I ordered the woodwin pro 36 a month ago and I love it! The smoke flavor it produces out of a pellet grill is in a class of its own! App is very simple and overall I just love it
Great nuanced presentation and analysis. As a LSG Pellet owner (and owner of 2 other LSG cookers) that Camp Chef is an amazing value and I would be lying if I didn't wish LSG incorporated a way to add wood chunks into the cook like it did (even if in my case I'd just smoke on my offset if I'm going to do that work, that's a great and relatively easy option that was just super smart on CC's part).
For me, you've really hit the nail on the head. Have been eyeing all kinds of pellet smokers and then learned about the ultimate option being a LoneStar, but I just couldn't bankroll that option... really loved the Pitboss's sear feature, but i needed th make sure i got smoke flavor as much as possible... and a griddle can give me a sear still, so i ordered myself the woodwinpro 36 with the griddle sidekick. Super excited to get it.
Im on the market for a great smoker looked at traeger pitboss weber masterbuilt loads of different one and Unfortunately for us across the pond in England getting hold of a lonestar is super hard nearing impossible without coming to the states and bringing it back so this ones looking like the winner for me. Thanks for the video it helped alot 👍
Is it necessary to use a high smoke setting when using the smoker box? In my experience with CC, a high smoke setting ( above 5) results in wide temperature fluctuations ( 20 -30 degrees) because the firebox is smoldering rather than cooking the pellets.
I've been researching pellet grills, trying to find the best for me. I'm a newbie with pellet grill for sure. I was settled on the WW pro but I'm not sure about the height you get from the base grill grate to the lid. I normally do a 20-ish lb turkey at Thanksgiving and want to make sure there is enough headroom in the box. Can you speak to that, or give the measurements? Thanks for your great vidieos.
Best bang for your buck is the Masterbuilt Gravity 800/900/1050. When running only wood splits on the MB gravity series, you won't be able to tell the difference between that and an offset. Better yet, the MB is significantly less than both ($650 from Costco, and comes with a pizza oven attachment), it has double wall insulation, it gets up to 700 degrees, and to top it off, you can use it as a hot hold oven since it goes all the way down to 150 degrees.
The Gravity Series is a great option! I'm still waiting for masterbuilt to answer my texts, emails, and direct messages on Instagram.... apparently selling 1000+ grills for them isn't enough to continue to work with me.

Price in the UK for the Pro was a bit prohibitive, but getting the older version allowed me the budget to get the sidekick and the griddle, grill and pizza oven. Its great fun and so versatile. I have a beef rib comparison video between the MB800 and this WWPro, and they are super close! I also ran the MB on charcoal and wood chunks… ive seen people run it only on wood splits and I’m sure in that case its better than the WWPro
Looking to add a pellet smoker to my outdoor kitchen setup. I am shopping between Traeger Ironwood and Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. I have a pizza over, Traeger flatrock, gas grill, and charcoal grill. Primary use would be for seafood and chicken. Red meat only when I have guest over because my family and I don't eat it. Is there a right or wrong choice between the two? Anything that would sway one over the other?

I loved the video! I am at decision point and looking at the Woodwind pro 36. Is the rust issue I read about fixed with the Is new pro? And how comparable is their vertical XXL Pro to this?
@@AndersonsSmokeShowThanks, that is definitive! Curious what the biggest few factors are. I do have a propane grill I will continue to use. Space isn't an issue.
Did I miss the XXL pro followup? I looked around and didn't see it. Thanks for the rec. on the Woodwind vs. the XXL. ,Would love to hear if you feel the same knowing I have a nice propane weber grill and why? As I was grilling some nice filets tonight I was arguing with myself! 😃 Love the channel
"High smoke" doesn't mean "the most smoke". I always set my temperature and smoke independently and smoke is always at 10 for me..... oh and wood in the smokebox too!
I mean, if we are being fair, the LSG has the ability to do some of the same things as the WWP. Searing is something the LSG can do over the fire pot, or with the charcoal set up however I will acknowledge the WWP makes it way easier with the side kick and so does the Treagur with its induction cooktop. LSG can cold smoke and do lower holding temps, as well as has a pizza oven insert and 4 probes on the cabinet pellet smoker, all LSGs have 40lb hoppers. Ultimately, the LSG is more versitile as it can use wood chips or pellets or just utilize charcoal. In my mind, the LSG is the best choice but the price! At any rate, I have had a treagure for 6 years, and it has done awesome. I am now saving for the LSG pellet cabinet smoker, and im sure my treagure will still be chugging along until then.
While all those points are valid, you didn't mention that the WWPro has the smokebox which is something no other pellet grill has and is a HUGE feature in the market. WWPro can also cold smoke with the smokebox and utilize a fan only mode. LSG does go lower temp for holding. There is not a doubt in my mind that the LSG is a better built smoker.... honestly by far, but we have to remember that $1000 for a grill is pushing it for many people, let alone 2x, 3x, 4x the price. To cover all the features and options you mentioned in your comment, the LSG in 36" would run about $4200 with shipping, whereas the comparable setup with the WWPro is about $2100. Literally half the price. Is the LSG worth double? I actually think so because of the quality and craftsmanship, but at the same time I can't knock the WWPro for offering industry leading features and options at half the price and being more available/attainable for the general public.
When I was a kid my dad bought a brand new 1995 Ford Escort. It had manual locks and crank windows… to him at that time it was a great car, but now he drives a loaded Ford pickup. I feel like it’s the same argument. Buy the best that you can afford and enjoy it, because you’ve earned it.
What about this woodwind pro compared to the masterbuilt line and char grill 980 which are actual wood and charcoal. Seems like camp chef wwp needs a gravity variant if you can put chunks and charcoal in there. Almost seems like might as well get a gravity then.
I actually did a comparison between the WWPro and Gravity Series last summer. I DO WANT to redo that video with the new XT, but I haven’t been able to get one yet
Hey I was wondering if you've ever used a recteq and what you think of them? I have had my rt700 for over 5 years now and am trying to decide if I want to upgrade to a new recteq or maybe try the campchef. While I'd love the lonestar I don't think i can muster that much of a price difference. Thanks!
I think Recteq makes a nice product, I've never cooked on one but I've been around there as one of my friends has one. I've been half tempted to try and get one of those newer Bullseye that can reach 1000F
I need someone to tell me if the $499 members mark 36" pellet grill is an affordable dupe for the camp chef. It's one of the only others I have found that you can add wood chunks to similar to the camp chef.
I’ve been a big fan of the gravity series since it came out. I’ve got the 800 and the 560, but I haven’t been able to get a hold of an XT yet. I’ve reached out to Masterbuilt about five different times, to two different people and couldn’t get a response from anyone… Nor have I seen one available.
Be sure to use LSG's wood chips in the comparison, 50/50 blend or even 40/60. Cant use the WWP with chunks, without using the chips in the LSG. Looking forward to the cook off video, i asked for that months ago when you showed off the LSG for the first time! Lol thanks bud 👍
I just want to thank you for your channel and what you do. It would be cool to meet you in person. You have any products for sale? Spices etc. I am going to get this grill in June sometime and look forward to to it. George
I appreciate that! Nothing for sale at the moment, but working on that! When it comes time to ordering that Camp Chef, consider using my affiliate link as it lets Camp Chef know I sent you an I make a little commission off the sale
About 45 minutes or so.... I just cooked a brisket the other day on my WW Pro 36". I filled the smoke box 3-4 times, basically for the first 3-4hrs of the cook as it's not needed after that.
@@TheChadillac Appreciate the response, that’s similar to my experience. Gotta say overall I’m loving my grill, it really gets a great Smokey flavor in there with tons of convenience, and the flattop attachment has been amazing
Haha I'm dying to upgrade to the WWP but my DLX is going strong still. The dream would be to get a Lonestar but the cost is a lot personally for a weekend griller, either way great video!
I would love to see a comparison of the WWP and the member's mark 36. You can buy 3 MM36's for the price of 1 WWP without the sidekick. It has a slightly different smoke box but if it works than it might crush the WWP in value.
any opinions on the Weber Searwood XL? I'm not concerned about searing on my smoker.. I'd rather use my grill. been wanting an offset too, but being in Northeast Ohio I'm not sure about getting wood...haven't looked into the wood thing too muh yet..
I just bought one. Wi-Fi works great it does get up to temp really fast like the attachments they make for it. I tried ribs on it and did not get the deep red color I was looking for but I think it was my fault and still getting used to the smoker. To be honest though I have a little electric smoker that used wood chips and that thing gave good bark and good smoke flavor I’m not sure if this Weber will be able to do that from just pellets alone. I think I may have made a mistake by not getting the camp chef with their smoker box built in. I bought a smoke box that I think im going to try and use with my searwood if I can’t get the bark I want.
@klil82 oh yeah! It’s one of the best pellet smokers on the market! Now it’s a better smoker than it is a grill, just due to the way it’s made. The searwood might be a better grill, which is something I’d personally like to see
Took me a year to figure out some tricks. I rarely need 36 inches, so I reduce the area with pans filled with wood chunks. On both shelfs. To reduce it to 24 inches. So when I cook anything, those chunks dries out & catch smoke flavor. So when I need them, they burn better. My gaskets are all destroyed. Need to replace all of them. I melted all temps probe, but replaced them with full stainless steel 600 F safe probe. From Fireboard. I had to buy jack adaptors because they are not the same size as CampChef. I smoke E V E R Y D A Y. Everything. Pizza. Chicken pie. Moose Meat. Bear Jerky. Bacon. Name it. I will never consider another smoker without a smokebox. BTW. Your smoker looks much newer than mine.
Both grills have technology, so the cheaper option makes a lot more sense for upgrading after 5 years. There may be a lot lost in trying to go with the lasts 30 years machine.
That’s a fair point. Some of the cheaper pellet grills only last a couple seasons, whereas that LSG will last much longer. If a person is cooking very often for a crowd… then I’d go LSG all day
In terms of capabilities, even with those you mentioned, they cannot compete with the versatility of the WWPro. BUT tonight we will see how the WWPro stacks up against the LSG in a brisket cook off!
I had a pittboss for 4 years It was great. But build quality was so poor. Was about to fall apart. I’ve had the LSG pellet for 2 years now. I think it may out live me. No comparison. As they say You get what you pay for
Can confirm that's all it did😂 was hoping it was an auto shutdown of the temps spike well beyond your set temp. Like an actual mode for running unsupervised lol
Kind of hard to take this serious when your affiliate link to them. Say what you will but when someone has a link for you to make money on it’s not really an honest review
@@rogerkernas an affiliate I have no obligation to lie about anything, but if my video persuades someone to buy one shouldn’t I get a commission? Channels don’t run on hopes and dreams

About how long of a smoke can I get out of a full hopper on the Woodwind Pro 36?
About 45 minutes or so.... I just cooked a brisket the other day on my WW Pro 36". I filled the smoke box 3-4 times, basically for the first 3-4hrs of the cook as it's not needed after that.
@@TheChadillac Appreciate the response, that’s similar to my experience. Gotta say overall I’m loving my grill, it really gets a great Smokey flavor in there with tons of convenience, and the flattop attachment has been amazing
@@TheChadillacyou got to be 💩 me?.....I had a first generation Treager and could do about a 10 hour 225° cook on that.....45 min. seems ridiculous
Haha I'm dying to upgrade to the WWP but my DLX is going strong still. The dream would be to get a Lonestar but the cost is a lot personally for a weekend griller, either way great video!
Hey nothing wrong with that! Put that DLX to good use, and save up a little while it finishes its career 🤣
What is model number and where can I get this one at. You always do a great job on your stuff
Here is a link to the exact one:

Thanks. I really appreciate it. If you was to go buy a grill and had your 2 choices wood you buy this one or a pit boss pro series. George
This is definitely a better smoker than the pit boss, especially if you are going to be smoking!
Thanks. Have a great Memorial Day weekend's. I really appreciate you and what you do on the channel to help us. George in Omaha, ne
I love my WWP!
Got that that Christmas giveaway WWPro too!
Any good ideas on cooking corn on cob?
I boil it with milk and butter
I have a video on it from a few summers ago
This is the way!💯@@AndersonsSmokeShow
I would love to see a comparison of the WWP and the member's mark 36. You can buy 3 MM36's for the price of 1 WWP without the sidekick. It has a slightly different smoke box but if it works than it might crush the WWP in value.
I have not seen that particular Members Mark grill, I’ll have to check it out!
any opinions on the Weber Searwood XL?
I want to try one! Haven't seen one in person yet though! Anyone know someone at Weber?
Woodwind pro or weber searwood ?
Heard the searwood is sweet, but I’ve never seen one in person.
@@AndersonsSmokeShow are you still using the woodwind? Donyou still like it
@klil82 oh yeah! It’s one of the best pellet smokers on the market! Now it’s a better smoker than it is a grill, just due to the way it’s made. The searwood might be a better grill, which is something I’d personally like to see
I really want you to do a review on the new gorilla mammoth vertical smoker ?
I’ve seen it in person and it looked nice! Just for you, I just messaged Grilla Grills to see if they are interested in working together!
@@AndersonsSmokeShow hell yeah
Sounds like you overall you are happy with your investment?
@@AndersonsSmokeShow I would buy it again anytime. I cannot see something better at that price range. Whatever "problems" it may have.
You're nearing 100K subs!
So close!
what happened to the steaks? all gob and no results
lol sorry! They were great!
If a person is cooking very often for a crowd… then I’d go LSG all day
Really appreciate your content. I think the wwp will make a very nice first smoker.
Lone star grills, Yoder, Also think the new Weber looks better.
In terms of capabilities, even with those you mentioned, they cannot compete with the versatility of the WWPro. BUT tonight we will see how the WWPro stacks up against the LSG in a brisket cook off!
I had a pittboss for 4 years
It was great. But build quality was so poor. Was about to fall apart.
I’ve had the LSG pellet for 2 years now. I think it may out live me. No comparison.
As they say
You get what you pay for
100%! You definitely do, but for many people it’s out of reach!
So mine has a "night mode" does anyone here know what that does? Lol
I’ve never messed with it, but I think it’s like dark mode for the controller screen
Can confirm that's all it did😂 was hoping it was an auto shutdown of the temps spike well beyond your set temp. Like an actual mode for running unsupervised lol
We didn't get to see the finished ribeyes 😅
oooops!
Wood wind is better than lsg Change my mind
Recteq takes a dump on camp chef
In smoking capabilities? Nah
@@AndersonsSmokeShow it for sure does. The quality of the 2 isnt comparable
😂
Rectec has a good build quality, but it will not beat the WW Pro in terms of smoke flavor
