I've only had to re-learn how to play the piano *several times* throughout my life - from scratch. A sad fact. But, I really want to get back into it again and hopefully, this will be the last time I have to re-learn it again from the basics.
I am 60 and my grandson is 8 he has ADHD and autistic but very musically talented. I am learning so I can guide him as he learns from his piano teacher. He taught himself a piece of Fiera Lis ? but was not using hand techniques last week he learned how to move from c position to d position and a posiiton and played the treble side of Heart & Soul! what was so funny is he added his own part in the song. So his teacher played the movement and he played the melody but added to the melody. He loves to sing too. His attention span is not to good and he gets frustrated and makes excuses. So I am learning too so I can encourage him. I used to play flute, sax, clarinet and sing. Put music down at 17 and never played again. I miss it. I am happy I saw your channel. Now off to memorizing the notes. I love your style for the CUES and how to sight read. I am already kinda worried about playing with 2 hands 2 different lines of music. Hopefully you post something on that “how to not get overwhelmed playing 2 sets of notes”
LOVE Lisa’s way of explaining things about piano! This is probably the most comprehensive explanation (& fast-catching) of note reading I’ve ever come across.
I am re-learning how to read music. It’s been years but it’s coming back pretty quick. I love your suggestions on how to read it instead of the old school way with “every good boy…”. So helpful. Thank you!

Simply piano is a very good app -_-! I learned 5 notes and a song by Beethoven in one day...it’s really SIMPLE.
All The Young Artists learning How to read a note isn’t hard. Playing with actually Good technique is. I know people who’ve Taken piano classes for about 7 years and they still can’t play Beethoven but people in simple piano are playing it in like 3 weeks
@winter ride Me too!

@winter ride i

This is actually really helpful! It has been years since I was able to read sheet music, and watching your video made it feel a lot less intimidating. Thank you so much!!
Well explained to someone like myself that has never read sheet music. I'm just starting out so this will really help! Thanks for an easy lesson!
Trebel clef
Lines: Every good burger deserves fries
Spaces: Fries always complete entrees or FACE
Bass clef
Lines: Good bikes don't fall apart

This is so helpful, thanks!
Thanks now it's more easier to memorize thank you!👍😊

I was afraid to even starting to learn notes, love you approach, thank you
Unreal how well you can dissect and teach music theory. If I had taken lessons from you years ago, I would be Elton John
Damn. I knew nothing about reading notes before the video and after watching it I can say that I really understood it clearly. Amazing stuff!
Pov: you're here because there's a song you want to learn but doesn't have a tutorial on yt so you have to learn how to read notes

I just want to know how to read the piano notes in resident evil village
I’m 30 and I use to play the piano and flute when I was in 5th grade until 7th. I haven’t practiced musics since and I feel like I don’t remember anything. I’m now a truck driver and just bought a digital piano to keep me occupied in my truck when I’m not driving. I’m going to be following your videos in hopes that I get back to playing like I use to. I took notes while watching this video and my memory is beginning to comeback, thanks !
I used to sing in a choir, but unfortunately, my teacher never taught me how to read the notes... You're amazing! The way you teach how to read it makes it slightly less complicated. Thank you so much!
My music teacher told me:
For the 5 lines: Every Good Boy Does Fine (EGBDF) and for the 4 spaces, it's F-A-C-E, just count the letters lower or higher after that xD
Krista Kishi yes my teacher told me this too...but I had no idea what she meant...lol😂...
Ohhh cool !!!!!!
Yes, this is the standard way to teach

This lady is a fantastic teacher. And she's so sweet and likeable.
This is a great way to resurrect my memories of reading music to play piano. It’s been 40 years since I’ve played anything and this really helped me put the notes back in context. I thought I had completely lost this skill. Thanks so much!
Ditto!!
@@chelleisblessedLmao
You are really good in explaining simply that anyone can pick up notations very fast. Hope you keep guiding many like me.Thanks a lot
I haven't practiced in 12 years reading notes and playing. Just 10 minutes with you has helped me remember how simple it was the first time I learned. God bless!
If you'd like to learn about sharps and flats (and naturals), we have that lesson right here: ua-cam.com/video/Bh4YYNI-bT0/v-deo.html

I don’t now wut your doing but I am going to be in piano lesson
This was great, I been tryin to find out about "teaching kids to read music" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Foonlant Dumbstruck Formula - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great exclusive product for discovering how to teach your child to read music notes minus the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my brother in law got excellent results with it.
Just wonderful, I have been researching "musical notes children" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Foonlant Dumbstruck Formula - (do a google search ) ? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for discovering how to teach your child to read music notes minus the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
Cheers for this, I've been looking for "how to read piano music for kids" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Foonlant Dumbstruck Formula - (search on google ) ? It is a good one off product for discovering how to teach your child to read music notes without the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin got great success with it.
I use to know how to sight read but its been so long I forgot and her just saying "our musical alphabet runs from A to G and repeats itself" just saved my life and made me understand again
same!
AMAZING THANK YOU! I struggle with sight reading, so finding a teacher who explains it so well is super helpful. Keep doing what you're doing!
I’ve watched so many videos on reading notes and was still so confused about why each note was placed where it was. The way it is explained in this video makes it so clear and easy to understand. Amazing. Thank you
Thank you very much.. freely you have received and freely you give. That's how it should be. You are the best example of a good teacher who cares not about money but about teaching music to people who can't afford much. Hats of to you...
POV: you’re here because you used to play the piano but forgot how to
YES YOU READ MY MIND also nice Danganronpa pfp
Omg how do you know
I've only had to re-learn how to play the piano *several times* throughout my life - from scratch. A sad fact. But, I really want to get back into it again and hopefully, this will be the last time I have to re-learn it again from the basics.
Literally me-
You caught me
I am 60 and my grandson is 8 he has ADHD and autistic but very musically talented.
So helpful. Thank you!
thank you, i finally have something to do with the 1000 pound piano chilling in the living room
Damn your lucky i wish i had a small one at least
Same lol

Your style of teaching is so good that it resolved all issues needed to understand ledger lines for me as a beginner. Please keep it up.
This was incredible! I was in an honors chambers choir and my teacher couldn't teach me what you managed to do in your tutorial! Thank you so much!
Played/ lessons for abt 2.5 yrs when I was 10. You ** have brought me back up to speed with your practical and easy way of looking at the bar graph. Will be following.
Ah! Some basic teaching that I need! I went to my granddaughters piano recital, & it hit me: I want to learn to play, too!
I am retired, so I can make time to learn music!
I look forward to watching all of your videos!
Wow. I never looked at the music notation in this way! All I knew was Every Good Boy Does Fine and FACE, which was super confusing. Now I’ll be looking at it at a whole new level. Thank you so much for your superb explanation. I guess I won’t be overwhelmed to read sheet music now 😊
I learned "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor"
That was the most clear explanation I've ever been given about how to read music.
i’ve been trying to learn the piano and none of my teachers really taught me this, i’ve only gotten a hang of the G clef but nothing about the bass clef. this helped me a lot. THANK YOU!
I’m trying to teach myself how to play piano this summer !
Mateusz thanks , hope all works out !
That’s great guys!
How you getting on?

what a great explanation. I'm going to switch to using landmarks instead of the acronyms. I'm a senior who never took music in my youth and in recent years have taken up piano. I so appreciate your great, and easy to understand, explanation.
I agree, landmarks are the best way.
Why couldn't they tell us this in class. Would've made life so much easier.
I'm learning piano and reading music now as a 45 year old!
This was INCREDIBLY helpful!
Good Burritos Don't Fall Apart
yeah! I'm re-learning piano starting from memorizing notes and practicing scales. I don't want shortcuts or the 'easy fast way' ! I'm excited to memorize all the notes and hopefully one day I can play my favorite Chopin piece.
Hahah, going to do the same thing! Good luck, never give up, you'll make it 1 day :)
I love Side reading,I do it everytikme before I go to sleep its the only thing I do thanks so much for this quick tutorial
I’ve been self taught for the last few months and this helps so much!
How are you doing with your self-learning with the piano? Are you progressing? I want to learn piano, too but i don't have the time to attend piano classes
It’s going well! I’m progressing much faster than I thought I ever could! I use the Simply Piano app and practice for at least 30mins a day
I’m UA-cam taught
Very well explained. I am a beginner and thought this was super useful! I will likely re-watch seeing that I will most def forget it when I need it
I'm almost 70 and learning piano. I visit a tutor once a week but i use this lady a lot. She covers the lessons very similar to my tutor. This girl is excellent.
I've been playing the piano for 3 years but still don't know how to read notes... I just memorize the finger movements

Actually I came here after using simply piano and I don't understand anything thing from this video.
@@anakha1527 is simply piano good? Idk if I’d want to make that subscription.
@@kxtieelxtiee well depends on what you want to learn. I think it's just fine for children who wants to get started but it's not teaching techniques and theory. it's better to get a real teacher I think.
@@user-hu6bm9bn4c well learning to read notes and all the chords and its variations is what I want to learn, as well as improv
@@kxtieelxtiee I don't know if simply piano teaches chords but there are many helpful UA-cam tutorials. ofc it's your choice, but I think UA-cam tutorials can be just as helpful as simply piano
More than 20 years ago they taught me "Every Good Boy Does Fine" for the five lines and I still remember it
I was in band ooh middle school, over 12 years ago. This was so helpful! Sight reading is better than memorizing acronyms.
i have to study for a music exam, and this vid helps me a lot compared to other videos. the way she explains them makes it sound so clear
This year (2020); I am going to be going back to a hobby that I missed, in a VERY VERY long time! And that is, playing musical instruments!🙂
I haven't played an instrument in roughly 10 years! And I am VERY excited to get back into it!
But this time, I am going to be learning how to play the piano! I just love how the way it makes me feel & calm! I am so excited to play it!🙂😁❤️🎹
I would LOVE to learn to read music so that I can understand the song I am play the songs I want to play!🙂
Good Luck 🤞🏼❤️
So how's it going now? :)
Thank you for this video! I played piano and clarinet in junior high, but I'm 68 now and trying to re-learn piano. I'd forgotten how to read the notes on the F clef (and even what the F/bass clef was called!). Now that you've shown me the correct notes, it's going to help me so much! My husband just bought me a new piano so I'm ready to go! Thanks again!
This is very good, thankyou.
I'm finding that mnemonics have, at best, slowed down my learning. But the landmarks really do help.
I used to be bad at playing piano. Now I play like a pro! Get some great piano lessons here:
==> HootPiano.xyz
Agreed this was so much easier for memto grasp
The same with me. Mnemonics have definitely slowed me down.
I'm just learning and each time I have to go back from C to count it. This pattern recognition is so much easier for me! Lisa, thank you!
I remember as a young lad. learning the lines and spaces was relatively easy. Teachers taught this well! What was a tad more complex was learning to coordinate reading that and playing it on the piano! THAT is where the fun (craziness) began.........:) An excellent lesson as always!!!!!!
I've rewatched this video constantly and memorized the "EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FUDGE" & "Faces in the spaces" your video ties it all together- I'm hoping to not be yelled at so much in the choir loft as I sing by ear but want to technically be better. Thank you for your patience
your are so far the best teacher and you look sassy . aaannd i look forward for more of your lessons

So far you are one of the best tutorial I've seen, very excellent in your explanation. Easy to comprehend, I'm 63 years old and I've always wanted to learn how to play the 🎹 piano. After hearing your tutorial, definitely I am all in. Thanks soooo much!❣️
never touched a piano til 2 weeks ago but did choir for 9 years. this is basically the same thing & that made it much easier to understand!!
I feel so validated! I teach piano about the same way. Thank you.
