Should NASCAR continue to run races in the rain?
YESSSSSSS
Gues who? KB
Yes
Yes!
Yes and hi can you do more radioactive on Joey logano
NASCAR really needs to improve their windshield wipers when I saw the onboard cam you literally can't see
They need two of them in the correct direction, like a regular car.
Why in the world did they not test the wipers!! Everything else is tested!
They could learn a lot from IMSA
@@colecuster4876 They should already know, they own IMSA. NASCAR teams literally go to IMSA drivers for advice on road racing. The technology used in road courses usually comes from F1 and IMSA.
@@ethanweeter2732 dang I didn’t know that. I’m mostly an F1 fan watching cause COTA so I don’t know too much about windshields
Man all of D’Hondt’s jet ski experience paid off huge.
Too soon haha
yeah he won’t be paid anymore 🤣
I loved being there and watching them at my home track. I hope they come back next year and more than likely will be a dry race, we don’t get a whole lot of rain here anyways.
COTA is a beautiful track though. Truly a stare of the art F1 track.
Nascar just gift-wrapped and handed Chase Elliott the win.
It was their plan from the beginning of the season. Add more road courses so he wins more
@@rynoracing429I am not sure if someone mentioned that. But it just a positive side-effect for Nascar.
Y’all act like he doesn’t win road courses when it doesn’t rain, the man loses one race and now he sucks
@@oscsracingnetwork4759 I not saying that. I am saying that Nascar gift-wrapped this race for him.

That is about as angry as Truex gets.😅
I fully support nascar rain racing.... just not in frickin monsoons.
Lol!😄
best race of the year
Why does nascar management keep embarrassing themselves at these new tracks? It happens every time! Bristol dirt: "we didn't expect cars to kick up dirt." COTA: "we didn't expect cars to kick up water."
But how hard is it to make a windshield wiper that works?
*drivers wreck due to bad conditions in rain race*
Fans: "Stop the race! This is too dangerous!"
*conditions improve, then get worse later. Race is eventually called for those same conditions*
Fans: "Noooooo don't call the race for conditions!!! Elliott is in the lead, rigged!!!!!"
@@jackietang3789 I'm more saying that it is embarrassing that NASCAR did not foresee these problems occurring. It makes the series look like they haven't done their homework

Man, they really need two wipers. That one wiper was so backwards.
I mean one wiper should do the trick if it's designed properly. GT cars usually only have one
Yeah, what Big Tone said. They just need to be engineered better. I imagine not much thought has been put to them because, I mean, how often does NASCAR race in the rain? Hopefully this race will get them thinking about ways to fix
the issue

Pronto, Ryan?
This race looked to be a lot of fun and can't wait for future races here. But I also think NASCAR struggled with this course and how to deal with the rain. Hope they can learn from this.
I definitely want to see this track a date next season, hopefully with dry weather.
Hopefully by next year they'll get some decent wipers on these cars.
...mudflaps might not be a bad idea.
I think the rear diffuser will act as a quasi mud flap.
And both headlights and taillights
Full lights front and rear, wipers that actually work, and I can see this being a welcome addition to the season instead of a point of contention
Ok ok, rain was the main problem but it seems the wipers need an upgrade
And lights, the road course cars need headlights
@@BigBibleman tail lights...headlights are only needed for night racing
@@PugsNotDrugs4 Wait, Road Courses don't have lights?
@@eeeeee4175 No, road courses do not have lights. Some might, but it's probably pretty rare to see. Even some NASCAR ovals don't have lights.
@@eeeeee4175 lol no road courses are miles long and have more than 2 corners
Let's hope wipers are an improvement by next road course. Those things work like they're on some old Land Rover... and even the Land Rover's wipers work somewhat more reliable.
Mostly great race. I LOVE rain races, but measures need to be taken to improve visibility, whether that means changes to the lights or something to combat the spray. Maybe even spotter access to the drivers' live locations to show slowdowns? SOMETHING.
Full headlights and taillights plus better wipers and defoggers for the cars would go a long way, as would reintroducing private testing to include seat time on a skidpan. Let drivers learn how the car behaves in the wet and crews how the setup and fuel consumption changes.
Even with the rain I had so much fun being there i know the drivers didnt like it but it still was a good race

I was excited to see them race at COTA. One of my favorite tracks, but in the rain they had, it was a clusterfuck. I really hope that this didn't put too much of a bad taste for the track in the driver's mouth. I'd love to see them back there for a clear, dry race it's be pretty interesting I think.

It does is stupid putting only one wiper and backwards. Put TWO wipers in the correct way...
This is the kind of racing nascar needs to breathe it new life
More road courses, more weather. It's a shame they called it for such a boring finish though
Come to Aussie Supercars and race around Bathurst in heavy rain then talk about racing in rain
Those cars are purpose built and made to race in bad weather though. They are the F1 of stock cars, right?
They can probably handle it.
It's sad to see how much of a joke NASCAR has become.

Road course cars need a much better rain package on them. The little wiper, defogger, and light aren’t nearly enough for full rain.
Got rain-X wipers? I ❤ COTA! Put this circuit back on the schedule next year NASCAR!!! It was good to hear Bill Elliott spotting for his son Chase as one of the 3 spotters. If Chase keeps this up, he may get to Jeff Gordon's road course record. 9 is the record, 10 would break it. Next stop, 600 grueling miles at Charlotte, NASCAR's longest race! 🏁

Those windshield wipers sucked.
Almirola was pretty funny
Wipers and lights DO NOT make it easier to see in a torrential downpour.. Don't believe me? Get 42 of your friends and drive around town during rush hour in a downpour, and:
1. Exceed 100mph
2. Tailgate/draft the person in front of you.
3. Change lanes and slam on the brakes.
4. Take corners at 50+mph
5. Drive within 1ft of those around you.
6. Tell me how it all went when I get the ouija board out to talk to your spirit.
FOR a min I felt some empathy..Then I thought about it, They complain and get mad and that's all you hear on the clips EVEN WHEN IT'S DRY. Like the little boy who cried wolf..Then when it's serious no one listens...I dunno..My thoughts for today, my optinion...Don't hate me for it.
I think the visibility problem is twofold. First, they are trying to keep the windshield clear at 170 mph. It seems to me the issue is cycling he wipers faster and moving the pivot point from the center of the car to right in front of the driver. Second, NASCAR starts 38-40 cars which run in multicar packs most of the race. Other series, IMSA, Indy, F1, have fewer cars on the track and they get spread out by several seconds pretty quickly. Spray is a major problem for them too when they are overtaking but that is the exception not the norm.
To be honest, as much as I like Chase winning. NASCAR should’ve done better for track conditions. Like after each stage they dry off the track. Yeah it’ll take a while but it sure beats out having a whole chunk of the race under caution.

Should Chase Elliott's win count? Just wondering since some people don't think rain-shorten races should count as wins for drivers. Also, didn't his dad Bill win in a rain-shorten race?
They are mad because it wasn't safe. Custer hitting Truex like he did just showed how dangerous it was. But like everything in Nascar, they will make changes and hopefully it gets better.
These radioactive can be so much better I wish they were longer. Wanted to hear some Bill Elliot!!
Honestly they need a more efencent wiper and they should be fine. I mean Formula 1 has been racing in the rain for basically enternity with almost no problems. If they improve the wiper and yet the drivers still complain, it makes Nascars drivers almost look weaker than formula 1s
The only thing I like about Tuesday is radioactive
When did Nascar become this sick? I wouldve actually watched this.
Yes. Think it would be better once they get the wiper issue fixed. I was quite amazed that nascar engineers. Could not get the position of the wiper right. That had me scratching my head. Yet it give more apperception to formula one drivers that race in rain like that a lot more. They don’t have wipers
NASCAR could have done better than that.Just to dangerous. What’s next no more seatbelts because we safer barriers?
If NASCAR is going to race in the wet, they need to fix the windshield wipers and add mud flaps to the back tires.
They really need better wipers and better procedures for wet races like this. I understand racing in the wet but not in a monsoon. And this will be the last time we hear Eddie D’Hondt. Torpedoed his career after his arrest.
Well it’s raining so
I wouldn’t expect to see much either
Drizzle a little damp, sure. Rain like this? NO. It's not NASCAR and shouldn't be.
Nascar should’ve put the race on pause, it was raining too hard. Drivers couldn’t see and the audience couldn’t see, both dangerous and not fun to watch when you can’t see what’s happening
Glad Truex is okay 👌🏻
And Custer.
I live when they race in the rain. It make it for a better competition. Cause you have to get the rain tires. And know when to slow down. Love love love rainy races
Amazing I live 5 miles away and didn't have a single drop of rain.
Quite possibly the best radioactive this season 😭✊
And the last race ever it'll be for Chase Elliott's spotter who got arrested a few days ago
