  • Thanks for tuning into our first video of the build series! In this video, we install our sound deadening material and minicell foam insulation for our floor. We chose Kilmat for the sound deadening and used 3/8 inch minicell for insulation. Throughout the process, we will try to explain as we go, and talk about things we learned. Hopefully this will help others with their project! FULL DISCLAIMER....We are by no means, professionals! This was all filmed with an iPhone(camera setup coming soon), and we are as green as they come with building a van. With that said, we are always open to learn tips and tricks of the trade! Enjoy, and please like and subscribe! You can also follow our Instagram @rb_advantures

Solid video with lots of specific details and info eg like size of torx and removing of plastic trim and D rings. Looking forward to watching more of your build.

I found this channel randomly; it is really a channel that produces quality content. Congratulations!

Kilmat doesn't need that much on a floor. Just put it on some areas that are "springy" like you did on side panels.
Insulation wise I think you should have looked at some better info to solve that.

Thanks for watching, and thanks for the input. We researched many different configurations for the floor, and this was our favorite. The Kilmat made a HUGE difference in the road noise, and I would do it the same way again if I had to do it over. Sara and Alex James over at Custom Crafted Vans do it this way, and have been in the game for a long time. Good luck with your van build.

Nice job. Seems like a slightly different approach than some people are doing. This is the first time I have seen the existing sub floor in the van, most seem to start from bare metal. Will watch some more. Thanks,

Thanks for watching! And yes, we view the factory sub floor as being the perfect application. It was literally engineered for the van!lol and it’s a high grade plywood. Makes sense to us!

Great content! Can I ask where you got the mini cell foam and how much you needed for the build? I have the same size van. Thank you!

Came to your channel with a search on OEM floor. Doing almost the exact same. Did you keep the wood spacing underneath the OEM floor or did you take them out?

Thank you, very helpful. Did you rent the space in the plane hanger? We live in a townhome and our garage is too low and we have no driveway, so we're still trying to figure out where to build.

Glad we could help! This hangar belongs to a family member. They were very generous to let us use the space for the build.
