I mean... the derivative T-38 jet is considered the best trainer in real life...
I can confirm this. Prior to buying it, I had rank 5 jets with hardly any missiles to deal with. At the start, I was a premium Timmy bc I didn't play realistic before, only arcade. Died over and over learning how high tier jets work, making all the noob mistakes. Now I'm a F-5E main who proly plays too much 😂. The fundamentals learned in the F-5C certainly played into my much better kd in the E.

that's why you play USSR specifically the Su25 in this meta. Half the enemy team will be down low bombing and then try to head on your 30mm + 2x23mm gunpods. Seriously, it's just absolute fun. Almost like playing the KV1B. Almost.

@@GeneralLee2000 Sorry not true. There have been so many games where i successfully bombed a base and then turn around and get a couple of kills. To say the F5-c is useless for bombing is just wrong. I ground out the majority of the American air tree this way so I'm pretty confident that bombing is quite useful in the F5-C. @Statink Your burnout comes from you expecting your team to play the way you want to play. Remeber people buy these planes to grind out the trees because maybe they don't have enough time in there lives and a premium just helps them do it faster. How about trying to escort your bombers, that should net you a few kills.
It sounds like the 5C's missiles put it in pretty much the same handicap as the 5E in uptiers. Personally I find them best saved for targetting someone who isn't doing a rate turn, but is jinking enough that guns are a waste of ammo in a near-knifefight.
They basically only hit slow, crippled or unaware planes

Even though I grinded 95% of the U.S. tech tree with this thing, I'm not too fond of it. The energy retention and turns are great and all but the lack of good missiles, weak engines, low top speed, and mediocre guns at best don't fit my play style maybe if the f5c got 4 aim9e's and got moved to 10.0 away from mig-23's I'd like it a lot more. If anyone is thinking about getting it I'd recommend the av8b instead, lower br very good acceleration and great missiles make the grind a bit more bearable even if it is not as competitive in dog fights.
The dogfighting ability is kind of its selling point. Playing the airframe, it feels almost like cheating sometimes. Proper positioning at the start of games (don't just send it head-first) can net you plenty of kills even with the Aim-9E's and set you up for plenty of gun shots. If you catch someone slow and get on them with allot of energy, there is no escape... Feels like a fantastic 10.3 but that could just be having way too much time in-game against noobs talking...
I'm not a massive fan of it either, purely because of the lackluster damage of the guns. A dogfighting plane with guns that don't do consistent damage doesn't sit right with me. AV-8 is a reliable grinder but boring
@@GeneralLee2000 I can definitely see the inconsistent damage part. Sometimes it takes a good burst to score a kill. Found good results with Armored Target belts scoring tons of internal damage with a good burst and turning me into a flying arson charge though
@@Registered_Simp yeah, I use armored targets. Only issue with that is if you don't hit vitals when it punches through
@@GeneralLee2000 Yep. Though it makes me feel better about the guns when I try and play a Draken with HE belts. Got so many times where it takes 8-12 solid hits just to get a good crit in. Sometimes even 20 hits to kill
Btw instead of running away as soon as you see the mig 23 under belly in the rate fight then you reversal and try and get him to over shoot
POV Every dog fight in the F-5 be like: Shoots at enemy. Crits enemy. Sets enemy on fire. Enemy plumets to ground. Either Harrier or A-10 Shoots a missile at Enemy. They steal your kill.

With the current ridiculous Su25K/A-10/A-6E spam Gaijin might as well reduce it's BR back to 10.0, there is no reason to still sit at 10.3. At least by doing this it could avoid 11.3 uptiers.
I would rather they just move the A-10/A-6/Su-25 up instead personally
@@GeneralLee2000 i feel you i want them uptiered too but let's be real they are the biggest cash cows of Gaijin they will never be uptiered - they already came up with the excuse that these planes are slow (even though they are still manouverable, has good acceleration, kind of okay energy retention, overpowered 4 all aspect missiles at 9.7/10.0, crazy good gun with the vulcan its russian counterpart and the world's all flares)
I kills lot of f5 and mig 21s on low fuel In my f4e lol like a lot I think people underestimate how crazy the phantom on low fuel is because of those big engines
Low fuel F-4E is scary 💯
Even the F-4C is nuts on low fuel, get it below 7 minutes and it's an absolute monster. No slats means better energy retention (at the cost of some AOA), and if you're that low on fuel you've probably used your Sparrows so you're super light. I outrate MiG-21s on the regular and actually beat them in a scissor with a little luck. Phantoms are great.
F4S gaming. Downtiers are a dream since (in America v America matches) the F5C's are oblivious to how to dodge 7F's and just dump flares.

I grinded the usa ground tech tree, but after getting absolutely demolished by CAS and american top tier tanks being less than favourable i decided to buy the f5c scince it was on sale. Scince then, ive learned how to turn without my pilot blacking out every second, how to properly dogfight and of course attack from suprise. It also made me more situationally aware, and is generally a great aircraft. It isnt really reliable, but one kill per match is usually enough to grind a tier 5 jet in a day or two. Would reccomend, 8/10
Ah yes, the F-5C. The aircraft with flares that shouldn't have them but does because it's premium and it's gaijin.
The flare pods weren't even made when the F-5C was in vietnam...

I played five games in the F-5C and I'm not going to play it anymore. Top tier jets is simply too hard for me. I regret wasting my money on this plane.

I played it until the free repairs ran out. Didn’t learn anything. Rarely ever got a kill. Did not like it. Haven’t played it really since. I got it after I already had tier V jets, so it’s not like there was a huge disparity between my skill and the rank it is. I just don’t like it. Now with the MiG-23, F4S, Kfir, Sea Vixen. I can do alright. I get at least a kill a match, survive more than I usually do in lower ranks. Just something about the F5 I don’t like, and I refuse to learn an entirely new play style just to be good with it. Especially since I have the 4S now and don’t need it at all lol

a buddy of mine does well with bombs and gets consistent sl from it but he also gets a kill as well a game but yeah i my self dont run bombs with this because speed issue
If the F-5C had a better TWR I wouldn't mind, but the acceleration just isn't good enough as is for reliable bomruns in most cases. I kill so many bombing F-5Cs haha

UK one: it's eh. It can grind top tier but the missiles are worse than the 4S for the same price (and both get dragged into 12.0 anyways). It's still an Aim 7E-2 with PD do it'll get work done but going to be getting any carries.
@@cookiecraze1310 i've bought the UK Phantom prem back when I posted this then bought the F4S after it got added.
I'd say both Phantoms are fun to use been racking up kills with it lowest would 4 and max would be 7 sometimes 2 of worse getting swarmed but neither way its a fun aircraft to play just have to play smart and know what to do in engaging an enemy and choosing to play defensive.
I just can't seem to get this plane to work for me. Skill issue I know. I prefer the A10 to the F5C as I can usually get more kills plus better at ground pounding. I'm using the A5C to grind the F16 for China and its much more fun to fly than the F5C. great power, excellent missiles and phenomenal energy retention as well as CCIP for all your ordinance at a lower BR than the F5. the guns let it down and top speed let it down but over all much more fun than the F5.
The A-10 does get the AIM-9L which is an exceptional missile, and plenty of ammo for the gun. It's slow, but if you do get past the fighters it racks up lots of ground units... and the 9Ls are basically guaranteed kills if the enemy doesn't have flares. I think the F-5C teaches you better. A-5C is also easy to use, it has a LOT of thrust and magics ahaha
@@GeneralLee2000 right. I think the A5 has ruined jets for me. But I'm sure if I put as much time into the F5 as I have into the A5 I'd get it to work.

Biggest drawback of the mig21 indeed
You have to get then into a close range 1 circle fight to abuse your AoA and kill them quickly. The Mig21 can point its nose insanely well with proper rudder inputs and pull off some bs shots even when its practically stalling out. The issue arises when you try to follow an F5 in a sustained turn because you'll bleed off speed quicker and end up stalling out for them.

Why are you using the F-5C for dogfighting?!?1!! Clearly it is a strategic bomber, just look at the bombloads you can carry. Also, just incase you don;t know you can create custom loadouts which allow you to bring bombs as well as missiles. You should play it like a bomber, trust me I get like 30K RP every single game. I have a winrate of 69% and I played this game alraedy for a long time (2 months, just saying this so you know I am a good player.) @@GeneralLee2000 it would be awesome, I suck at guns on kills in realistic jets, I can get it if I’m lined up perfectly but that’s a blue moon that your opponent doesn’t evade. I think just a video about getting gun kills at angles, and with one cannon/ not much ammo

It 100% is not. Everyone who says it's a good grinder is someone who's already good enough at top tier Jets. Every single time I take it out I can't get guns on anyone, can't get any missile kills, and can't make it to a strategic base before the enemies are already there. I literally have not killed a single person in it and haven't been able to get any RP other than what you get for just playing the match and dying.
It is also not good for ground targets like you say in this. I tried that. It takes too many rounds to pop a tank, even with ground belt. Maybe if you stick to gun emplacements but those are usually where the enemy players are so...
Tbh I think the A-10 is the best grinder. It’s just point click free kill. And unlike the A6E if you get to know the gun or survive the match it’s free ground kills
@@SPFLDAngler air target belts are actually better for soft ground units. HE will one-tap AA and artillery. The F5C is a really good plane once you already understand the basics of top tier jets: maintaining speed and situational awareness, proper flaring techniques, how to avoid radar missiles with chaff and notching, getting lead on supersonic targets, etc. An important thing to learn is to avoid pulling too hard in a turn. You can pull 13-14g in a turn but you really should be pulling like 10g at most to avoid bleeding all your speed.
You can see here he is very clearly flying the f5c and doing very well in it, showing off what you should and shouldn't do in it.

Lvl 3 players should not play jets. Don’t buy a top tier premium unless you are lvl 75+
You see…I’d get the F5-C to grind, but acted countless hundreds of hours I still can’t land bombs without my green circle. So no CCIP/CCRP is a bust for me
