Lol yeah. Alexandra took it very personal what Dina said, but Dina didn't mean it so literally. She didn't call Alex an "ugly wall", she just meant the ferrari crashed into an "ugly wall" where the ferrari is Andrea's playstyle, and the ugly wall is Alexandra's defense. But it is understandable to be a bit tense after playing a great game sitting there for hours and then hearing that after the game
@@laurasanchez7105 Frankly...IMO...they both need to stop with the sh##-stirring. Alexandra "clearly" is aware of it and doesn't like it (to say the least). This erroneous notion that Andrea is this super-GM (if she would just study) in sheep's clothing is bizarre. Every single chessplayer in the history of the game has had a great position after twenty moves and gone down in flames. Every...single...one. Including Carlsen. This nonsense about real chessplayers not talking after a tense battle is also nonsense...as we often see dialogue between super-GM's after hard fought games (see the very recent Candidates tournament 2024).
This thing was cute for awhile but it has slowly morphed into something ugly. Alexandra responded appropriately. Congratulations to her.

@@laurasanchez7105 Technically true - Dina was saying that Andrea's gameplay, not Andrea herself, was like a Ferrari crashing at full speed into the wall of Alexandra's defense. But Dina was not so explicit in the way she said it, and taking it in the worst possible way makes for better content. I don't think Alex is really taking it badly; she is playing into it for the content.
No matter what you say ......... one of the sisters will be pissed - so better say nothing!

I loved the post match interview! The personality clashes mixed with subtle sarcasm and the evident factions was great from a spectator standpoint.
Alexandre is on fire at the moment,she's playing really well,she is favourite to win this tournament now in my opinion,but still a lot of rounds left,Andrea definitely has potential to be a 2000 plus player,the way Alexandre is playing if she continues to improve I really think she could get to 2200! I really don't like Dinas condescending style and unnecessary drama she tries to create. Hammer on the other hand is a perfect combination of instructive chess, good sense of humour and chat interaction.
Hammer is so cool. He should do more instructive chess content on his stream channel.

Dina’s advice and points, when she puts her expert hat on, have been great - but the drama and digression ‘for content’ seems a bit forced and is a tad irritating when moves played in the games aren’t being picked up and Hammer is sat there clearly irritated and waiting for her to come back into the room lol

At first, I thought Alex was being a bit harsh on Dina but as the post conference went on, it's easy to see there is some underlying tension between these two. So Glad I made it, Wow! just loved this important game. Magnificent! profiles in so many ways.
Props for the fact that both the commentators are commentating in their non native languages. Keeping convos going and focusing on the game in a second language can't be easy
I honestly had to drop out of the stream because Dina kept building this aggressive narrative. It was fun once. It was okay twice. Hours of "I'm not impressed, Hammer's fault, bad prep" and all that extra stuff about Andrea not wanting to talk to people... it was just too much made up drama and detracted from the game.
Just my 2c but it was way too much.
Right! Occasionally being sarcastic ....... everyone is sometimes but every tournament, every game the whole time reveals a condescending character.

And when it was done, all she did was say negative things about alex. Alex was visibly mad. I'm suree they talked off camera cause after that, things were fine

Then when when Hammer and Dina were actually kind of annoyed and like "well you can't be upset you're losing if you refuse to adapt" she knew they were right and walked back on it.

She didn't mean it like that. The ugly wall part wasn't all that deep. It was just Andrea's ferrari crashing into an (ugly) wall. Just an analogy of a beautiful thing crashing into a wall really, not calling her ugly. And Dina just stands by the things she says. She knows how she meant it, and it's not meant to be disrespectful
@@laurasanchez7105 Point is that, unlike Andrea, Alex's beauty is partly dependent on how you look at her, she's not classically pretty. If you look at her as if she were ugly she kinda is, at least to some degree / partly. So, it's rather impolite of Dina to make such a comment (emotional intelligence is not her strong suit).

I think she needs to start playing some open games. I've played against players that started out and have played nothing but the London. The problem is anything that deviates from the London formula throws them off, and when given a chance to attack, their lack of opening knowledge and lack of experience with how to attack comes back to bite them, as it did with Andrea. She had no idea what to do with the h-pawn and couldn't evaluate it incorrectly. She was just pushing it because it looked like an attacking move. I don't think I've ever lost to the London, and when I do a Dutch Leningrad setup, I typically win fairly easily.
Why does Dina try to create this unnecessary narrative or drama
Probably trying to get some banter going on with GM Hammer for entertainment, but it gets super awkward when she insists on doing it when the other person isn't reciprocating the vibes.

Andrea played a really good game. I could see her winning next time. The match was exciting I think both played well. There was no talk of huge blunders. I liked the commentary but I'm not a chess player.
