- Hi friends! I am going back to school for AI and Machine Learning. I have been self-teaching myself on these subjects and felt that it was time to enroll in a postgraduate program. I am still working full-time on top of studying, and I wanted to share with you how I will be managing my time. I hope this will help anyone who is interested in finding balance (okay, maybe that doesn't fully exist), but at least getting closer to it when wanting to upskill while also working full-time.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you so much for your insights. I am 52 and just finishing up my CS degree in a few months. I am always looking for strategies to improve my study habits for in or out of school. Learning is lifelong. The difference between you going back to school and not is that one year from now, you will have something you wouldn't have otherwise. I love your work!
I love your story , so inspirational
You go rock it 💪
Wow. Thank you all for sharing, I am 47 and constantly self studying. What you said is so so true and inspirational.
Are you concerned about ageism?
And congrats!
Exciting move Tiff -learning is a continuous mechanism - it always has been so you share your study journey as I will be thrilled to know of your gains in the program. Artificial Intelligence is such profound tool that is becoming more integrated in applications.
So awesome! Tiff I work at GBC, and I been learning to code for the past year while managing a full-time job and life. Agree with you time management is key to be successful.
Thanks for sharing Tiff i'm really interested on following along and learning more about AI and Machine learning, i'm on my own journey taking the free Harvard CX50 course and also starting from the basics so i guess i can say it's never too late to learn. You are very inspiring...
Such an inspiration Tiff, have a fab weekend
keep up the good work i,m learning a lot from you and your teaching so thank you.
I really like the title of your video, it really did attract me, and gave me a confidence boost
I'm actually getting ready to jump into Generative AI and ML taking a couple UDEMY courses, so I would definitely be interested in hearing about your course, and what's on tap. I really like your channel and your presentation style. so refreshing ... keep it up!!
Me too lol, which ones are you taking?
I would appreciate weekly updates so we can learn together
Thanks for the George Brown course tip🙏

I have been in the AI space for about 2 years now and it is awesome! The biggest thing i notice with people trying to switch from data science to AI/ML is the need to learn more data engineering.
Hello Tiff I am doing the same. I found ai/ ml so exciting that I got through the coursera online course from Stanford by Andrew Ng. It has been quite challenging but great for learning. I continue going for the full specialization in deep learning. Let’s see how it goes. Best of luck!
Awesome plan!
I am doing a masters degree in AI and I can say that it is very interesting. I started last October with pretty much no knowledge about machine learning and python. I feel like I came a long way already. I would certainly be looking forward to having more videos related to AI and machine learning from you. You have a certain style of your own in teaching concepts online. I would surely be following 🙂
that’s so inspiring! did you feel like the they teach for a beginners mind or like you had a lot to catch up on? 💕
@@sashasharkh I come from a technical background since I work as a software developer. Having said that, I still had a lot to catch up on. Certainly, my technical background did help at some point. Lectures do introduce you to new concepts but it's just a theory, what really made the difference is the hands-on practice and research on my own when working on the assignments.
Where did you enroll for masters degree in AI ?
@@mayureshs80 at the University of Malta
Also super interested in seeing more videos related to AI and ML! I started school for computer science last semester (I’m 29) so I’m just learning the basics, but I think I’d probably like to do a masters later on in AI.
Cool. I’m also a developer here. I love foundational programming. Quick 10-15 minute learning bits here throughout the day. Walks outside, coffee. Etc.
Great video. I’m also preparing for a masters in DS in the fall while taking a financial modeling course and running a business. I’m always looking for ways to conciliate all that with family and my daily workout routine.
Thank you for sharing your new adventure! I'm excited to watch your progress and achievements along the way. Whenever possible, could you share the major insights or lessons you're picking up weekly? I'm on a similar path, diving into AI and ML through a 5-year university program, and I'm now in my third year.
Wishing you all the best! 😊
Great video 🔥
Congrats on going back to school
Thank you for another great video! Yes, weekly updates on your learning journey sound amazing! Please share everything you can ☺
Thank you for sharing :)
Keep it fun. We love to learn new things .
Best wishes to all of you doing this. Lifelong learner here. Conventional school till I got my first masters in mechanical engineering. Life got me into data science. However, about 38 years old (after working for about 14 years) went back to school part time to get a masters in data science AND that got me so motivated, I went on to get a PhD. So to all doing this, best wishes. This is hard, but this will make it worth while.
hey Rajiv how about doing Data Analytics at the age of 49 from a non IT background?
@@ebbydavid9536 Not sure if you are asking if you can do it or asking me my reaction to you doing it at 49. If it is the later, kudos to you, best wishes. If you are considering doing it, kudos to you then too. My suggestion is to be kind on your self as you learn the basics and take time to get the intuition firing on the basics without reading too much into what the grades and how your peers are doing. You have a different begining, but today, with consistent committed effort, and, good mental and physical health, it is possible to wrap your head around the skills - what with all the you tube videos available and the quality of tools you have today. Go well.
@@ebbydavid9536 you can. Today this is possible. Maybe a good idea to approach this in two phases. Phase one: Introductory courses to get you ready to learn the tools and then Phase 2: Learning the tools. Learning them together would not be an approach I would recomend. Good luck.
Interesting content , keep it up

Good morning. Thanks for sharing your views. I am going to learn new skill after completing this video.
Thanks for this video, I believe you're a very based motivator.
Glad finally someone, like me, pointed out that they use school as an obligataion to keep learning.
I've just applied for my MSc AI and also full time work ans sole father full time of 2. So playing around with different strategies to keep on top of the schedule is good. Would be awesome to see some live study blocks as that mirror time when someone is doing what yourself is doing might be beneficial.
Haha thats funny that you posted this video, started a AI/ML program last week :) And like you i am working full time...
Definitely want to go back to school for data and so as well! But i just finished one degree

Hi Tiff, I am in training for the next 6 weeks on Generative AI at Google Startup School and its been challenging because I am new to AI and ML so I needed to see how to get help..thank you.
Thanks Tiff. Brian Tracy has a time management book about eat that frog too ✨Cheers
That's amazing. Don't mind the people saying the degree is useless. They still haven't realized their mistakes. Going to school is a time where you grow your network with your coursemates, professors e.t.c. You also join school organizations relevant to your course of study as you can stay up to date and get job opportunities. Finally and most importantly do internships in your field of study. That's how to School and when you graduate you will be getting job interviews as you have a competitive advantage.
Good for you Tiff.... Something I'm thinking also beneficial for AI career security and higher hourly pay is to learn Python 3.... 🙋
Would be interesting to hear from you about how much math is needed, which kinds of it (linear algebra, calculus, statistics or whatever) and how you approach learning it (if you don't already know it). Or, on the other hand, how far can you get in ML/AI without mathematics. Thanks for the vid!
No math is needed except some concept of linear algebra and NO stats
But everything is done by the algorithm unless you wanna dive in witch is unnecessary
Is math hard in cs?
Thanks for this wonderful insight. please what do you use to create/edit your videos, I mean what tool(s) do you use? I want to start making UA-cam videos and i am struggling to decide which tools to use
This may be unusual but I find that intermittent learning music theory (also composing and improvisation) helps me while learning other things like ML and AI.
FOMO!!!! I so want to take that course!!! But sadly I am working late, and can't make it to class. I would SOOOO love to take a class with you! And best of all, you chose George Brown!!! Right next to Casa Loma. Have you ever been to Casa Loma???
I want to study it too. With an emphasis on generative AI. Love it as a user now, GPT-4, DALL-E. Prompting, learning and enjoying it
Right!? It is so interesting and there is so much to learn around it!!
Yes captain marvel ❤it's me😊
GAN is great
Hi Tiff, thank you so much for your video's, they have really helped me learn allot about the industry. I want to use the next 2 years to gather the necessary knowledge, skills and certificates to get into the industry, at the moment Im stuck between Cybersecurity and Software Engineering. In your opinion which of the two has the better job market for the future?
I am in school too, taking classes in electricity and at home I began teaching myself how to code in python. with just a few days of learning I have written a few codes. I made a simple card game.
Thank you for the video. Is this program that you will be going back to school for a masters degree program? I have been looking for some advice on if it would even be worth me looking to go back to school and get a masters. I am working in DevSecOps and it seems like certifications (especially cloud certifications) seem to be the best thing to go for but I want to know if there would be any benefits to getting a masters and if so what degree would be best?
I use the blooms taxonomy approach to learning.
Hi, I'm 38 years old studying English in college, because I had some circumstances in my life that made me droped out of school. I have started learning Python, but I do not know what I should be specialist in. I like programming part more than designing interfaces, and I need to do something big in my life so I think in AI. But, in the other hand, I think maybe I have to learn back-end development to get job faster, because it is easier and I have no job right now.
Get a secretary helper job first in the financial or health or some other niche factor like sportswear. And specialise from there your data and developer knowledge. Niche devs are rarely jobless
I think if your linguistic level is pro level, you can learn anything
On this day, specifically January 16, 2020, I met Tiff by following her on all social media. I benefited a lot from her and learned a lot from her. Today is a holiday for me and her, and I hope we can be friends with each other until the last day of my life. I hope you reach the top. Don't think I'm naughty, no, I love you
I’m transitioning from UA-cam manager/Video editor to Data science and Machine learning at 36 with two kids 🎉 so wish me luck 😂😂😂
I’m also a morning person I try to study after i drop the kids on the school and then afternoon it’s for meeting and work related
i've decided to go back to school to learn AI & ML while working fulltime swe too. Self-teaching is no where near comparable.

Good luck Tiff, Im learning ML/AI as well, self learning route tho. Please do share what exactly they are teaching you at GB so we can learn too :)
May I ask what resources are you using for the self learning route?
The question is what you exactly study? If I would try to be practical probably by Example with PyTorch or Tensorflow? Or really the Math behind (more or less linear algebra, basic stochastics, a bit calculus)? I dont think you need to enroll into an unversity for that.
Hi friends! I hope you enjoy this video! These tips on how I balance working full time and studying will help you regardless it is of what you are up-skilling on! What are some other tips that help you balance working full time and continuing to up-skill?
You can mention which industry or field uses which technique in terms of AI/ML? For example, I didn't know that there's this method called "Reinforcement Learning" and it's being used in the gaming industry. It's important detail for me at that time. Because I would like to work as Data Scientist in the gaming companies :)
If it is a technical example, I think you can find a way to generalize the terms and everything.
Discipline and focus are the answers. Never give up
What are the online courses you recommend to learn AI and machine learning?
lovely
OMG! Night school!? How will you have the time for this, You're amazing😍🔥Tiff bring something about Cyber Security fields
Me encanto tu explicacion actualmente estoy estudiando un postgrado en ciencias de datos y machine learning y me gustaria hacerte consultas como haces para trabajar todo el dia en ML and IA y generar dinero para vivir🤭
If the goal is to use Ai efficiently do you think AI/ML is necessary? Im thinking not but emphasizing on higher order would
Hi, I am a java programmer with the age 40 and persuing math bachelor degree. Is AI/ML really an area where I can apply my programming skills&math? People used to say programming is related to math, but as a programmer, I obviously know programming doesn't need math. I want direct use of math where I can utilize what I learned from my math degree. And is AI/ML area open to programmers with the age 40+? As a web programmer, I am already facing agism so I know agism is at play here.
What about making time for having a personal life? How do you make time for that on top of everything else?
Mam Could you provide the Ml/AI course link that you are taking
Course link? By the way great video mam
Waking up an hour early to do all those life management tasks helps
Hi,I’m also a traders investor in stocks ,commodities but never knew how AI,ML is used in trading?
nice! i too am doing an ML course from harvardx
Nice! Are you enjoying it
@@TiffInTech Yes, it is challenging though....hmu if you are interested in doing a collab :)
Tiff, go for it! Always good to learn! The only limitation is the cognitive brain functioning--ha-ha-ha--no kidding! You are young and smart, the first graduatley decreasing, but the latter is ONLY INCREASING!
I'm so happy I made productive decisions about my finances that changed my life forever, hoping to retire next year.. Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life
That's awesome!!! I know nothing about investment and I'm keen on getting started. What are the strategies?
The first step in every successful investment is to establish your goals and risk tolerance, a task best undertaken with the assistance of a financial advisor with extensive financial market knowledge like Fergus Waylen
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing him been mentioned here also Didn't know he has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, i'm in my fifth trade with him and it has been super
YES!!! That's exactly his name (Fergus Waylen) so many people have recommended highly about him and am just starting with him from Brisbane Australia
I don't want to put a figure to how much i've made doing that but let's just say it's more than enough to make trading worthwhile. And when i say worthwhile, i mean it.
Do you have any suggestions for coding languages relevant to the AI and Machine Learning educational track, particularly for building and creating in this arena especially deep learning?
Python is the major language. Other languages are used to but ultimately they have to be able to play in the Python ecosystem.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752 thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it. I had to switch degree programs recently and I have been seeing this trend towards data science in business arena. I'm starting a data science degree program with a concentration in deep learning. I really like the idea of working with large language models and machine learning. Do you have any more suggestions or advice for me?
i didn't go to college. What are my chances of finding a job?is college important?

In your other video you mentioned to take coursera on deep learning , why didn’t you take this approach and opted to go to school instead? It’s a genuine question
Hi tiff, Im planning to try again to land a job as front end developr without a degree while at the same time Im preparing going back to university, sometimes I just find it hard to make a choice and need some opinion. What should I do?
I'm not Tiff but I am a full stack dev. I would say what ever motivates you to stay up till 2am and work, choose that path and stay focused until you reach your goals
A black turtleneck suits you :)
anyone who can give good advice if university of the people computer science degree and masters is any good?
Microsoft education vs courseera vs etc?

Such a COINCIDENCE you’re taking that class. Been eyeing that program lately. I’ll likely start with their data analytics , then data engineering program. May also do the Information Security certificate afterwards.
Hi friend!
NewYourk city is one of the most popular and famous in the world therfore people also much more forward than other countries So not only from one side but every aspect of the life upgraded version of today's life in this city someone really say that 'they are lucky to live in heaven'.
So no need to say anything about it but learning is everything and most of the other things are that the other countries people are learning from that of forward people who lived in the this city . So thanks for your sharing your thought.
Lovely Lamp with a Loop in the Background. The program is $369 US
Just a caveat with this from someone who already did a Master in a smilar field.
Unless you are very interested in statistics and patient enough to get to the juicy part of ML and AI, most of the time you will be learning a lot of outdated models and early theories. Don't be discourage that you don't understand anything because people surrounding will most likely do not know anything as well. A lot of buzzwords you will have to learn but in the end if you filter them out, it's very simple and most of it are just maths and logics.
For me it's the same hour to wake up whether 5:30 am or 5:45 am :)
for me I like the job
