academia is a useless business in 2024. It shouldn't exist anymore, its legalized slavery with virtually zero utility for humanity. Innovation comes from businesses anyways simply because the goal for them isn't to write useless papers, but to actually make something useful out of novel findings. I regret wasting 4 years of my life doing a phd, if I had spent that time working in a junior position in any business that experience would have been more valuable than the phd itself. I am literally competing with bachelors and masters with teh same experience I have... and the phd literally does not count shit.

Remember this: Healthcare is an intricate and demanding field that requires years of experience to master. Consider this: 90% of individuals enter nursing school, but only 10% stay for a long and fulfilling career. If you're passionate about saving lives and contributing to people's well-being, then the healthcare industry is where you belong. However, if your primary motivation is financial gain, you'll likely find yourself seeking an exit. It's important to recognize that while AI is advancing rapidly, human lives are at stake, making critical thinking an absolute necessity in this industry.

I enjoyed the programming the aspect of the undergradate degree. I initially didn't care for statistics in my graduate degree, but loved it once I started applying it to clinical trials. I will have to look to find several careers that fits my love of science, statistics, and computer science.

Thanks a ton Tina for this awesome video!
I'm now my master's in Bioinformatics as I was a biochemist originally and then I started watching your channel in my undergrad and got a passion for coding and data science so I tried to transition into a more computational subject. So a big thank you again as I was able to find something that I love doing.
It's super cool to see how much AI, especially in drug design, is changing things every single day to be honest and is hard to keep up in just one field with everything. Every day there's something new in AI, even when GPT-4 came out, as a programming newbie, it can be a bit overwhelming and I started questioning if I should keep studying coding until
I realised all skills are usefull and coding will still be a valued skill and transferable even if one day our robotic overlords will code for us :D ! But I know my field has a lot of potential however i want to escape the standard working style in research in both academia and industry so I am always on the lookout for new job opportunities that might fit my skills.
Although i love my field I realised I want to spend more time for myself and family and obviously watching 12-25 episodes of anime in one sitting even thought I said I will only watch 1. So I ll keep on looking for jobs which can match the lifestyle which I want to achieve.
Love your work - it really helps to stay in the loop and motivate me to keep going and expanding my view!

Hey Tina, Watched this video today. It's pretty clear from the level of education that jobs like the ones presented will work for someone smart like you. My take is however that there are not many of these jobs available, not as many jobs as will be replaced with AI. It's not possible for 80% of the graphical designers to find jobs making presentations, making plans and selling "green" solutions, eventho I expect with traning many of them could be good at it.

Just wanted to commend you and how awesome your videos are. From what I notice these days there are a lot of lazy content creators relying heavy on the thumbnails and click bait like titles. Hey mates, I think the best answer is to learn everything as much as you can. As you can find your passion through your dedication and dreams.

imagine thinking (and making videos) that education is one of the best upcoming jobs with AI, when AI will literally replace schools and kids will be homeschooling with robots
what an incredible lack of awareness

Hi Tina! I have been a fan of ur videos for a while and i'm heading to college very soon and at a very big crossroad in my life. I was really interested in dentistry/medicine because of the impact I could make but hearing about all the schooling and debt had me really worried and doubtful so I switched my mind (albeit pretty last second) to a more technical degree. However that being said, hearing about the career where the guy uses AI to help 3D print molds for jaw reconstruction seems like a really interesting blend between both industries! I am trying to research more about it online but can't find out anything... Does anyone have more information?

Based on some job titles in this video that require AI but don't explicitly mention it, I'd like to kindly suggest a new name for your current job: "Voyaging Multidimensional Data Sorcery Sage & Online Visionary" .. You crafted your own VMDSSOV career :p
    Also very interesting video :)

How did you manage to jump from pharma to computer science? It's so hard to jump to a tech based program when most of the prerequisites need a bachelors in Comp Sci/Stats/Math etc

AI is already overrated so don't do it, because it's cut throat, instead focus on what piques your curiosity, do what you do best and soon enough you'd get paid.
