGE. Plenty of water space equals peace.
Always looking great 👏 The water is crystal clear. ilove those betta.. very beautiful love the setup of the tank and the plsnts are doing very well. Amazed! Another great video! 👍👍👍
Wow! What dirty cup water! My PetCo and PetSmart are really good at keeping good water quality, fortunately. I finally moved my female bettas out of quarantine and into the platy tank last week. Quite an interesting experience; the red is more dominant and had bullied the blue so they were separated in quarantine. I rather expected her to be a bully in the platy tank as well. However, it was the opposite! The blue was so stressed being with several large fish that she developed stress stripes, flared, and displayed stressed, unhappy behavior, so she went back into quarantine and within a minute colored up and was happy. The other fish weren't even bothering her or paying attention to her; she's just a much more timid fish with social anxiety. The other female betta, however, was more chill, slightly stressed, but adapted quickly. She joins the platy at feeding and eats the flakes as well as her favorite Bug Bites. It's an interesting sight, actually :) she also helps out by eating the pieces of food (especially harder pea bits, large flakes) the platy can't (or are too impatient to) chew.
white clouds are best suitable for cold & quick waters but I've temporarily kept them in tropical conditions w/a female betta without any problems. she never attacked them but I think their high activity level did stress her out a bit and she ended up hiding in a corner a lot. Obviously each fish is different but might be something to keep an eye on.
I love how happy they look in a bigger tank. I want to add plants to mine but I guess it's hard to get decent plants in california that I like. I tried anachris but it died, and got my tank all dirty. I think I'll try a little foam filter and some other plants soon.
Murphy's looking great, especially considering his hard start. Do you have a video on introducing a "betta in a cup" to an aquarium? I've sometimes wondered how I would do that, if I brought one home from, say, Petco.
This was such a great and informative video! thank you for the awesome information. Only word of advice for a new viewer would be to segment the video by topic/ or discussion.. Other than that, really this was a great video. Thanks
I just got a betta shipped by a breeder. 3 days in the bag. I put him and the bag into the tank for a good 30 minutes and then netted him out into the new tank. Could I possibly have caused later issues?
Thank god its not as hard as it looks! My first time adding a betta went horribly, my guppy (all black with no bright colors) was terrorized by a few months old male betta. Its kind of like you have to keep trying till you get a betta that is chill. I wound up trying a recent female i rescued from petsmart and boom, the tank is now thriving even more-so than before I ever had bettas in the tank!
E. When it comes to different species of fish there really isn't a pecking order. If there's constant bullying of other fish then the male needs to be removed.
Ah good to know. I removed him as soon as I noticed the behavior. He's a juvenile and was being housed with guppies that are a few months old. Would it be worth a try to reintroduce him once the guppies have been sexed and therefore the tank population will be smaller?
Hey Sheila! Just wanted to let you know that Mr. Betta is 100% recovered. The 2nd dose of General Cure really did the trick. As I really don't know what was wrong with him, I guess the treatment was just the ticket. I did a 30% water change tonight and all in the tank are happy. The new tank mates (Endlers) are doing amazing too. Thanks for all you help/thoughts. Let's hope we don't have any more "issues."
When I did my research the websites varied greatly as to their care. Depending what site you went on the temperatures ranged from 60-74f. The ones that we bought were bred in and kept at temperatures of 78-80f. They can withstand a wide range of temperatures so it will be interesting to see how they do in our tank.
Ive look it a little bit more and as you said, it is true that white cloud have a big temperature range, simply because they are use to season change in the wild. If I can suggest something, it would be that during the summer, you keep your betta with them, but during the winter, you should gradually low the temperature. that would encourage spawning behavior (if that is an interest to you) and it would make the fish live a bit longer (according to my reaserch.) I think that white clouds can survive in tropical water, but as I suggest, not all year long... as they are describe as subtropical and even coldwater fish rather then tropical...this is one of my source, it's an interesting article about subtropical fish : «www.tfhmagazine.com/details/articles/the-subtropical-aquarium-a-cooler-kind-of-fishkeeping.htm»
I just added a female Betta to a 16 gallon with 4 female mollies in it. I'm planning on getting some rasboras so she won't be the smallest, but she is hanging around the top of the tank and near the filter. I recognise these as symptoms of stress. The mollies aren't bothering her, and it's on been a few hours. She grew up in a female sorority with her old owner. She was attacked by them after 8 months and rehomed to me. She's lived with Harlequin Rasboras and other female Bettas before. Is this normal behaviour? Should I put her in a breeder box type of container for her first night? I'm not concerned she will bully anything in the tank, just that she'll be stressed there. Then again, it's only her first day, some stress is warranted.
I added some platties to my betta tank. He got very mad. Its day 3 now and he is doing much better. I do think he hides a bit more. How long till he will be more relaxed? If he is getting too stressed I will have to take the platties out, want my betta to feel happy
My betta is in a tank with assassin snail and 2 amano shrimp he will sometimes chase the shrimp he’s ok with them most of the time and he’s fine with the snail although he did bit his siphon once he probably thought it was a worm but would he be good in a bigger tank with Corydoras
Can i put a beta into a community tank with 6 black and gold skirt tetras (Short fin variety) and one lonesome guppy. and i might add some corydoras probably 4
Hello. My betta was originally white with a blue glimmer under led light, with clear cellophane fins, he is also a half moon with black eyes, his fins are beginning to grow black on the part near his body and a darker stripe down his sides. Do you think he might be a marble?
Great video! I've been watching all your betta videos and really appreciate the insights. I have 3 betta fish now and it's partly your fault! Ha! I am getting ready to add some Endlers to a 10 gallon betta tank and this video will help a lot. Thanks!
Do you know if bettas that are very agrassive towards each other will be agressive to other fish? Or some that wont show agression to other bettas will show agression to other fish?
Great question!! I can only speak to my own experience. I have found that bettas who are extremely aggressive towards each other tend not to do well with other fish but those were it's a more half heated effort either tolerate or accept other fish more easily.
Thanks for this video! It was extremely helpful. I was a bit worried when my betta started chasing the harlequin rasboras but then he eventually gave up and left them alone. Keep up on these great videos!!! (^_^)
Hi Sheila! Help! I haven't added my new fish yet (expect them in today), but yesterday my Betta started acting sick...at the bottom of the tank, not interested in food or activity. Came on very sudden. No flashing, no clamped fins, he's a metallic grey/white Betta, so hard to tell if any velvet, but doesn't appear to have any of the other signs of such, no Ich that I can detect). Ate last night, but was still very lethargic/not himself. Treated 10 gallon tank with General Cure this morning. Normally fish perk up when you add it, but he did not. Thoughts?
3 weeks, tank is cycled, planted and no change in temp. Did water test this morning and ammonia is all good, no changes from last week. Ph is 7.5. Other tests in range too. Did 40% water change when got home today, didn't perk him up any. I fear he isn't going to make it. Still at bottom of tank and seems not to be breathing very well. I'm at a loss. Thanks so much for your reply.
Well, this morning he is a "little" better. Has swam around a little. But still at the bottom most of the time. Water flow is not too strong. Plants and hiding places are plentiful. Have 2 very small Cory's in with him. Used a magnifying glass to look at him and don't see anything. I guess I'll do another water change today and then a 2nd dose of General Cure tomorrow (48 hrs after 1st does)?
I have 4 GloFish Tetras and 4 GloFish Danios, and one Bristlenose Pleco in a 20 gallon octagonal tank. In the future we’re planning on upgrading to maybe a 50 or 75 gallon tank. Would this be a safe community for a Betta or are Danios a bit too feisty? I’ve heard they’re notorious fin biters which makes me wonder why I was told they would be best with Tetras rather than with Zebra Barbs.
Lifewithpets thank you! We actually went and looked at a 125 gallon tank and plan on perhaps doing that in the future. I’d like to learn all about doing a plantedsand substrate tank and how to maintain it because right now we’ve got the typical GloFish gravels and some more fluorescent items in our tank but I’d love a natural tank and to learn about maintenance on sand substrate and and planted tanks
i had my betta fish in a clear breeder box, she escaped and i put her back and she escaped again. i watched her and she gets along with the fish well... guppies at that, and mollies.
I've always been scared too, mine is a female, and I added guppies and she nipped so I put her in the clear cup she came in clipped onto the rim on top of the water. Now when I get new fish she might chase them to show dominance but she hasn't eaten or nipped any other fish yet.
A tank needs to cycle for 3-5 weeks before adding fish. Males can’t go in the same tank together unless you divide the tank so they can’t see each other. Check out our divided tank videos or visit our website to see tank dividers for sale.
I have an 8 gal ..31 liter aquarium with a few platys & 2 tetras and wanted to add a betta fish...I put lots of plants and one area the water is calm ....do you think this would work out? thank you for the informative video :-)
Great video but quick question. I have a red honey gourami in my community tank. Would it be a problem adding a female betta? And what fishes are comparable? Thank you x
I ended up getting her before I read your message lol. They don't seem to be taking any notice of each other. Usually do you notice aggressive behaviour straight away? Fingers crossed they get on well. Do you feed all your tropical fish pellets?
No, it can take a while before there’s aggression. You may be ok, it’s just generally they don’t do well together. We feed fluval bug bites and repashy gel food which we sell on our website.
My Betta fish(who is a Crowntail)had recently noticed that there was a Nerite Snail in the tank. At first he flared at him for a minute for two days and after that he just ignored him completely. He hasn’t shown signs of aggression when I place my hand in the tank either, if anything he always thinks he’s gonna eat. Could this be a good sign of possible tank mates?
You should try to feed your betta or " community fish " some Beef-heart.. Amazing source of nutritional diet with minerals and vitamins included in it. Also gives the betta and other fish a shiny and colorful skin. And I also would like to see you breeding betta's 1 day :) Thumbs UP for this video keep the hard work going lass :D Sincerely, Devilish Betta
To my people wanting male bettas in a Community tank I would suggest that you have a lot of plants and hiding places and I cant stress this enough, BUY A CAGE FOR HIM. Keep him in the Cage for 1 - 2 weeks so he gets used to the other fish. I have my betta in a 15 gallon tank with 4 male guppies and 10 neon tetras. I also have a female betta.
I need to ask you I see UA-cam videos of people having one male Beta with a group of females and I community tank can you put a male what the female or not because I'm planning on having a female sorority how can I how do I start a female sorority thanks for your help
I would not recommend putting a male in with females. If they don’t kill each other they will live in stress tolerating each other. We have several videos on starting a sorority. Check out the playlists and you should find them there.
Thanks for watching! For further details on the tank and links please check out the description box.
Hello, this isn't related to the video but my betta is sick but I'm not sure with what, she's just floating at the top and would swim rarely and she won't eat.She sometimes twitches and she looks dead when she's floating,What could she have and how can I help her?
Is that a Roman Emperor statue in the tank?
its upsy

I was told by a pet store employee that you shouldn't add any of the water the fish came in into the tank. Thank youLoveYour fishy fan
That's right. When I bring a better home I always change his water straight away.
Cossette Ervin that was my mistake and now my Betta has ich

Just added a female betta fish to my Community tank. One of the guppies is a real a hole and just teases everyone. He keeps teasing the betta fish and I dont Think he understands that she could kill him,.
Guppies is not a good tank mate male guppies confuse other fish with female guppies
RayyaN ReX did you quarantine your Betta before adding it to the tank, also would add the betta fish first or the community fish to the tank?
I o
I always get so excited when you upload new videos! I bought my first betta after watching them :) Thanks for all of your helpful tips!
Thank you!
Murphy looks wonderful I'm so glad he's not sick anymore!

Hi Sheila.. wow this tank is stunning.. It's grown so nicely. I remember watching the original setup.. Great video again. Loving it!
Thanks Deb!
My betta still flares at me and his worms. I'm not even going to try. I love watching videos like this though.
Lol.....sounds like a wise decision.
lol same here! My betta Benny wants to fight me any time I get near his tank!
Murphy is absolutely beautiful! Can't believe that's the same fish!!
Thanks!
You did a great job with Murphy , he's happy and beautiful
Thank you!
Love the swords and the platy as well! good stuff!

Always looking great 👏
The water is crystal clear.
ilove those betta.. very beautiful

You're always so encouraging, thank you!
Great video! Did you ever create the betta/community feeding video??
Wow! What dirty cup water! My PetCo and PetSmart are really good at keeping good water quality, fortunately.
I finally moved my female bettas out of quarantine and into the platy tank last week. Yes my voice, and thank you!😊
Your videos are always so helpful! Murphy's beautiful Too! Thank you
Thank you!
Thats good info it will help many people who want to put Bettas in community tanks.
Great video! Your 20 gallon long tank is very long. I like it.
0:30 thats a lovely tank
I love your tank, they are so pretty. Could you please tell me which lights you are using in you planted tank?
Thank you. We are using the Aqueon led light on this tank. I will be doing a video soon on the lights we use on our tanks.
Hey, I have 2 jellyfish, 1 angle fish in a tank. Can I add betta to it?
white clouds are best suitable for cold & quick waters but I've temporarily kept them in tropical conditions w/a female betta without any problems. she never attacked them but I think their high activity level did stress her out a bit and she ended up hiding in a corner a lot. What you feeding the Minnows?
I love how happy they look in a bigger tank. I want to add plants to mine but I guess it's hard to get decent plants in california that I like. I tried anachris but it died, and got my tank all dirty. I think I'll try a little foam filter and some other plants soon.
Try fake flowers and a lot of hornwort and Marimo Moss Ball.
omg I love your Greek ruins style aquascape
Murphy's looking great, especially considering his hard start. Do you have a video on introducing a "betta in a cup" to an aquarium? I've sometimes wondered how I would do that, if I brought one home from, say, Petco.
Not specifically that but you would do it just the same way as this.

Love ur channel and this helped tons my betta community tank is working rlly well thx to u:)
That's great to hear!
I have a 10 gallon tank with one betta in it. I am looking to add 3-5 neon tetras and 2 mollies to the betta tank. Is that a bad idea?
What kind of tank is this and light?
Very well explained as always girl I love keeping up with you and your channel 🤗🤗
Thank you, I enjoy your channel too! I am a little behind though😬
I just got a betta shipped by a breeder. 3 days in the bag. I put him and the bag into the tank for a good 30 minutes and then netted him out into the new tank.
Could I possibly have caused later issues?
My Betta flares at his snails like they suddenly scare him, it’s funny asf
Do you have any videos on cycling a new tank?
We have one on how the nitrogen cycle works, but not specifically on cycling a tank.
Are rainbowfish compatible with bettas?
Is there any way to tell the difference between pecking order behavior and dangerous aggression?
Are you talking about females, or a male in a community tank?
Males.
You could try as long as you watched them closely. He's maybe do better with few in a tank and females only.
Beautiful tank. I'm loving it.
Thank you!
My male betta Astro has been following my new betta Jupiter when I put Jupiter in his tank for a bit.Is Astro trying to attack or nip at Jupiter.
VA and JJ
You shouldn't put male bettas with other bettas...or any fish with long fins. Divide your tank and they'll be fine.
Hey Sheila! Just wanted to let you know that Mr. Betta is 100% recovered. The 2nd dose of General Cure really did the trick.

Thanks!

Lifewithpets Okay, thank you. Thats what id of thought. :)
Does the sand get everywhere doing water change?
No, sand is easy to clean and does not cloud the water.
What light are you using on this tank?
Aqueon LED from Amazon.
Thanks for this video! It was extremely helpful. I was a bit worried when my betta started chasing the harlequin rasboras but then he eventually gave up and left them alone. Keep up on these great videos!!! (^_^)

I'm so sorry. Everything sounds good. There are no outward signs of sickness? Usually water change makes some difference. Is the filter too strong?
Well, this morning he is a "little" better. Has swam around a little. But still at the bottom most of the time. Water flow is not too strong. Plants and hiding places are plentiful. Have 2 very small Cory's in with him. Used a magnifying glass to look at him and don't see anything. I’ve heard they’re notorious fin biters which makes me wonder why I was told they would be best with Tetras rather than with Zebra Barbs.
Some tetras are known for nipping bettas fins. In that large of a tank you may get away with it as they’d have a lot of space.
Lifewithpets thank you! We actually went and looked at a 125 gallon tank and plan on perhaps doing that in the future. I’d like to learn all about doing a plantedsand substrate tank and how to maintain it because right now we’ve got the typical GloFish gravels and some more fluorescent items in our tank but I’d love a natural tank and to learn about maintenance on sand substrate and and planted tanks
yay! new vid. love your videos!
Can I house tetras with my Betta?
Great video! Looking forward to more on bettas
Thanks!
Hi great vid, where do you get these tanks from in the uk ?
If you add a baby male betta in a guppy tank are they more likely to get along?
i had my betta fish in a clear breeder box, she escaped and i put her back and she escaped again. i watched her and she gets along with the fish well... guppies at that, and mollies.
I've always been scared too, mine is a female, and I added guppies and she nipped so I put her in the clear cup she came in clipped onto the rim on top of the water. Now when I get new fish she might chase them to show dominance but she hasn't eaten or nipped any other fish yet.
Where can I buy a female betta???
So I should first get the tank and the materials, set it up,get the fish,,and then put my bettas in?Also what if I have 2 male bettas?
A tank needs to cycle for 3-5 weeks before adding fish. Males can’t go in the same tank together unless you divide the tank so they can’t see each other. Check out our divided tank videos or visit our website to see tank dividers for sale.
What fish can i add with tiger barbs in 10gallons aquarium?
Kenny probably none. Depends how many you’ve got
I hve 3 tiger brbs, 2 neon, 2 blue tetra, 1 silver shark, 2 swordtail, 2 platys, 2 harlequin and 2 cat fish scavanger
Murphy was amazing.
I have an 8 gal ..31 liter aquarium with a few platys & 2 tetras and wanted to add a betta fish...I put lots of plants and one area the water is calm ....do you think this would work out? thank you for the informative video :-)
No, I think the tank would be too small to add a Betta fish.
Amazing video I will try this when I give Jasper a female guppy.
is it okay instead of conditioning your wather you purify it?
It depends on your water source.
Great video but quick question. I have a red honey gourami in my community tank. Would it be a problem adding a female betta? And what fishes are comparable? Thank you x
Gourami and Bettas don't usually do well together!
We feed fluval bug bites and repashy gel food which we sell on our website.
yay made it love your videos😍😍
Great video once again 👍😃
Lights off when adding fish?
great video ! he's such a gorgus fish
My betta lives with three mollies. He couldn’t care less haha. They sometimes even rest at the same spot. 😊😊😊
Loved your videos, very informative. Subscribed :)
Thank you!
Can I keep my Betta with danios and platys
My Betta fish(who is a Crowntail)had recently noticed that there was a Nerite Snail in the tank. At first he flared at him for a minute for two days and after that he just ignored him completely. He hasn’t shown signs of aggression when I place my hand in the tank either, if anything he always thinks he’s gonna eat. Could this be a good sign of possible tank mates?
Possibly but tank size and choice of tank mates make a difference.
I have two separate tanks with a male betta in each one. But they stay with gubbies, tetras, frog and snails. They all are happy
Really
Oh man. I didn't wait long enough
Super nice video!! Thank you for saving him. :-)
how did you cure velvet ?
We used copper safe by korden. It was simple and easy to use.
how long did it take to see results or change on the body????
can you put a male and female in a community tank?
No, they will likely kill each other.
@@Lifewithpets72 no matter the size of the tank?
They shouldn’t live together no matter the tank size.
yayaya thanks i really needed this viseo
Nice fishs
And what works for uzz.
Just havin a dig! 😂 great video, very informative!
I really like the Ornaments that you use, they look very ralistic and not corny looking! Where can I buy ornaments like this?
We got them from Petsmart.
Can beeta live with guppies?
Sometimes, but it really depends on the betta.
Love it ❤️
You should try to feed your betta or " community fish " some Beef-heart.. Amazing source of nutritional diet with minerals and vitamins included in it. Also gives the betta and other fish a shiny and colorful skin. And I also would like to see you breeding betta's 1 day :)
Thumbs UP for this video keep the hard work going lass :D
Sincerely,
Devilish Betta
We may breed in the future. We've got the goldfish fry at the moment and that's enough! Lots of water changes!!
Ya its a big time with the goldies yet bettas are more challenge full. Best of luck with the babies enjoy every bit with them
thumbs up 👍👍
To my people wanting male bettas in a Community tank I would suggest that you have a lot of plants and hiding places and I cant stress this enough, BUY A CAGE FOR HIM. Keep him in the Cage for 1 - 2 weeks so he gets used to the other fish. I have my betta in a 15 gallon tank with 4 male guppies and 10 neon tetras. I also have a female betta.
The statue in your tank looks like Saint Expeditus.
Lifewithpets Thank you so much for your help I love your channel I'm ur biggest fan and I love your fish and your fish are beautiful
