I honestly really liked it because not only was it so natural that it was seen less I also liked it cause it was one of the first times that i saw interracial couple in childrens cartoons and me being mixed really appreciated it since i hadnt seen something like it before Planet sheen ruined all that good will
The interracial aspect is something I needed to see more shows to confirm but yes. It wasn't highlighted the way other relationships with specific identities are today, which is sorely missed.
One thing I appreciated about this show and Libby in particular is that while she's the 'cool girl' she doesn't have a problem hanging out with Sheen. She doesn't bully him or tease him except for the occasional snarky remark. This is contrast to Cindy and Jimmy who can barely stand being in the same room from time to time.
I never saw the later episodes where they became an actual couple, but I do remember the deserted island episode. They got along so well because they were stuck with each other for so long.
Also, I'd just like to add that Libby as a character was such a refreshing exception to the "token angry black girl" stereotype that was so common in this era- and if anything, Libby was the straight man (girl?) to Cindy's hair trigger temper. That was way ahead of its time tbh
I do agree. However, I do feel like they still make her the typical sassy black girl best friend which we still kind of do to this day and at times feels like the only characterization we give to black female characters 🤔.
That's why I ended up liking Libby when she developed into the member of Jimmy's group who would call out the groups BS instead of just being Cindy 2.0 who liked music like she was early on. While also just being levelheaded in general, there are times where Libby is written to be a jerk, but that's common with all of the characters on the show except maybe Sheen and Jimmy's parents. And while annoying, Libby's bad moments don't outweigh her good ones. She is a refreshing change of pace from how stereotypical angry black woman. She isn't defined by her color either, which is nice that she is a POC main character not defined by colorism or stereotype.
Finally “Shibby” love lol. Also loved this when I was a kid. As a black girl I automatically gravitated towards Libby. I love that she was laid-back, not loud or hotheaded, and she was chill and confident, that type of representation without commentary is missed😩And Sheen was one of my first cartoon crushes lol💀😂
I know right, along with Numbuh 3 and 4, this was my first ship, before I even knew what shipping was. I'm so excited that there's a video about them and to see other fans of the ship!
Side couples are always better as their romance isn't the drive of the story or plot. Sheen and libby are more casual and can work together just fine when jimmy and cindy argue or clash. Though i thought the joke for the title was sheen getting a dommy mommy while carl was attracted to older women and Jimmy with a tsundere if we go by how the internet has become
@@troin3925 yeah they also keep it semi casual and work great together. Mordicai his problem was he tried too hard and didn't know what he wanted. Though Margret isn't as good either being two face sometimes Main couples usually gotta be the important part of the story so they lack being cool and not fighting or being shy
A thing that always caught my attention is that Libby showed continuous interest in fashion and often arranged her own outfits, and guess who turned out to be a supermodel on the Tomorrow Boys episode? That girl single handily managed to turn the ADHD little weirdo into her own personal mannequin, and he loves every second of it.
Honestly growing up I always loved these two. There was zero doubt Sheen loved Libby, and would do anything she asked. It was honestly charming how he would do this for her. I also liked how Libby despite thinking Sheen can be weird at times does indeed care about him. She also never attempts to change him. Sure she tries to make sure he isnt 100%(making sure he takes his medicine is a good thing) crazy but she never tries to make him into something she isnt. She accepts and likes he is weird. To me it was one of the best portrayals of a healthy relationship Jimmy and Cindy was honestly toxic, even after they admitted they like one another.
I don't think Jimmy and Cindy were toxic. In the episode stranded, it showed Jimmy and Cindy argued so much to keep others from realizing they like each other. I think what takes points from them is the same reason in a sense. We know they they like one another, they should just make it official. It's understandable in the beginning. But once it was confirmed they like one another, their arguments should've dropped by alot. I mean that is they are still competitive and other times, it's probably due to Jimmy's invention that could potentially become dangerous. Though I do wish they went with the Jimmy x Cindy x April love triangle.
I feel like it actually makes MORE sense that the weird, funny best friend characters would have the healthiest relationships. They are purely themselves, and intune with their wants and needs. Authenticity makes for easy and clear communication, and creates a safe space for others to show up as thier purest selves. This lays a perfect foundation for a healthy relationship.
Libby was black excellence before it was even a thing. I remember her wearing braids proudly made me want to wear braids. Edit: I was today years old to find out Sheen was Latino. Had no idea he was Sheen Estevez.
Early 2000s was so much better than nowadays, Original black characters with a actual personality… I miss it 😢 As a black person, the only western black character I relate to nowadays is probably miles morales… and that’s probably it, we either get race changes or a overly political black character that’s probably heavily stereotypical.
Honestly I find this exact moment to be cute, hilarious and unfortunately relatable 😂😂 The amount of times I'll be talking my head off only for my boyfriend to ask if I took my medicine today😅
more examples of Sheen and Libby's relationship (including her reciprocating, and her meaning more to him than Ultra Lord) is in the love pheramone episode yes, a big part of the episode is him falling in love with her due to the love pheramone...he even gives her his most prized ultra lord, with the Melty Face that means a lot to him. he explains why it means so much and she thinks it's super sweet then near the end of the episode, when all the stuff has worn off, she still goes out of her way to sneakily show him that she kept it, and smiles, implying it really meant a lot to her and she wanted him to know it.
Of kids shows, I genuinely believe that that scene is the most romantic scene ever. I still remember the lines when he gave her melty face I think. Without looking it up "He was my very first Ultralord figure. He had a horrible accident, but he's still my favorite!" Wow and you're just giving him to me?" That plus the scene you mentioned, idk they're just so cute/romantic scenes haha. I still watch that episode every Valentine's Day
My favorite Sheen moment is when he is distracting a guard with Ballon animals The guard finds out and Sheen throws the ballon animals at the guard saying "Attack my Children!" Legit the funniest moment in the shwo
Now that you've pointed out all of this, yeah, Sheen & Libby's relationship was ahead of it's time and went underappreciated. It was wasn't toxic nor one-sided like most ships in back then and kinda like now. Well researched Jay.
I could pretty easily see Sheen as being autistic too, in addition to having ADD. He has the difficulty with understanding other people and being understood, and by this I mean further from just him being hyperactive. As well as stuff like taking stuff like advice so literal like the book from the comic mentioned in the video..He also has a hyperfixation in the form of Ultralord.
Interesting! I also think he may have Bipolar Disorder. Theoretically of course. I can’t remember the episode, but one of the villains referred to Sheen as “the manic one”.
As a Hispanic man with ADHD who found a black woman who not only puts up with my spaziness, but appreciates me for it, Libbey x Sheen is like watching us when we were younger 😊
I think it said on one of the wikis that from the Tomorrow Boy episode thing was when he returned back from the planet forever and he fixed it with Libby. And then after that they both got better I think. Hope that is true which would have a happy ending from both of them
The fact that all Sheen needed to gain confidence and win the kung fu battle was to hear Libby call herself his girlfriend has always stuck with me. 💖💖 That scene absolutely blew my mind as a kid.
Sheen and Libby never got enough screen time. They were absolutely adorable. And in the episode Tomorrow Boys when he declares he won’t let her become a dictator and her acknowledging that at the end of the episode by thanking him for doing everything he could to make sure she stayed the way she was. Man that was so sweet. We don’t need to talk about how they ruined this in Planet Sheen.
Sheen and Libby seem like such a genuine couple too. Sheen’s weird, she knows that, and she embraces it. Also the tiger in Sheen’s eye when she calls herself his girlfriend his legitimately both hilarious and adorable.
5:40 I like the fact that on one hand Libby has royalty in her lineage and can use her authority for good, while on the other hand she can easily become a dictator in the future. I kinda wish they dived more into this story-wise.... and yes I am saying that simply to see more of dictator Libby.
I remember shipping them all the time when I was a kid, they gave off a “we’re opposites and we like it” couple vibe when I was little. I loved that kind and wished they had more episodes focused on those two
I just love that we were able to have a POC couple early on who didn't really fit into typical stereotypes While you can argue that Sheen does fit, I disagree I didn't really see a lot of Hispanic kids that weren't always spouting Spanish every 3 seconds to remind you that they're Hispanic And the fact that Libby was the straight man and wasn't the sassy angry black girl? Perfect What I loved more was how they accepted each other and how just overall in love they were it was just so cute they were my otp
Yessss, I think it's more that the characters written weren't characterized by race/ethnicity but rather were good characters that just happened to have that race/heritage. At a point I even forgot Sheen was Hispanic lol
Sheen and Carlos (Magic School Bus) were surprisingly mexican kids who had 0 stereotypes applied to their characters despite being Latin American. Sheen's dad has an accent and they reference he is Mexican but they never made his character defined by it. Its also funny that Sheen was named after Charlie Sheen (Sheen Estavez) too.
One thing I noticed recently when watching the show even when she was annoyed by the trio she also seemed to be more concerned about them in general than Cindy was. Also for example on the Christmas episode she was the one that said they should get back at Jimmy for making Karl cry which means that she doesn't like to See them hurt.
“It’s pretty much confirmed that [Sheen and Libby] are seeing each other…until the reboot; the less said about the reboot, the better” …I feel like you mean Planet Sheen - which is a spin-off, not a reboot - because it’s been quite established that Odenkirk wants to wait till the time is right to reboot Jimmy Neutron
I was really glad Libby had more active role in the show. I remember earlier episodes and wondering why she wasn't interacting as much. Also, dictator Libby still gives me feelings on the inside :)
As a kid I loved them. As an adult, I watch the Valentine's Day Special every year cuz they're so cute in it, I skip all parts that don't have them. It makes so happy to see them getting love in the form of a video and all these comments. Back to being an adult after emersing myself in this nostalgia!
I love this couple, but I’m curious. Did the infatuation start for Sheen because of the love potion? Or did Sheen always liked Libby, but the love potion gave him some confidence? It made me so happy at the end of the love potion episode, when both Libby and Sheen still show affection towards each other :)
Sheen certainly matured in his own way. He came a long way from being the "girls are gross" kind of boy to a full-fledged boyfriend. ^^ I remember in the election episode he got upset at Carl for wearing a "Vote for Libby" button because "1, she's female. 2, she's not a boy! And 3 and most importantly, SHE'S A GIRL!" XD Then overtime he started to care about her more and more. I was so happy when Libby awoke Sheen's inner tiger XD
Definitely a fun character arc. Another mini arc I loved was how Libby gets her new hairstyle. It’s so small but is cool that it carried over to the rest of the show. In fact, a lot of plot points carry over between episodes. I favor Cindy/Jimmy but Sheen/Libby is definitely the stronger arc.
Honestly what I distinctly remember as a kid was when Jimmy accidentally released that love potion and sheen did a bunch of romantic gestures for Libby, I remember in the end, she still kept the action figure he gifted her and then he did a super happy dance in the end and it’s the cutest thing ever 🥺😭
The reason why Sheen and Libby worked better as a couple instead of Jimmy and Cindy is because Libby is a very honest person, which means that she can be more open with her feelings and Sheen is proud of who he is and he doesn’t care what people think of him, which is why he shows Libby his feelings in his own eccentric ways. Jimmy and Cindy just felt forced and mandatory. Besides, why would Jimmy wanna be with a brat who treats him like dirt?
and another point is that libby and sheen genuinely care for each other. cindy on the other hand she barely shows she cares about jimmy and she was more than glad to sell him out to the police for a crime he didn't comitted. jimmy and cindy as a couple sucks, the 95% of the show is just cindy being an annoying brat to him, she doesn't deserve jimmy.
@@openspaces5263 while she did help them convince the town to believe in him, she never admitted it was her fault she almost doomed the planet and the apology from the N-men doesn't matter because an episode later she goes back to bully him and treat him like dirt. overall cindy sucks as a person and as a love interest
Even now that I'm grown, I enjoy the dynamic of Libby and Sheen more but I enjoy the actual relationship of Jimmy and Cindy more Just my own personal preference but another great video Jay keep it up
Yeah the relationships are two sides of a coin. Sheen Libby is the opposite of Jimmy Cindy. We don't see Libby and Sheen argue much but when they do its more impactful. While Jimmy Cindy is more entertaining to watch due to their egos
I remember Libby was the first ever girl character 6yo me liked, not like in a childhood fictional crush kinda way, but like i thought she would be a cool friend to have and be fun to hang out with, i also liked her music taste. It never occurred to me until i grew up that, she and Sheen, a black woman and a hispanic, were the first ever interracial couple i'd ever seen in a cartoon. Also, there's a reboot? I never heard anything about that
If you've never watched "Planet Sheen", congrats friend! You did a good job! Lol. 👏👏👏👍 But, seriously, good for you and keep it that way to avoid seeing how they completely ruined Sheen’s character development and totally forgot about his relationship with Libby in that spin-off.
My husband is a hyperfixating, spastic goof ball. My favourite person in the world. I actually related a lot to Libby growing up, loving music and having no problem not being the smart kid of the class. I guess I see why I liked Sheen x Libby so much and why I still like them now.
Their chemistry seem more natural and not forced from hating each other like Jimmy and Cindy, they do actually care about one another which is super wholesome
The thing about Sheen is that he may be dumb and he may be clueless, but his emotional intelligence is miles beyond his age, he knows that he loves Libby and simply does what he knows she will like, there's no drama and no conflict, Libby is his girl and he wants her to be happy and safe.
This is why I love this show even now. Even all these years later when I revisit I am so pleasantly surprised how well it holds up. The show was such a trailblazer in so many ways it makes me mad that it ended when it did while Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob went on into infinity.
@@alanamcmillian5810 Yeah thats true. FOP in its earlier seasons actually wasn't too bad. But wow did drop off towards the end. I don't what they were thinking adding a baby that just says Poof over and over was a good idea.
@@alanamcmillian5810that’s a shame FOP redeeming qualities was its solid supporting cast. Well it got put out of its misery. Unlike SpongeBob that is still miraculously still going.
Even as a dumb ignorant kid growing up, I noticed and appreciated Sheen and Libby's growing relationship so much. Everytime they both were on screen it felt like a nice checkpoint breather after dealing with Jimmy and Cindy or whoever keeps being a third wheel in their relationship that episode. They comfy couple you know you could safely enjoy watching
For me I would prefer Libby and Sheen over Jimmy and Cindy cause they actually have some subtle romantic moments (wish we had seen them actually kiss or something), and I'm personally not a big fan of the bickering couple routine. Also, I think you could do a video for April and Jimmy. While I think in that Win Lose Kaboom episode Jimmy doesn't really deserve to get the girl, because he was acting out of character and the side romance is mainly there to make Cindy jealous 🤔. He does have a better romance with April than with Cindy.
I loved this show so much growing up! I still compare Libby and Sheen’s relationship with Jimmy and Cindy’s, but really the difference between them is Sheen and Libby are a more caring relationship while Jimmy and Cindy see each other as equals and that bothers them because they both want to be the smartest in class. I feel like both couples should have been shown in an official way, although for a cartoon they did a pretty good job. I really wish they kept the show on longer though. This was good.
Idk I'll never get past one of Sheen's nicknames for Libby being "Gangstress of love." That will sit in my head for all of eternity. He's so lucky she never heard that shit
I feel like Sheen is a early and great example of someone who is neurodivergent. Which make the relationship better because he is just accepted by libby. Its just natural and not a big deal
I dont lnow why alot of people like couples who ONLY argue, or are ONLY lovey dovey. I like a mix! i like the duo because they are 2 people who find charmin their flaws and strengths💕
Interracial couples in cartoon shows was my first introduction . As told by Ginger stands out to me because you don’t see it much from the man being of color in shows so I think it’s nice when the men can be a POC of different culture to as well to the female love interest
Planet sheen should be considered un canon or if they somehow rebooted jimmy neutron, turn out to be just a simulation made as a fail safe knowing sheen would attempt to gain access to his lab. Because if we take into account that show, he forgets about libby for some alien chick
@Alpha Jay Show I like the idea that Planet Sheen is about a sheen clone that breached containment and had to be disposed of. Would explain why he's a lot more one note
@@TheAlphaJayShow it’s in line with jimmy’s character, wouldn’t even be a fail safe really, Jimmy would have made it to test it out, but since the reboot was so bad and if they wrote it smart enough, the test was a failure as well, the reboot starts with jimmy unplugging sheen out of his matrix. Since he’s the weird character no one would believe him about his adventures besides jimmy and carl. I dunno I may be rambling but I just love this show
Its funny how its always the secondary characters that seem to have the better and more natural relationships. Libby and Sheen is kind of the same tier as Gerald and Phoebe (Hey Arnold) for me. Its very chill and based on mutual respect. There is no will-they-wont-they drama with them as there is with the main characters.
One of my favorite interactions between Sheen and Libby was in the second Timmy/Jimmy Power Hour, when Libby insists she doesn’t want to go anywhere unless she knows Cindy is happy, and Sheen is so loyal he doesn’t want to go anywhere until he knows Libby is happy- “or if Ultra Lord is involved in some shape or form.” 😂
I never thought about those two as anything like a shock factor. Ever. In fact, I totally forgot how I felt till now! It was totally a normal relationship to me 🙂 and that’s how it should feel. So happy they added this crush dynamic when I was a kid.
Rigby and Sheen while being more chaotic and immature were more earnest than their "main character" best friend. It makes a lot of sense to me why romantically they're more successful
Libby and Sheen were so good together. I loved how they changed Libby's hair too. I actually noticed how it's important for a black chatacter in that time actually have a hairstyle that was good for her hair type and not constantly straight.
I like how Libby kept her permanent short curly hair look after that Jimmy and the gangs (along with Cindy and Libby) went to Egypt and they discovered that Cleopatra looked like Libby and Libby kept her "Cleopatra" hair until the next episodes.
Much like there IS no Last Airbender movie, there IS no Sheen-based reboot of this franchise. Libby and Sheen marry after college, and have several music-lovin' hyperactive kids.
@@suzygirl1843 They're able to travel to the moon and back within the span of a few hours, breathe in space, and increase/decrease their intelligence with the literal push of a button ... Why are we concerned about what's realistic when it comes to these characters?
I think the side romances are just chill because its not required to be entertaining. Like you can have conflicts and differences for the ship but the stories not obligated to spotlight it as much. Like libby and sheen is cute. I also like how libby a black girl dates sheen a hispanic character. Like its not a huge deal but its pleasant to see in a 2000s cartoon.
Love that you talked about Libby and Sheen, especially since my family and I love quoting them sometimes. The way Sheen says "maybe..." is something we still say since I was a kid, lol. XD We've also never seen the Planet Sheen reboot, and we're not really in a hurry to see it...
Another thing that’s pretty cool is that interracial couples in animation around this time were usually white/POC. Sheen, who’s Mexican and Libby are two POC. It is also realistic that as a kid Sheen, who definitely reads as ADHD, is in his own bubble and doesn’t really know how to engage with someone on their level and with their interests, but shows he cares the only way he knows how. Like in the Valentine episode when he gives Libby his favorite action figure.
I was fine with it but hated that it had to turn into or be because of a cush or something, instead of them just gradually respecting each other as friends. Cindy was generally jealous of Jimmy and it was obvious, and Jimmy never actually liked her that way until the plot just made them ship. Its just like Sam and Freddie, I dont think abusive or characters that seriously dislike each other should just make a relationship solve or explain it. Sheen and Libby were the better dynamic. Even Jimmy's parents are kind of a cute couple.
@@GeteMachine I totally agree! And now that you pointed it out, Jimmy and Cindy did seem a little forced. And I definitely liked the competition between the two.
i'm actually in a pretty healthy relationship now, have been for years, after a string of unhealthy ones, and it actually is pretty close to Sheen and Libby's relationship-- just with one different gender. i feel like i'm weird and high maintenance, and sometimes i go a bit overboard, and my partner shows reasonable concern when it's warranted, but ultimately loves what's weird about me just because it involves ME. in turn, i don't understand every single one of his interests, but i put my best foot forward and try anyway, sometimes trying a little too hard. the show was absolutely ahead of its time, because sure. Sheen and Libby are two eleven-year-old kids. but they GOT, right away, that in a relationship both parties are equals, and that if you put in the work together, you can help better each other and yourselves.
I love how you took the time to do this . I always felt the education system would benefit from allowing individuals to do their personal interest! 😊 I’ll continue to tap in to your channel.
This is the thing I wanna call is the lava blob effort . two characters started off negatively but later on get to know each other better. For example rick & Daryl from TWD they were complete strangers they didn't know & despised each other at first but later on they gotten better friendship. Libby & sheen started off as supporting characters but started shipping for each other
Also, in the first Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, when Decimator-Goddard spots the two (plus Carl) and threatens to "decimate" the three of them, Sheen puts his arm out and stands in front of Libby to protect her.
That’s why I liked representation in entertainment in the early 2000s instead of the 2020s, it wasn’t in your face and presented the characters as actual people with motivations anyone can relate to and not boring stereotypical cut outs. They were also original characters too and not race swapped variations. I don’t know why it’s so hard to go back to that
Man, the detail put in these Jimmy Neutron videos honestly makes me want the show to come back even more (though I am aware having the romance as the main reason for it could be "fanservice."). About Sheen and Libby, I also find them together more bearable to watch than Jimmy and Cindy due to the two not bickering so much because of their differences unlike the former two, even if Stranded revealed that to be an act. I also saw Crouching Jimmy, Hidden Sheen and really liked what it revealed-Sheen and Libby care more about each other than their own interests (Sheen cares more about Libby than about Ultra Lord and Libby cares more about Sheen than music), which is truly interesting. Now thinking about this and what the fourth season of the show had planned, Sheen and Libby's dynamic may have been a foreshadowing to what Jimmy and Cindy's relationship would finally be like at one point. Nonetheless, both relationships are cleverly written in their own ways, but Sheen and Libby's was just more bearable.
This video honestly explained why I tend to like sideline romances more in a lot of media. They are more natural and less troupe intense lol Troupes aren't even a bad thing but main romance couples tend to be very heavy handed with them, especially in cartoons. I think couples work best in media when said media is not trying to convince you "they love each other, see?!" but instead use nuance and let the viewer see it happen. I think SheenxLibby works way better than JimmyxCindy because not once did I feel like Jimmy and Cindy even liked each other unless the show wanted to show them acting "googly eyed" which is a bad sign lol They are literally that love/hate troupe. I think many aspects of Libby and Sheen's relationship was fresh and healthy so it's a nicer experience to see happen too. Accepting, loving and honestly seeing a casual biracial couple was rare. Only saw it happen in Hey Arnold with Gerald and Phoebe and that was extremely side-lined. I read comments seeing that Planet Sheen retconned their romance which makes me glad I never cared to watch it. Best aspect of Sheen was his love for Libby since she balanced his hyper behavior and they compliment each other. Sheen's personality is intense so he definitely works better with other characters than alone.
This is true, as someone who obsessed with certain RPGs and fighting games, it takes someone truly special to be place above such an unhealthy obsession. This relationship was the one of the first things I can truly remember to make me realize their are people in this world who isn't family or friends that can inspire that amount of love within you.
Yeah, kid me dback then - did NOT know tropes, and did NOT know that the arguing about Jimmy and Cindy was supossed to be a developing relationship. So I did get really surprised by future developments.
I just realized that jimmy neutron was the only kids show that had continuity that everything that happened in earlier episodes would later be referenced.

That girl single handily managed to turn the ADHD little weirdo into her own personal mannequin, and he loves every second of it.
literally sounds like me and my boyfriend lmao
That's so freaking cute
Honestly growing up I always loved these two.
There was zero doubt Sheen loved Libby, and would do anything she asked. It was honestly charming how he would do this for her.
I also liked how Libby despite thinking Sheen can be weird at times does indeed care about him. She also never attempts to change him. Sure she tries to make sure he isnt 100%(making sure he takes his medicine is a good thing) crazy but she never tries to make him into something she isnt. She accepts and likes he is weird.
To me it was one of the best portrayals of a healthy relationship
Jimmy and Cindy was honestly toxic, even after they admitted they like one another.
Loved reading that. I know it’s in the context of Jay’s vid and the show, but your comment was especially encouraging to me lol
@@MinorKey135honestly same
Its really funny how true that is
Rigby & Eileen from regular show is another great example of this
Seriously I love this in a person
Libby was black excellence before it was even a thing. I remember her wearing braids proudly made me want to wear braids. Edit: I was today years old to find out Sheen was Latino. Had no idea he was Sheen Estevez.
Aww
Yeah I only remember ever seeing his dad once, like, ever.
"Ultra-dad!"
"Ultra-son!"
Early 2000s was so much better than nowadays,
Original black characters with a actual personality… I miss it 😢
As a black person, the only western black character I relate to nowadays is probably miles morales… and that’s probably it, we either get race changes or a overly political black character that’s probably heavily stereotypical.
Yeah I knew his last name was estevez but I didn’t know he was Latino
@@LoopyDreamz775Miles Morales….. as an Afro Latino….. I can’t relate. It doesn’t help that I found the whole movie pretty blegh

Libby: Sheen, did you take your medicine this morning?
Sheen: (as apprehensively humanly as possible) Maybe…
Honestly I find this exact moment to be cute, hilarious and unfortunately relatable 😂😂 The amount of times I'll be talking my head off only for my boyfriend to ask if I took my medicine today😅
more examples of Sheen and Libby's relationship (including her reciprocating, and her meaning more to him than Ultra Lord) is in the love pheramone episode
yes, a big part of the episode is him falling in love with her due to the love pheramone...he even gives her his most prized ultra lord, with the Melty Face that means a lot to him. he explains why it means so much and she thinks it's super sweet
then near the end of the episode, when all the stuff has worn off, she still goes out of her way to sneakily show him that she kept it, and smiles, implying it really meant a lot to her and she wanted him to know it.

It's a severely under-rated pair of scenes!
I was actualy surprised that they kept that despite the episode. Like in continuity he actually was attracted to Libby.
Shoutout to the homie Sheen, made Jimmy Neutron more memorable
I know right
Carl and Jimmy's Dad who made it into NASB too. Let's not involve the spinoff, though.
Absolutely
And we ignore the spin-of
My favorite Sheen moment is when he is distracting a guard with Ballon animals
The guard finds out and Sheen throws the ballon animals at the guard saying
"Attack my Children!" Legit the funniest moment in the shwo
I remember being very endeared by them as a kid, mainly cause I liked Libby getting ANY story.
Now that you've pointed out all of this, yeah, Sheen & Libby's relationship was ahead of it's time and went underappreciated. It was wasn't toxic nor one-sided like most ships in back then and kinda like now. Well researched Jay.
Like Boy Meets World's Shawn and Angela
Heh ye
I literally just saw a meme about how Sheen is a great ADHD character, Jimmy Neutron must be having a resurgence or something.
I've spoken about it before! I come back around to it here and there
Jimmy Neutron did better representation than most shows today tbh
They actually made their characters characters instead of brownie points dispensers
@ReleaseTheBatz he definitely isn't bi polar as we never see him switch from maniac to depressed state of mind
As a Hispanic man with ADHD who found a black woman who not only puts up with my spaziness, but appreciates me for it, Libbey x Sheen is like watching us when we were younger 😊

The fact that all Sheen needed to gain confidence and win the kung fu battle was to hear Libby call herself his girlfriend has always stuck with me. 💖💖 That scene absolutely blew my mind as a kid.
My favorite episode
Yo that’s dope 😊! What blew your mind about it?
@@MinorKey135 Probably just how romantic it is. I've never really thought about why it blew my mind.
Evil Libby lookin kinda bad though. Maybe that nightmarish future wasn't all that bad?
Sheen and Libby seem like such a genuine couple too. Sheen’s weird, she knows that, and she embraces it.
Also the tiger in Sheen’s eye when she calls herself his girlfriend his legitimately both hilarious and adorable.
I was thinking the same with Rigby and Eileen's relationship. It's a nice contrast to a less over the top and healthier, natural relationship.
5:40 I like the fact that on one hand Libby has royalty in her lineage and can use her authority for good, while on the other hand she can easily become a dictator in the future. I kinda wish they dived more into this story-wise.... and yes I am saying that simply to see more of dictator Libby.
I mean, I see why Sheen had a thing for dictator Libby. She was a baddie
DID YOU SEE THAT DESIGN, LIKE OMG-
Ooh maybe have her be a villain in a future story. Like she survived the timeline change.
and when Sheen became a mega genius with psychic powers, he instantly made her his queen
I remember shipping them all the time when I was a kid, they gave off a “we’re opposites and we like it” couple vibe when I was little. I loved that kind and wished they had more episodes focused on those two
I just love that we were able to have a POC couple early on who didn't really fit into typical stereotypes
While you can argue that Sheen does fit, I disagree I didn't really see a lot of Hispanic kids that weren't always spouting Spanish every 3 seconds to remind you that they're Hispanic
And the fact that Libby was the straight man and wasn't the sassy angry black girl? Perfect
What I loved more was how they accepted each other and how just overall in love they were it was just so cute they were my otp
Yessss, I think it's more that the characters written weren't characterized by race/ethnicity but rather were good characters that just happened to have that race/heritage. At a point I even forgot Sheen was Hispanic lol

I love this couple, but I’m curious. Did the infatuation start for Sheen because of the love potion? Or did Sheen always liked Libby, but the love potion gave him some confidence? It made me so happy at the end of the love potion episode, when both Libby and Sheen still show affection towards each other :)
I always thought it amplified any emotions that were already there
Well that house party episode when Sheen wanted to play spin the bottle with Libby was as early as season 1 so the love potion might've amplified it.

Sheen certainly matured in his own way. He came a long way from being the "girls are gross" kind of boy to a full-fledged boyfriend. ^^
I remember in the election episode he got upset at Carl for wearing a "Vote for Libby" button because "1, she's female. 2, she's not a boy! And 3 and most importantly, SHE'S A GIRL!" XD Then overtime he started to care about her more and more. I was so happy when Libby awoke Sheen's inner tiger XD

@@gemstoneprincess2890 how?
Definitely a fun character arc. Another mini arc I loved was how Libby gets her new hairstyle. It’s so small but is cool that it carried over to the rest of the show. In fact, a lot of plot points carry over between episodes. I favor Cindy/Jimmy but Sheen/Libby is definitely the stronger arc.
Best couple of the show hands down.
For sure

Tbh I’ve always leaned toward Sheen and Libby. They were always so cute

The eye of the tiger still pits me in stitches 😂
I loved this show so much growing up! I still compare Libby and Sheen’s relationship with Jimmy and Cindy’s, but really the difference between them is Sheen and Libby are a more caring relationship while Jimmy and Cindy see each other as equals and that bothers them because they both want to be the smartest in class. I feel like both couples should have been shown in an official way, although for a cartoon they did a pretty good job. I really wish they kept the show on longer though. This was good.

Planet sheen should be considered un canon or if they somehow rebooted jimmy neutron, turn out to be just a simulation made as a fail safe knowing sheen would attempt to gain access to his lab. Because if we take into account that show, he forgets about libby for some alien chick
That simulation idea is amazing
I dunno I may be rambling but I just love this show
Works for me!
Would be great if Sheen brought up the alien like "Who was that and wheres Libby?!"
I always liked the secondary characters alot more.
Big City Greens portrayed child romance most accurately. Cricket and Gabrialla like to hang out and don't want to do mushy stuff yet.
This is my Jimmy Neutron OTP. Don’t get me wrong I like Jimmy and Cindy pretty well but Sheen/Libby had such a sweet relationship. Super chill.
For how insane Sheen could act sometimes, I love seeing how wholesome and healthy their dynamic was.
Much like there IS no Last Airbender movie, there IS no Sheen-based reboot of this franchise. Libby and Sheen marry after college, and have several music-lovin' hyperactive kids.

I think the side romances are just chill because its not required to be entertaining. Like you can have conflicts and differences for the ship but the stories not obligated to spotlight it as much. We've also never seen the Planet Sheen reboot, and we're not really in a hurry to see it...
Plus: interracial relationship, which still doesn't happen enough in media these days.
The fact that sheen gave libby his meltyface ultralord? As an autistic kid with many hyperfixations around toys and TV shows I'll never forget that.

Wait…what reboot? 😢
Planet Sheen, and it's not a reboot, it's a spin off.
Even Jimmy's parents are kind of a cute couple.

i'm actually in a pretty healthy relationship now, have been for years, after a string of unhealthy ones, and it actually is pretty close to Sheen and Libby's relationship-- just with one different gender. i feel like i'm weird and high maintenance, and sometimes i go a bit overboard, and my partner shows reasonable concern when it's warranted, but ultimately loves what's weird about me just because it involves ME. in turn, i don't understand every single one of his interests, but i put my best foot forward and try anyway, sometimes trying a little too hard. the show was absolutely ahead of its time, because sure.
And then there is Carl with his crush which you should definatly do a video on.
@marquissmason2108 has got it going on
This is the thing I wanna call is the lava blob effort . two characters started off negatively but later on get to know each other better. For example rick & Daryl from TWD they were complete strangers they didn't know & despised each other at first but later on they gotten better friendship. Libby & sheen started off as supporting characters but started shipping for each other
dude when i saw the reboot, i was like: WHO THE FUCK IS THIS SIDEBITCH!?!?!? and from then on i stopped considering that show canon
