Volvo states in their service manual for this job that you always must change the bolts due to the reason they are stretch bolts

I did not realize the bolts are designed to stretch when torqued properly in place. I’m having these insert install tomorrow along with several other maintenance tasks done. I’m will order the bolts soon and replace them shortly thereafter.

Did you feel any difference in the handling of the car after installing these :)

Well I installed these along with new sub-frame bushings so I can't speak to just the inserts. I did both b/c I was rebuilding the entire front end. It was a while I'm here thing. The car had 125k on it at the time so technically I could have rolled with it but why do the work twice? Post install the cars handling was firmer both in handling and over bumps. It wasn't knock your teeth out. The difference would be similar to the change you would feel going up a wheel size but only on the big bumps. Not all the time.

Those ipd inserts are nvh city. Best to just replace the bushings. I have a vid on the tool.

I would only install the inserts after replacing the bushings. Installing these into old bushings will accelerate their failure.

@@jerick1976 given the inherent imbalance of an inline 5cyl, I am increasingly a proponent of pure oem rubber for the front subframe bushings (4) and engine mounts (5) on P2 Volvos. I maintain two active V70s, have done it all, and don't think polyurethane is worth the nvh in these locations for a typical street car. IPD markets the frame inserts as a way to avoid replacing the bushings... in fact it's the worst of both worlds. Track builders should with pure PU bushings and accept the nvh, daily drivers should stick with rubber. Thus spake this owner.

@@reallyhappenings5597 This was an experiment on my part. Normally I don't use poly unless I'm working on an autocross or track car. It is not worth the fatigue the durable parts and your spine will take on a road car. This was an easy in easy out experiment. If I hated it I would be out another set of bolts and the cost of the inserts. In this rare case I was actually happy with the results.
