    2 lovely looking builds there. Always need a fire pit for your heroes to jump over for their dramatic entrace. :)

    love this build, it's always nice to see things that not everyone is building. you always seem to come up with fresh ideas these are 2 I'll definitely be nicking at some point. I'm not crafting now until I return back to work in march. ( as it's my job) recently built a huge Castle in my tiny Kitchen in just short of a week and I finished another project off at the same time. it was exhausting, I had no space to work no space to cook my meals it was a real pain so no more working from home unless the projects are small.

    Ah, finally we learn your name, well met, Allan! Tim here...
    That multi-layering of foam for the the fountain build is looking really good, creating a nice depth.
    Water effects are top notch - and of course the king of moss is back! :- )

    Another way to make a water spout in your fountains n such which is more sturdy than your hot glue. Is to use some fishing line coming from the spout down into your water and pour a little bit of epoxy over it.

    • @irongryphon
      @irongryphon  3 роки тому

      That's an excellent idea, I'll see if anyone I know has spare fishing line 👍🏻🙂

      @@irongryphon I've been doing dioramas since the 80s. I stopped making them 15 yrs ago, but after watching your videos and others on youtube for dnd. I've finally got back into doing it again, and I also found an old notebook I had kept notes of all my old builds.
      One was an old technique to make water. In the 80s bar top epoxy wasnt available where we lived unless you were a cabinet maker, etc. So we used to use what we had available to us in the 80s early 90s. We made our water features like streams, rivers or lakes using modeling clay, sculpted to look like waves. Once dry, we covered the clay with plaster we brushed on and after it dried then we'd paint it with gloss acrylic paint and then coat it with gloss varnish to achieve our water effect before having access to epoxy in any hardware store. We made up our own methods back then to achieve the look for our dioramas we needed.
      I might go back and reuse some of my old methods for new dioramas so not to forget how to do them.

    Yay! Another video :3
    So i wondered where do you get this grey-ish 5mm foam, did you order it from the web or your "crafting" store sells it? Because i've not find in my country in our "crafting store" any foam that look like it: ones i find always seems tougher than the one you use (just with the aluminium foil ball texturing. The closest i have is 1cm foam that i need to force a bit my alu-ball into to print some textures :( Anyway, that's not really relevant as infos ^^
    What's interresting me more the this paste (@6.28) name "acrylic paste" -> What's your exp with that component?
    A fire pit is a nice idea to populate any interior. Just the wash (@9.00) make the fire in the pit alive by diffrencing what'll burn and what's burning of what's burned ^^ Nice painting job.
    (@11.15) yep, as you push this tiny cylinder into that grey foam, i realise that i've not seen this kind of foam around me, insert sadface
    Btw, I really love this cylinder texturing, kinda rare to see it, and i love to see you using it here, that's out of the box clever :3
    Oh god, so many layers, this fountain is awesome
    (@15.40) Water streams from hot glue, it make this thing so alive
    (@17.10) Ok x)
    Awesome video. And I begin to feel frustrated to not see all the builds all together, it has to give such authentics vibes :D

      For the foam i'm seeing your response in another coms :p

    • @irongryphon
      @irongryphon  4 роки тому +1

      I'll try to send you a link for the foam if you like 🙂 it comes as a 1cm thick sheet, which I slice in half to 5mm.
      The Vallejo acrylic texture (dark earth) paste I use is fairly useful for quick and easy builds. Half the time you wouldn't even need to paint it. Its safe to use on foam, and takes paint and glues perfectly fine. I've gotten alot of use from my fairly small tub of it 👍🏻🙂 always a pleasure reading your comments mate 👍🏻😀

    Hi, Alan (hope I spelled that right), I was wondering about the dark grey XPS foam you use. Is that a UK-only brand or is there some way to get it in Canada?

    • @irongryphon
      @irongryphon  4 роки тому

      Hi there 🙂👍🏻 it seems to be the easiest foam to get my hands on. I wouldn't say it's UK only, but I get it on eBay, but it's only 1cm thick and I would like to get my hands on some thicker stuff. I know Canada has much thicker sheets due to the climate and the need for thicker insulation board 👍🏻
