I want a decent video to explain/theorize what would have happened if Rudeus followed Hitogami's advice and stayed put.

I've always seen it as, not the decision itself that's the turning point, but the consequences of that choice
Taken another way, this is a change between what S2 has been so far, and what it may become.
a transition between slice of life and ???
@@Kariudosanare you one of those who think S2 was boring huh
In my opinion it's the decision instead. TP1 it's Nanahoshi summoning and everything else, the mana disaster ecc., were all consequences. TP2 was the meeting with Orsted and Eris leaving him and the rest were all consequences of that. In TP3 he chose to go to Begaritt ignoring Hitogami advice and everything that will happen is the consequences of that. That's my take on the Turning Points
@@Darko807and stop ragging on people’s opinion
All the turning points are moments in the story that have lasting consequences. Rudy making a choice here is a turning point, the consequences happen because of it.
That contemplation of Rudy is what makes this episode feel human.
Absolutely. Far too often do anime (and other shows in general) have no sense of dread, anxiety, or contemplation over big, life-changing decisions. Too many protagonists or supporting casts have this unexplained resolve or energy that just isn't realistic. I love that Mushoku Tensei goes over conflicts in a matter of days, weeks, months, or even years, rather than in the span of one hour or less. The care the author puts into the characters is beautiful, and I'm glad it's so apparent in the anime too
100% agree… I love that there isn’t really a “correct” decision at this point either

I have to respect Rudeus's decision it can't of been an easy choice to Leave Sylphie & miss the birth of your child, but she knows how much his family means to him.
easy choice. Not even worth of thinking this over. What is 1 year bruh.
@@yhwach1it’s a year there. And a year back. Missing his child’s birth and their whole first year of life isn’t nothing
@yhwach1 any adult would understand this is no way an easy choice
@@yhwach1
The Man-God also told Rudy he would regret going. It makes sense he'd be hesitant to disregard his advice since following it thus far led him to Sylphy and cured his ED.
@@raymondyongho5757 there are multiple reasons man-god said that. i am not going to spoil. but there are reasons.
Small yet importand detail missing from anime and the video: this is the first time Rudy goes directly against Hitogami's advice. Hitogami's actual advice was "to stay and choose Linia or Pursena during mating season, so he'd be even happier then" and Rudy aknowledged that his advice always worked out well in the end, but he still chose to disobey him, which he had never done before
This was by far The Biggest Turning Point so far. What do you do, leave home to rescue the mom you've spent years looking for & miss the birth of your child. Or Stay with Sylphie & witness the birth of your child knowing your lost mother is still out there & your Father is in Danger?
I have a hard time relating to Rudy here, This is kind of a no brainer from me. Yeah, It sucks having to leave your pregnant wife and younger members of your family alone for an entire year, As well as missing your childs birth. Not going to argue that, But knowing that you could potentially save the life of your father, And mother who has been missing for what, 5 years at this point? He has the chance to reunite his entire family, Giving his sister a proper family setting to grow up with, His future child a chance to know their grandparents? Sylphie has a great support network around her, As well as a chest full of money from Rudys father. I'm sure the princess would pay for an excellent healer to oversee the birth as well.
Him not being their to support her personally for such a pivotal moment blows, But if it could save the life of his parents then that just seems like it shouldn't really even be a choice.
IMO, this turning point lasts until Rudy gets home. It is more than just the decision to go. There's a lot that happens while he's gone that is assumed to play a major role in the "sequel" to MT. When Orsted and Hitogami/Man-god throw down.
@@ericbunker6242 this is technically correct as TP4 happens when he gets back home and Top 10 anime betrayals happens
@@daandriod This was a risk either way you look at it. Rudeus has that possibility to fail his quest and then what? This was a difficult decision that could of ended horribly, this was not a no brainer. His future child had a chance to not have a father which could be worse.

Awesome summary. Your explanations are the best
This turning point is just as huge, I was kinda hoping you’d talk more about his discussion with the man god, I don’t know about everyone else but I want to here your thoughts on that conversation
This was one of the few episodes that really made me think of how tough this decision was. Yes he should go and help. However there's the fact that Hitogami said that he shouldn't. Specifically that he would regret it. Then there's the fact that his first child is going to be born. Plus his sisters. It feels right that he goes, but man it's not an easy one to make.
Don't forget nanahoshi that is completely reliant on him to try progress her research and get home. Thats 2 more years minimum she's going to be stuck in this world. And cliff needed his help too. The episode was careful to display all the people that count on him that he will be abandoning to leave.
@@AWanderingSwordsman All adding up him going is incredibly irresponsible but justified. Nanahoshi might suffice with Cliff or someone else helping her out as she only needs someone to pour mana in and she's doing all the actual hard work. She'll be better off than Cliff who needs Rudy or someone with incredible mana supply to improve his design. I'm the least concerned about Zanoba who somehow has taken the role of researcher very well. I didn't think he had the academic capabilities but he surprised me. If Man-God didn't point out he shouldn't go I'd say it was an easier choice but him saying that makes me anxious for the future. While the turning point wasn't as flashy as I'd hoped it was definitely a huge decision and change in the story.
@@icebox1954 this turning point marks the start of another adventure which are the best parts in this series
I'm always looking for your videos after watching the episode of the anime.
The part I was hoping was elaborated a bit more “just from Rudy’s perspective, and maybe him thinking about it” was the whole mating season thing with pursena. This is the first time he will be directly opposing the man god so would be cool to see an alternate reality.

One thing that stood out to me was the letter never said "Rudy only you can help us, we need you" it just said its difficult and to send help. Dude has made so many friends that he could've sent there if he was patient. I would've have waited for Baldigodi to return and then sent him.
great video
Elfs getting preggo is hard but Rudy was harder
Loved the video, random question, can you post the name of the soundtrack you used? :) just curious
I don't envy the studio whose job it is to fit in all of this detail in a 24 minute episode, and get hate for doing their job by cutting certain parts out.
Ive not read the books, but I've been saying that the last 15 episodes have felt like a calm before a storm, a moment of peace before war breaks out.
I still think its a huge deal.
He does not know what will happen. He does not know if his parents will die or Zenith will be rescued by the time he arrives.
And in the meantime, he could miss one or two years with Sylphie while pregnant. Aisha is incredibly reliable but having the father raise the child is a much better option. Also raising a child is very important experience, especially even if he is super strong, he knows that he could die. This isekai is not, "So OP he one punch everything", this is why I like this series. Rudy is freaking OP but even then he could die, or be left disabled for the rest of his life. That would affect Syphie and his future child forever.
Although I am glad he chose to save Zenith. Not because of cool epic action, but because Zenith is his mother, a person that gave so much love and care for. Whatever choice he will surely regret it, but I think he would have regretted it even more if he found out Paul and Zenith died because he did not go.
So for me, this is still as dramatic and important as the other two turning points.
I am very much looking forward to the zenith rescue arc

im confused why couldine rudy use a summoning sign to teleport like how nanahpshi said she did with orsted ? He couldive asked her, but I might of forgot something
He did
Reminder in previous episodes Nanahoshi was pretty tight lipped about stuff like that and claimed she didn't even remember where they were.
@Midnight-wh2bs dude then she gave rudy the location of teleporters
@@Reaper1561 Yes, but keep in mind this video and comment came BEFORE the most recent episode where this happened. So I was explaining from the perspective of before the episode came out. Also that doesn't contradict anything I said, Nanahoshi volunteered that information of her own accord with no prompting from Rudy, as Rudy only came to tell her he was leaving and didn't ask about teleportation. Prior to that as far as Rudy would know she either genuinely did forget or wasn't able to tell him about them, either way he had no reason to believe she'd tell him.
I haven’t read the manga/ LN but as a new mom HOLY SHIT is that bawlsy! So many things could go wrong while he is gone; there’s miscarriage, stillbirth, pregnancy complications… let alone a complicated birth… it’s hard to say how advanced medicine is in this world and whether her life will be at risk. And to do it all without him… man there would be SO MUCH resentment.
To be fair, even without modern medicine they do have magic, and they are right next door and special students attending a major magic university, while also being close confidants to and the direct employee of royalty. So pregnancy complications shouldn't be much of a risk for Sylphy since she should have access to the best possible medical care that anyone could possibly receive short of being royalty in the capital.
Can someone explain to me why traveling is so slow in this world? I mean there are so much magic techniques, magical devices and magical beats there... Why can't Rudeus just conjure earth magic to push him forwards at a high speed or build some sort of paragliding vehicle and power it with wind magic? Rudeus has practically infinite Mana, so why tf does he walk? (or take the ox-cart?)
Literally because it uses mana. Do you really want to exhaust your mana doing these trivial things and not having enough when you want to fight. And it's not like mana ks recovered very quickly either. I can't remember but wasn't there a spell that almost used all of rudy's mana so he definitely doesn't have infinite.
Dude, no matter how competent you're at magic it's still going from one continent to another. Just imagine you're on America and on a journey to Saudi Arabia on land
1) It's really fuckin' big, you need to actually look up how large the world is seriously.
2) Using mana for transportation instead of saving it for combat is a death sentence in alot of the world.
3) Rudeus has ALOT of mana, not practically infinite. This is show by how he can only do a few summoning circles in a day due to how much mana they take.
Plus the only one in the world that's human with an inaexhaustible mana so far is rudy

The gravity of each Turning point is equal.
Each one is well deserved of the title, I hope the animate the entirety of the story.
The thing is, staying here and _being the husband and father his wife and child need_ are also things only Rudy could do. The "luxury" to choose is also the _responsibility_ to choose which responsibility he was giving up.
And... he owes his wife and child him being there for them. Yes, his mother is important. Yes, filial loyalty is righteous. But paternal and romantic loyalty are moreso.
Leaving is a mistake.

14:12 I guess I'm surprised that Rudeus wouldn't object more strongly to Elinalise breaking up with Cliff, at least so suddenly. I mean, Rudeus of all people knows what that could do to someone, and surely he's talked about that with Elinalise at some point since they joined up. For Rudeus to essentially allow Elinalise to do to Cliff exactly what Eris (as far as he understands) did to him seems a bit odd.
5,000 likes and 0 dislikes is nuts. grats
It's really such an insanely difficult choice. Like, if he goes, he is completely screwing over nanahoshi and cliff who are reliant on him for their research and future. Nanahoshi having to wait 2 more years before resuming her research (assuming he survives) is huge. Missing the birth of your child is also a big deal. On top of that, it's going to be at least a year difference between the letter being sent and him arriving if not 2. How much trouble could really last that long? But then Geese had to also know that when he sent the letter so perhaps it is the kind of trouble that can wait for his arrival. I think they designed this choice perfectly and it really feels like there is no right answer.
Although maybe the right answer is working with nanahoshi to make a teleportation spell and just teleport to begarit and back. If that research can be done in less than a year, it's a time save.
To be fair, it's really Cliff that suffers more than Nanahoshi. I don't really think Nanahoshi is nearly as reliant on Rudy anymore now that she has some relationship with other people. Sure Rudy is the most convenient due to his absurd amount of mana, but Nanahoshi only needs mana not any actual talent, so there is no reason why she couldn't ask for help from the rest of the group to supply the necessary mana for her experiments while Rudy is away.
Cliff is the one who actually needs the massive mana pool of Rudy specifically since his magic items have a constant mana drain that only Rudy could keep up with without exhausting himself.
I honestly wasn't surprised by anything in this episode, but I still enjoyed very much all the same. Every big development in this episode was hinted at either in the trailers or the opening. It was still a fun episode and is definitely a turning point in the story, but it wasn't as much of a shock as the previous two turning points.
I spent the whole episode thinking "Why didn't he ask Badigadi?" - good to know there's a reason (he's disappeared)
I hope the animators enjoyed their break
Surprised ypu didnt mention that Rudy is an Earth Saint by now.
That illustration of Rudeus crying from happiness is way more impactful than how the anime did it. Honestly that's my only gripe about the eisode but it sticks out like a sore thumb 'cause nearly everything else was perfect.

@@ericbunker6242 true, but he does pull a white haired baddie
Spirit Summoning intrigues me. I would explore that and the "Barren World"
I mean...is it possible to create a circle to summon Hitogami to the Human Realm? Is it possible to transfer a human to another realm?
If the barren world exist then is it possible to transfer to it? Would it be a world or would a human disintegrate and turn into mana?
Hitogami has too much mana to summon, IMO. He's also sealed to the Void/barren world. It is possible to summon a human from another realm. Nanahoshi. So she's sure she can transfer back, she just has to work out the parameters.
It is possible to transfer to the Void/barren world. That becomes clear down the road. Couple of different ways to do it. That Old Man Nanahoshi refers to can tell you all about it.
I can't wait when the story actually reveal what the author meant by "turning point".
There is something I don't quite get. The problem with the decision is that it would take 1 year of travel. In this world teleportation exists and Rudy knows somebody who's an expert. He knows there are existing teleports, that allow fast travel. Even if it took him months of preparation, it would still be feasible as it would save him a year of travel.
Reminder that teleportation and summoning are magics that most information about has been lost and Nanahoshi was basically recreating from the ground up. Considering Rudy is helping her with her research he also knows that her research is no where near the point of figuring out how to create a magic circle able to teleport him period, let alone precisely enough to teleport him where he needed to go. As for the already established teleportation circles, Nanahoshi already claimed she forgot where they were which makes it pretty clear that she's either telling the truth or making a lie to say she cant or wont reveal them (clearly the later case considering the recent episode has her refusing to give any information even after giving him a map to them and the chant to use them), either way Rudy shouldn't have any reason to believe Nanahoshi would help him with that (considering it's also tied up with Orsted he'd probably be too scared to try to ask anyways).
WHERES MY EPISODE I NEED IT
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
My man can't catch a break
Spoilers ahead so read at your own discretion: It wasn't the fact that Rudeus left Slyphie that made this significant. The reason it was a turning point was that it's the first time he disobeyed Hitogami (Man-God). Until this point he was dancing to his tune... this is the first time Rudy pivoted away from his plans. That's all I'll say on that for now lol.
I still would like to know why the Man-God wanted him to hook up with the beast girls.
@gilliardmarrow1312 he was telling Rudy something that might entice him to stay. He's still a big old horn dog afterall. His main objective was (massive spoiler incoming)..................................... to prevent Rudy from reuniting with Roxy. Cause their union results in a child that is super bad for Hitogami.
At 7:35, when did zanoba strangle ginger?
This episode brought up one plot hole i never understood when reading the LNs but why did Geese write that letter? Knowing what we know about certain plot threads, it contradicts later events that Geese is the one who initiated Rudy's travel to save Zenith.
I mean yeah ? If hitogami commanded and told geese not to write the letter then hitogami basically had saved himself. Maybe he was thinking that rudues really would follow his orders to iron will like how others had done or maybe he could not come up with a good excuse fro geese. Like seeing hitogami one day just suddenly bow his head and stop rudues from comming here ? Would feel more odd then hitogami telling geese to kill rudy. Atleast in the kill rudy part geese could understand a straight motive ( nevermind I make no sense ) maybe the author just didn't planned geese to be such a plot twist to the story while he wrote this turning point but you are right.

Turning point delayed will be worth the wait
I CANT WAIT FOR BEST 2 CHAPTERS IN HISTORY, TURNING POINT 4 AND THE NEXT ONE.
Nanahoshi's 6 stage plan... shows 5 stages. Stage 6 is PROFIT of course.
8/10 episode
With how strong Rudy is, I'm still kinda surprise it would take him a yr to travel like I'm surprised he hasn't tried using wind magic in a way to help accelerate his travel like I could see him get there in atleast half the time in 6 months.
Also, what do they do when they wait for a response?
Like they failed to save Zenith, it takes 6 months to receive a letter and then an extra year of travel. I'm just confused how Zinnith can live that long unless she's in like suspended animation and what does the failed party does for the remaining yr and a half to get help?
Wind magic might have work. You could put wind magic on the bottom of a material that can carry two people and then use it to fly. Once your mana is out, you take some rest and do this a couple more times but the anime did not do it. But the time for travel is cut down in the recent episode, watch it to learn. About zenith , just see the intro. You can see zenith trapped in an blue crystal which should give you some sort of idea. I am not gonna spoil you much
@Alex_Yt2.. well carrying another person would be more tricky but with him I would imagine just basically now the direction of his destination is and just blast off in that direction while making sure u have some mana in reserve for the landing and while he's recovering mana he could be walking or taking a carriage so he can restore and gain distance at the sametime or time it to where his check point with be at a town. And of course, it depends on the weather, and maybe some stops may be too risky to wonder with low mana, but still, I could imagine he would save himself months of travel and some funds for transportation.
But that's just if he's by himself. I'm not sure how practical it is with others since he would likely have to expand more mana and may not be able to carry as much ground
@@Rikoyasha15 maybe wind won't be able to carry weight of a person ? Like we know that mushoko tensie have some physics because rudues was shouting law of inertia and stuff in his fight with north god kalman the third. Considering that wind should not have enough force to carry a person right ?
He shoulda made it written based on his recount of being whisked away by the great displacement and his travels with him throughout the demon continent
