I started playing in the 70s with my Grandpa. I would stay the Summer with he and Grandma. They would drop me off at 730, go to work and then pick me up at 530 everyday for about 2 months. I did get to a +1 handicap and had dreams of getting on the tour. Then I had an accident where I cracked my back. Im fine but lost my game. I am about a 6 today ay age 65. Still have some moments of the old days but the back and now knees get tired 😂
I’m 68 and began playing when I was 52. Ended 10 years ago when I got colon cancer. Started playing three year’s ago averaging 120. Now I average 92. I learned a lot from friends and a lot from Alex and others on line. I still try tweaking with not much luck but I’m having a blast. Thanks Alex.
Thanks for the inspiration. I'm 60. I just started golfing last year. My best on 18 holes a few days ago was 104. Having fun. Wish I woulda started when I was young.
Started playing in 2014 and use a Cobra Hybrid the same you are coaching with. Hope your swing tips will improve my scores which are best described by the movie title "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".
1979. I was about 14 years old. Stopped playing when I went in the military and picked it up again about 11 years ago at 48. I shoot in the high 80's and would LOVE to break 80 for sure.
Started playing in 2018 at 69 years of age and have enjoyed the game ever since . Your videos are in my library for constant referral , thanks for all your most helpful guidance during my learning curve . Keep them coming , thanks John Moir
I started playing golf with some sports shop co workers while we were in college back in 2011. Restarted after about a 11 year hiatus and found the channel to get more serious with my game and stick with it to teach my kid 😎. I’m planning to try my hybrid off the tee this weekend since I still need to work on my driver swing lol so this tip and the one for fairway and rough are great!
Started playing golf during Covid and have been hooked ever since. I really can't thank you enough for all your great tips and tricks that have helped me greatly Alex!!
I started playing at about 12 years of age , not sure I’m playing any better now (63) . Your UA-cam videos have definitely helped me on the driving range, can’t wait to get out when the course opens! That driver would be great alongside my new cobra irons😍!
I am 63 years and started playing against this past year 2 times per week. I actually bought a set of hybrids due to your videos. I was really struggling with my regular irons. I really needed this video today. I have been topping my hybrids big time recently. I play with my brother and he is always telling me that I am too high on the ball and actually falling back a little on my follow through. I expect that using this technique stay lower and behind the ball longer will help my striking sweet spot. I am playing today at 11:30 and will be using this tee technique all day. I will let you know how it work for me...The techniques you off with the use of hybrids have really helped my overall game. I love playing golf and now can consistently score around 90...sometimes even a mid 80...Many thanks for all your help!
Started playing early 20s at par 3 courses in about 2007/2008, still a high handicap, but gotten more into it 2019 and always looking to improve. You’re videos are great, and helping with some bad habits 😁
Started age 10 and played through 20s but then life and family became number1. Started again in 40s and just joined my first club and loving it. Finding clubs and advice from you Alex has helped me especially the longer shots. Thanks.
Hi Alex. Great tip. L know this works. Started golf in 1972. But then got into soccer and stopped playing then when l was 48 and quote a bit handicapped with arthritis in both ankles. So what could l do to help keep fit. I know. I brushed off my old golf clubs which were all sorts and started playing again. Then in 2014 l brought my first ever set of clubs and they are Cobra❤ graphite with 3, 4, n 5 hybrids. Still using them . Loving my golf. Cheers from GlenorchyTasmania Joseph
I started playing in 2004 with my grandfather. He taught me the basics and loved spending time with him in the course. I took a long hiatus for other sports, college, etc. I just picked the game back up again in 2022 and have fallen in love with it again. Always looking to make my grandfather proud. Keep up the great content!
I started playing just after I watched Tiger Woods play his first tournament in 1992. He was such an inspiration for me to get in the game. I had played a few times prior, using my grandfathers clubs. But, once I watched Tiger play, I was hooked. And, I’ve loved the game ever since!
I’ve played golf here and there through the past. My softball career ended about 2 years ago and searched for a hobby outside of that. 1 year ago I decided to play golf and make a conscience effort to play at least once a week and challenge myself to work and get better at golf. If there’s a part of my game I’m struggling with, I came to UA-cam and find one of Alex’s videos that are tailored to what I’m looking to work on! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for hosting this contest. Starting playing at around 9. No one in my family played but got hooked watching Johnny Miller and Jack Nicklaus on the TV.
I stared golf about 20 yrs ago and immediately fell in love with this remarkable game. I have shot in the mid 80's but with your extensive lessons here, I hope to break 80 this summer.I play at a delightful family-owned 18 hole course in the warm springs valley of Virginia. My clubs are aging as I am. A new driver would be super. I have used Cobra drivers for years and a brand spanking new Aerojet would be a real treat and greatly appreciated on my limited golf budget.
Started playing in 2019. It was the only thing you could do during that time. Everything else was closed..... fell in love with the game and haven't stopped. Out every chance I get.
Unlike most of those who have commented below I started playing just over a year ago when i finally had the time post retirement. I have to say that as an absolute beginner I have found your's (and some others) videos an invaluable way to adjust various things about my game. Every time I play I seem to be adjusting something somewhere and, although nowhere near where I'd like to be, I'm definitely getting there. Great game, I just wish I'd had the time to get started earlier
Played golf before moving countries to NZ - started playing again just before COVID again after 15 years. Started watching your channel about 2 months ago and my handicap has dropped 6 shots in that time. Best advice I have come across
I started playing golf when I was about 9 years old (2000) at a local club. My brother had some lessons that he wasn't going to use so I took advantage. Fell in love with it ever since!
I started playing 2 years ago and watch you videos for my improvement. your videos really help and the best to understand and relate to. Love Cobra clubs! I actually got a hole in one last year and it was partly from your videos of how to hit irons. My handicap is coming down regularly. I play golf very often now, 53 times last year. Always return to your channel for advice. Thank you.
My Dad was a head greenkeeper of a golf course, and played off of 3. He taught me how to play at the early age of around 4 years old. I am still playing and enjoying golf at 77. Plus I still pick up tips from good professionals like yourself. Never too old to learn.
I started playing at the end of summer last year. I joined a new job and now go golfijg with my team every friday morning. Watching all these videos habe definitely helped immensely. Made my first Par yesterday!
I started playing seriously, 5 years ago. went on a golf trip with my brothers, a couple cousins, and uncles. played the best game of my life and have been chasing the dragon ever since. first game of league play today. don’t know how much work i’m gonna get done. probably going to binge your vids for more tips. can’t wait to try this method out.
Started playing golf 10 months ago after playing at Watford Topgolf with my work conference. A few weeks later I did my first ever 18 holes was in Disney Florida on holiday. Since then I’ve been hitting the driving range or playing a round of golf on my own. I love the game but it a hard and challenging game to play. Thanks to UA-cam videos I’ve picked up a lot of tips to help me hit my clubs better. Still a 30+ handicap but I’m slowly getting better at the game.
I started playing golf around 2006. At a young age I was fortunate to lived within walking distance of a local 9 hole public course. Its been 10+ years since I have played that course but i still remember it like the back of my hand! Thanks for all the great content on this channel!
I started playing after college and only recently have I started to greatly improve my game. Your channel and others are great in supporting my game's improvement. Thanks.
Started playing about 1.5 months ago on vacation to florida, watched many many videos and golfed quite a few games so far. Your tip videos are one of my best resources!
I originally got a full set on my bday from my grandmother when I was 10 in 2007. Took some lessons and played a few with her until she passed away a couple years after. Fell out of playing due to sadness and growing out of clubs. Fortunately found a nice set of irons on FB and got some spare clubs from family and coworkers and have been playing a fair bit over the past year and a half. Started at +25 but bringing it down to average +15 thanks to your videos. Keep up the great content, fantastic work!
started playing golf 25 years ago and still struggle with my fairway woods...I don't like taking lessons as most coaches want to change your whole game and I just want to be tweaked that's why I enjoy these short lessons/tips on your youtube video's thank you they have helped a lot!
Started 1974,how things have changed, missed 10 years now playing regularly between 10 and 13 handicap. Really enjoy the content keep the videos going 👍
Hello Alex! I started playing golf consistently rather late in life. I played some rounds with my Dad when I was a kid but I reconnected and fell in love with it when I was 29...I'm 54 now. Love your videos and I have applied many tips from you...they've all worked so far! Love your channel. Keep it up Sir!!!
Started playing around 30 years ago because that's just what you do when you work for finance corp. I've taken lessons over the years, but always stopped when the "new swing" caused more back pain. After years of starting and stopping lessons, you're actually giving me some tips that work and don't hurt my body! Thank You!
I started playing in 2013 fell in love with the game. Had a few hardships over the years and took time off. I recently started playing again about 6 months ago and you videos are taking my game to the next level slowly but surely. That driver is sweet, good luck to the winner
Started playing golf as a junior in high school, at 17 years old, and have been playing on and off ever since as life allows. I'm near 60 years old now, and still trying to improve my game, so thanks for all the videos. These are some of the best instructional videos I've seen.
Hi Alex, I started playing golf in 1983. I am a big fan of Don Trahan's Peak Performance Golf Swing, I have a bad back and his videos saved me from retiring my clubs about 10 years ago. I saw your video on Jon Rahm's driver setup where he lines his club up 8-10 inches behind the ball and it was amazingly effective at straightening out and lengthening my drives last weekend. Looking forward to trying this tip out as well, seems like the mechanics are similar.
Great vid! I started playing golf at the age of 15. Hybrid clubs were not around then. My dad kinda forced me into it and when you’re at that age you do not have the patience for golf and the early morning starts getting to that first tee. I had a coach and was playing 2-4 times a week. My tee offs with the driver was really my strength and I was able to hit it really really long (280 to 320 yards) especially when I turned 17 or 18 but sucked at the short game (60 yards to the pin and putting) which frustrated me a lot. Stopped playing golf all together at 19. Now at 33, I’ve just rediscovered golf and am absolutely loving it! Although a lot less skilled than I was when I was younger, I finally have the patience required on the course and am enjoying it a lot more for sure. Now I’m working on mastering my short game to further enhance the enjoyment of this beautiful game!
Started playing when I was 17 till about 19, then had an 11 year hiatus and just been getting back into it the last 3 months. Thanks for all the excellent content!
I started playing golf in 2015 when I retired. This year I got a membership! I plan on playing alot this summer. Yout video's sure do help. Thanks Alex!
Hey Alex, I subscribed a couple of videos ago. I started playing golf after leaving the military in 2003 at the age of 35. I found Golf is a lot like marriage. It can be very frustrating and at the same time the love of your life… I shoot in the mid to low 80s and play once or twice a week on average. Last week I shot a 79. I was over the moon. On the 16th hole, I was 2 Over Par when a thunderstorm rolled through and halted the round for 45 minutes. Without going into details, I completely fell apart, resulting in a 79.. I love this game and wish I would’ve picked it up when I was younger. Thanks for the great instructional videos. I especially enjoyed the “Jon Rohm” driver setup tip.
I started playing golf 4 years ago when I was 48. BTW you have become my favorite teacher as your simple tricks help! Especially the Tee punched in the left thumb... I gained 20 yards on every club
I started playing golf about 12 years ago....but only more seriously about a year ago. Your videos are always a big help and are helping me on the road to being a decent golfer eventually!
Hello Alex, I started playing golf when I was about 15 years old and am currently 55. I have to say I am probably playing the best golf of my life now, thanks to the help of UA-cam golfers such as yourself.
I started golfing back in 2008 with my dad. We went to sports authority and bought a set of Ram clubs. I used those same clubs up until last year where I started piecing together a new set. Bought Mizuno 923 Hot Metals and I absolutely love them. Woods, putter, and driver replacements coming up!
Started playing golf 2015 and worked my way down to a 16 handicap in a years time! Had a break, and now im back. Your videos give me some more consistency in my swing, and i notice massive changes.
Hi Alex. I started when I was 19 when I started working at the golf club. I gave up about 11 years ago but started playing again at the start of April. Finding bargain clubs is tough. I'm more hooked on golf in the last month or so than I ever was years ago. Thanks for the videos. I so.etimes watch them between shots to jog my memory haha
Great advice! I, like many others, have topped the ball with my fairway woods for years. At age 63, this will help shave some strokes off of my score! I started playing avidly at age 30 in 1990. Still swinging my first nice 10 degree driver purchased in 2005 lol. Thanks for the wonderful advice! Best regards,
I started playing golf 12 months ago for some fun with mates. I have always found it hard to get my ball into flight. But thanks to you and a couple of others help it is starting to happen more often.
I first played when I was about 15, but I didn’t stick with it, since I’m a lefty and only had right-handed clubs at the time. Taking it up again in my 50’s, and I’m learning so much from your channel. Thanks!!
I started playing golf in my early 30's !!!! Alex I would really love that gorgeous driver !!! Seriously your videos are great & you make them really easy to understand & they work just as easily !!! Thanks so much !!! My best to you !!!
I just started playing earlier this year as I am cutting back on work and heading into retirement. I like to use a hybrid so this video has been really helpful. Thanks.
I've only been playing golf for a few months now but Alex has helped improve my game massively! That cobra driver would look amazing in my bag. Good luck all!
Started playing in the 1980’s while in college. I’m still not any good but your tips are helping me understand how to fix some of my issues. Just bought my first ever new set of irons (have always bought used in the past), so I’m finally getting a little more serious about improving. 5:30
I started in the 90s. Still play the same. I actually Love this game. So far I’m getting a little better each day. Thank you for this Hybrid Club video. Very nervous taking out my bag. Also topping it.
Already subbed and I started playing in April of 2022. I still haven't broken 100 on a full course but I am at bogey golf on 9 hole courses locally. I shared on my Facebook page. You lessons have already improved my game immensely in just 2 weeks of watching. I hit my best driver shot to date today after watching your driver techniques yesterday. Thank you.
another cracking video, i now look ahead of the ball for my irons and it has stopped me topping the shot.. I started playing golf 30 years ago but gave it up as i was not very good and I thought i had to hit the ball like the pro's. i decided to return last year too get me out more and with the invention of you tube i have picked up many tips to help me play better but also that i am not such a bad player. i am now hooked and spend all my time playing as much as I can
I started playing golf with a very basic half set of golf clubs 10 years ago. I have since fallen in love with the game and I am gradually adding to my golf set.
I started playing when I was 17 about 22 years ago, but probably had a span of 10-15 years I didn’t play but maybe 5 times. Trying recently to reignite my game. That driver sure would look nice in my bag. Love the informative video! Thanks.
Started in lockdown ( the first one) and your videos have helped me massively!!!! Started with my dads old clubs- I’m 5 inches taller than him so not the best - but just got myself my own irons- no big stick yet so I’ve got my fingers crossed on this one! Keep up with the great content !
I started +- 1 year ago, my 9 year old son is now on the course with me. He is the natural, I still have so much to learn. Thank you for you tips and techniques.
Started in 2000, but had long phases of not playing as I wasn‘t really seeing much progress. 4 years ago I restarted and didn‘t regret any moment. Just enjoying the game and trying to put into practice some of the gems you share. Thank‘s for that!
I started playing in high school with my grandpa, didn't play for a long time and then recently picked it back up over the last couple years. Such a great sport to get outside and focus on both the mental and physical aspects.
Hey Alex. I started playing with my Dad when I was about 8 years old. Our (or my) time was half playing and half looking for balls in the wood. Great fun and life long memories. Thanks for your videos. ❤
Started around 13 playing golf. Started to take serious later in life and have become pretty good. My handicap is 3 right now. Don’t get to play like I want but try to practice daily. Love the driver!!!
I started playing in my mid twenties. I'm almost fifty now and playing the best golf that I ever have. And I have to say a lot of that is because of you and your videos. You are a great coach. Thank you for what you do. I truly mean it. CHEERS
*Good luck!! How cool is this 50 year anniversary driver 👀❤️*
started playing after I retired about 10 years ago.
Started 17 years ago.
Started when I was 16, still get the mick taken as had no golf shoes and would not go into the rough cause it killed my brown suede brogues.
It is very cool
I started playing in the 70s with my Grandpa. I would stay the Summer with he and Grandma. They would drop me off at 730, go to work and then pick me up at 530 everyday for about 2 months. you are coaching with. Hope your swing tips will improve my scores which are best described by the movie title "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".
Awesome! Enjoy the game and camaraderie and don’t worry too much about the score.
I started playing on and off in 1995, but didn’t join a club until 2007. These tips are helping my game massively. Keep up the great work.

I can agree with that!!
I started playing golf about 55 years ago. My wife talked my brother into asking me to take golf lessons with him. Your ideas help a lot. Thanks
I'm 57 and started playing golf this spring. I look forward to learning more, I enjoy such a challenging game. I'm hooked now.
Started in 1993 by working at a local country club. Thanks for the great videos. Going to try this position with my hybrid today.
It can be very frustrating and at the same time the love of your life…
I shoot in the mid to low 80s and play once or twice a week on average.
Started playing and working at a golf course when I was 10 years old. I am now 71 years old and I still love playing, enjoy your tips keep it up.
