Throughout the song she’s saying that she’s still in love with this person even though she’s the second choice and they won’t love her. But she still follows them, fully knowing that they would “leave [her] at the altar”, ie abandon her even at a place that’s known for love and promises. Yet she knows she’s still in love and can’t help but to feel it anyways, regardless of if this person will never reciprocate.
The music video combined with the lyrics makes me sob even more.
The sheer hope that we felt when the camera pans behind her, where it probably indicates the man finally go on the stage to do something that represents his reciprocal but instead.. he walks away from the theatre door.
It hurts more to know, no matter how much deep we showed our love..not even a hesitation in our actions and words..they still choose to walk away :')
