    • @Choalith_Ikanthe
      @Choalith_Ikanthe Місяць тому +3

Technically speaking, a regular Phaser weapon has enough power to glass a world, to sterilize it clean. I don't think it's beyond reason for a Lance-class Phaser to be able to perform planet-busting. It is definitely a weapon of mass destruction.
I will, however, disagree that it's the most powerful weapon. The Destabilized Dimensional Rift Projector from the Terran's Cygnus Class Battlecruiser is a truly terrifying weapon in concept. While typically used in small-scale engagements, where it merely shunts its targets out of the local time-space reality temporarily while wracking their hulls with cross-dimensional turbulence, if used recklessly it could cause some incredible free-cascading dimensional devastation. Imagine having a destabilized dimensional rift fired at a planet; every living thing beneath being sucked across multiple timelines like noodles through a straw wile being bombarded by levels of radiation so intense they can melt hull materials. Terran Weapons were always designed with a level of horrific brutality that is hard not to admire.
And then, of course, there's the mid-late 26th century's direct evolution to the Phaser Lance... the Gravitic Lance, as predominantly featured on the Universe and Congo class starships. A weapon capable of crunching space within its firing arc like a redneck squishing a beer can. A weapon literally based on the technology of the Tox Uthat and capable of snuffing out stars or inverting the material plane of reality on an inter-solar scale. A weapon that can be as narrow and clean as a scalpel, or massive enough to wipe away the entire Sphere Builder incursion in the Procyon System in a single, well-placed bloom of retribution. The Gravitic Lance is a what you get when the Good Guys decide to take a page from all those failed villains with their Big Ship And Doomsday Weapon playbook. A weapon that can split fate and the heavens, like the fabled Rhongomyniad unleashed.

@@eskanda3434 Out of the Federation weapons, the tricobalt munitions are probably the most powerful. Ships the size of the Enterprise D would surely include them in their inventory, probably kelp under lock and key in their own special weapons storage locker. Voyager utilized a couple of them against the Caretaker Array. I suspect that Benjamin Maxwell may have utilized on against the Cardassian space station, but it wasn't mentioned. That phaser lance is super wicked through.
Thinking about that Voyager episode, it took about 20 to 3p seconds for the tricobalt munitions to be ready for use. They're apparently not kept at ready-use status. I picture a dozen Starfleet Marines with their Type III phaser rifles being present when the tricobalt munitions storage locker is accessed, escorting them to the torpedo bays every step of the way.

My head canon is the spinal lance was built to not only punch through the shields and outer hull of a Borg cube but ' drill ' through several hundred meters of hardened superstructure to destroy critical systems such as shield and power generators or the Vinculum in one shot.

Oh my yes, it would be made too late to do so but if a few of those ships and weapons had been around then the war could have gone very differently.
But only maybe. The great battles mentioned in DS9 talk about hundreds of ships being involved, so if there weren't enough of those great lances to go around then the only real difference would be a better kill rate for Federation fleets that still end up being destroyed or routed.

One does not simply expect the NX-Enterprise to be a battle wagon. She was an exploration ship with defensive systems that were decently advanced given the restrictions the Vulcans laid on United Earth. The main reason she had issues was the species she met. The warrior races, Klingons and Andorians, and the more technologically advanced, The Romulans and The Borg, are expected to have better weapons than the early human space fleet.

I think the Dreadnought Galaxy should have been a quad nacelle design with thicker redesigned pylons. Then change up the forward section of the engineering hull with a beefier look that way you can imply that the powerplant outputs enough to sustain 4 warp nacelles and a new looking deflector dish would also further imply that Starfleet was aware of the shortcomings of the Galaxy-class and did a refit to rectify those issues. Of course this is all with the benefit of hindsight after having seen all the subsequent ST series.

It would need to be attached to the saucer section, like the (on paper) TOS Federation-class design, for that to make sense, otherwise it gets cut off during saucer separation. That's why the _original_ dreadnaught places the center warp where it does, to give a separated saucer warp capability.

In my headcannon, the Galaxy X's third nacelle was part of how they fixed the issue of the warp core breaching if someone hicupped anywhere on the secondary hull. In the prime timeline this wasn't necessary because they had the Ross Class replace the Galaxy Class instead of upgrading the class to that extent, and the Ross Class never had the constant warp core breach problem the Galaxy Class suffered from, making a third nacelle unnecessary.

Though, the Star Fleet Technical Manual, the first Star Trek publication which kind of started a trend of Star Trek books describing ships or tech, showed the Connie, and the single nacelle Saladin and Hermes and the 3 nacelle Federation class dreadnought (and the tug). Now though this isn't official canon, it was there from the beginning of Star Trek right back to the original show. I think the first game based on that was the Star Fleet Battle Manual by Lou Zocchi but the more famous one was Star Fleet Battles which made all those SFTM ships the first ones on the game. In that game the nacelles were the primary source of power (not just the drive) and the third nacelle gave you 50% more power. Likewise the Saladin's single nacelle required a lot of finesse to operate with half the power. And that's why I still have nostalgia for the 3 nacelle dreadnought. If you want to see some of these ships in action, try watching Of Gods and Men, a Star Trek movie on youTube starring a whole lot of Star Trek actors. You even see the Fesarious (or what is left of it).

Didn't mention the Galaxy-X's appearance in "Birth of the Federation" '90s PC game. It was a mid-to-late-game standard Federation vessel. Due to the game's limited combat modeling and mechanics, "number of phaser arrays" were increased over the base Galaxy, but no specific phaser lance in function, though it was modeled graphically. Additionally, it was rendered obsolete by the Sovereign in-game.

Well you have to remember with the NX Class it was a completely new design of Starship that was developed by the United Earth which was the precursor to the United Federation of Planets and the reason the NX Class wasn't as powerful as her successors from the Constitution Class to the Sovereign Class is because the said Class of the 22nd century was all new experimental systems hence the first 2 letters NX which is experimental like the U.S.S. Excelsior remember her registry number was originally NX-2000 so with the NX Class she didn't have the firepower of the other races her crew encountered because remember in the first episode of Star Trek:Enterprise the NX-01 was launched ahead of schedule with most of her systems still not installed like the:
    Pulsed Phase Cannons
    Torpedo launch systems
Though technically she already had torpedoes but they weren't as powerful as the photonic torpedoes she got before she left for the Expanse to deal with the Xindi but before she left for that encounter aside from the newly developed photonic torpedoes she received numerous upgrades to her polarized hull plating and her phase Cannons.

Some of the technology was built. In the USS Venture the nacelle phaser pods were installed meaning either Starfleet came up with some of the technology or Picard told them about it to be created. Either way, I think the tech actually was created, although maybe only one or two galaxy class ships were refitted so they are very rare. Maybe Starfleet decided it wasn't worth the work to refit galaxy class ships or as you said, there were not many left to convert. maybe it was drawn up and planned for the D, but since it was destroyed, never implemented.

Seven and Janeway use sevens knowledge of Borg tech to help destroy the ship as its going on a rampage. Perhaps a brought back to life Captain Shaw whos perhaps Sevens "Captain of Engineering" also chimes in and says he worked for a while building Galaxy class's for a couple of years and makes a note that about something in their build and if its the same on that dreadnought, they may have a chance. May be Seven also does a Spock, Combat situation, Janeway being the ranking officer, Seven passes command to Janeway of the Enterprise G, pro temp.
Just my idea and a way to bring the ship back. Oh and could even whip out an evil version of a character we already know, say Captain Lacarno or even Tom Paris for example.
Legacy is a proverbial fountain thats been wasted by not making it. Sorry for the tangent lol.

Galaxy X was in Star Trek ship battle game and someone who evidently got a bunch of information and made one for Klingon academy.
Galaxy X does not have a separating hull due to the Phaser cannon system and you can see the design difference , it's the same type of phaser the Federation Dreadnaught featured in video games pre sovereign class type 14 I think , also the Sword of Kaless class Klingon ship has the same grade in a single disruptor cannon.
These weapons are supposed to be on starbases and planetary defenses but somehow never used in media 😂 Kinda hilarious to design ship obliterating weapons and conveniently never shoot down a single bad guy when it matters 😂 I swear on Star Trek series you could invade any planet in Archer or Kirk's enterprise..
I have a lifelong friend who works on STO and I love the bonkers amount of ships in game . Never had the time myself but watch vids on releases. Good people and fans over there .

  • @TairnKA
    @TairnKA Місяць тому

You think this Dreadnaught is overpowered the ISS Conquer is 3017 meters long, 1389 meters wide and 132 decks, with quad nacelles, dual tri-chambered Laser Lances, 2356 “phased” quantum torpedoes, duel "phased" cloaking devices (Saucer/Carrier and "Battle sections), almost two thirds of its volume is hanger space that can be configured for various missions, utilizing advanced replicator/transporter technology (doesn’t require continuous power to maintain structure).
It normally houses 200 "Shadow" fighters, 100 "Spook" transport/gunships and has the capacity to beam down 10K troops from a contingent of 60K to 100K (all within 15 minutes).
Due to its mass and despite its massive power generation it can only maintain the equivalent of a Galaxy Class starships warp speed and its maneuverability is noticeably less than a Galaxy Class starship, but with its quantity and power of its phaser strips, one shot, one kill is possible.
Details (history, status, available upon request. ;-)

I'm of the opinion that the generations battle wasn't bad...
There are several real world battles where a smaller more obsolete ship destroyed a more larger and advanced one.
The klingons knew every move, every sheild frequency change and the enterprise didn't stand a chance against a enemy that knew where wnd when to hit them.
I genuinely understand why they destroyed it and get it was done poorly but ultimately understand it was necessary to bring the E into service and we can't exactly complain about that.
Besides... the D came back with a vengeance in piccard season 3.
A good send off for the old girl.
Still mad the fleet museum didn't have the NX from what i could see, if it was there and i missed it... crap.

First in criticizing the design we should acknowledge the limitations put upon both the set designers AND the physical effects /filming model teams were under, especially considering what they had was a one off model. These limitations are because they team immediately had to go to filming Generations after All good things. This means all modifications to both the set and the filming model had to be easily removed. It essential was the star trek equivalent
Its comparable to touring the USS independence and the USS Missouri in 1995
What the Gallaxy X needed was a middle section created that could fit between the existing connection between the saucer section and drive section giving the saucer section an NX style profile and a second warp reactor horizontally aligned….
Instead of the single MEGA cannon on the underside of the saucer the combined vessel should have had four more modest phaser cannons, two on the underside of the saucer section aligned with the booms for the secondary nacelles, two on the drive section where the primary nacelle booms connect to the secondary hull. Maybe a roll bar style photon torpedo suite on the upper side of the saucer section

I bought a that version of the Enterprise D , from the late Eaglemoss collection on Amazon . And I have say they are bad models either , oh I have the ISS Enterprise version as well .But it's a little bit smaller in size , so I have to admit was not a big fan , like at first when came this version of the Enterprise D from TNG "All Good Things " , like way back when the show was ending in the early nineties . But over time I have grown like it , and seems that was only time Riker really had the Enterprise , so was that third engine that bothered at the time . But it was from a earlier class of ship not seen in Star Trek ,it was in books from the classic show .

I still say that Starfleet should of design and built a new star ship for war and they could of name the class after a God of War like iAres, Orgun, etc. They should include genesis torpedoes for planet killer weapons.
