- Follow along as I guide you through the stages of growing microgreens, from: soil mixing, to seeding, to germination & top watering, to growing levels & lights, to harvesting, and finally... tasting!
Microgreens are just tiny plants that you harvest when they’re really young. They’re a powerful superfood and one of the only things you can grow no matter where you live.
But are they the same as normal seeds? Where do you even get them? Are they cheaper to buy or to grow? And do they even taste good?
To find the answers, we visited a microgreen farm to see how these tiny seedlings are grown on a large scale AND a small scale (even if you live in a tiny DT Toronto apartment like me!) at home.
Thank you so much for watching my channel this week, don’t forget to comment below what your favourite microgreen to eat is!!!! I love you!

Facts You’ll Learn In This Video:
1. Microgreens are basically just tiny plants that you harvest when they are really young.
2. Microgreens are one of the only things you can grow successfully no matter where you live.
3. If you were to take a micro green pack and plant the roots in soil after cutting your baby greens for consumption, it would grow into the plant that fruits - like peas or broccoli!
4. It takes microgreens on average of 9-14 days to sprout fully. Sprouts like sunflower takes only 7 days!
5. The humidity of the room you’re growing microgreens should be anywhere between 30% - 60%. The normal winter home humidity temperature is around 45%, and that’s why they grow so easily at home. If humidity is too high, you’ll get mold. If humidity is too low, you’ll turn your room into a desert.
6. Microgreens are anywhere between 4 and 40 times more nutritious than their mature vegetable. Broccoli, for example, you can eat 4 ounces of it and get the equivalent of a pound of a mature head of broccoli. Micro-broccoli is also a much better flavour than its mature vegetable.
7. Microgreens grow by absorbing the light, making sugar from the sunlight or light energy, send that to the roots, then the plant will send signals to the bacteria and fungi (different nutrients that the plants need)…and that’s how the cycle works with the soil microbiology.

I want to grow everything! ❤
I'm also interested in hatching quail eggs, but I know I'll need to wait a few years. We just moved in July, so we have to choose what we want to plant, maybe start to raise chickens, and I'm also super interested in aquaponics❤

As someone who severely struggles with texture issues, I've always wanted an alternative to getting my vegetables and when I heard about micro-greens I literally cried with joy. I'm so hopeful an interested to see where the journey with growing baby veggies goes!!
that is such a cool thing to note! do you use them for smoothies or you just eat them?? thanks for sharing
