A couple of suggestions, Just grab the end and rotate clockwise! don't touch the rod at all! Also lube isn't necessary because most new gas springs come pre-lubed! But the most important thing to remember "Always mount with cylinder above the Rod!" it keeps the seals lubricated! Otherwise you'll have premature failure! Nice video!
Thank you Partsam for the video! Thank you ctsimaging for the additional information. All of it was correct! With this information, I was able to ignore the instructions that came with the supports!
Thank youuu...The Pliers with a washcloth worked perfect. Didn't know I could rotate the heads..Was about to send them back. Works like a charm now! thx
Thanks man, the instructions that came with them were not clear. Hood and hatchback replacement struts for a C6 Corvette for $50 from Amazon, I won the game!
Thats exactly whats wrong with mine Thank you!!! What would you suggest useing or doing to keep the door up while changing them out.? So ready to take a bat to that door after nearly breaking my back while loading groceries!
I removed he clips then had one heck of a time putting back once the strut was attached. I should have checke your vdeo out first. My wife calls me el bobo de la yuca
I have a classic Corvette. If I were to smack them in as you do, I would break the glass. Don't smack in, don't force them at all. Pull the clips out until they stay retracted and gently push them on, then push the clips back in place.
I took the old SUSPA ones off, re-installed the new SUSPA ones & my Tonneau Cover would NOT go down, I applied a little pressure & that caused the attach brackets to bend... I am one unhappy camper & my problem is NOT solved...
I really appreciated this how to, dealer wanted altogether $256, got struts on amazon for $25, watched this and another video and saved $225

Thank you so much for this video. You saved me over $200 by me replacing these myself as opposed to getting it done at the dealership!!

My gas lift spring cannot be compressed. Any ideas?
@@bruceramsland are you trying to compress it by hand? I couldn't do it with all my weight, but once attached to the car it worked fine.
