- These are the 10/9 songs that helped me learn guitar the most. It helped me so much I didn’t even have to learn the pentatonic scale, I just knew it. To clarify, I know some licks from Cliffs of Dover, just not enough to play it.
Here is the list :
1. Steppin’ Out (BBC Sessions) - Cream
2. Crossraods (Live) - Cream
3. Marry Had a Litlle Lamb - Stevie Ray Vaughan
4. Lenny - Stevie Ray Vaughan
5. The Girl I Love She’s Got Long Black Wavy Hair (BBC Sessions) - Led Zeppelin
6. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straights
7. The Working Man - Creedence Clearwater Revival
8. Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan
9. Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson

thanks for showing these realistic performances, with all the rough edges. there's so much "depressingly perfect" musician content on youtube, that makes you want to chuck your instrument away. this is a honest documentation of a journey. keep on rocking!
agreed
Yeah, I was tired of that too, that’s why I did it this way. I could have redone the takes 100 times but what’s the point in that.
Nice video buddy. I've have to say though that Hendrix actually knew all the theory. Literally all of it. People seem to think he was a savant but he studied everything.
He did say in an interview though that he couldn’t read music and that’s why he made so many mistakes. I missinterpreted that as he doesn’t understand theory.
No one person knows “all the music theory” it’s called theory for a reason, Jimi may have some formal knowledge but there is no possible way he would know “All theory” lol.
Also he definitely was a gift to guitar, calling him a savant isn’t wrong.
@@pap1140 I think the fact that he had perfect pitch also gave him an advantage
Rock out dude this is sick. I’m close to the same level of guitar maybe a bit under you so this helps a ton. Keep shredding my guy 🤝🤝
Good content, really makes you stand out from the rest!!
Great content! I’m just getting back into guitar after over a decade of not playing and will definitely work on these tunes to build my chops back up!
Thanks, that’s great, these are really fun to play so have fun!
Definitely had a crack at a fair few of these, well done and I echo other peoples comments much rather see a real performance than one that's been recorded 100 times to get perfect, who has time for that! It's prompted me to give lenny a go been meaning to for ages.... Just gotta keep one of the guitars in drop tuning long enough!
All of these were pivotal listening for me when I started playing guitar. I didn't learn them all, but took things from most of them. You're right, these solos work brilliantly as tutorial pieces for Blues Guitar (great to see the Zeppelin rarity in here). In my own personal journey, I would add 'Lazy' by Deep Purple and Freebird of course.
