Getting Things Done by David Allen is one of the staples of personal and professional productivity. Getting Things Done, or GTD for short has been on the top sellers' list for more than a decade (it first came out in 2001) and with good reason. David Allen has managed to create a system that you can use both at work, at school and at home - it is almost universal.
The book though is rather complex and lengthy and you can get lost in the nitty-gritty of the it all. And when you are overwhelmed, you cannot be productive.
That's why this video is so essential - in just 8 minutes, you'll be able to understands the core principles of Getting Things Done and start applying them in your life. Not to mention, the video is completely FREE, while you'll have to spend a few bucks to get your own copy of GTD.
Don't get me wrong though, the book is rather great, but you have to have the patience to go through all of it and it does get rather technical at times.
The best course of action would be the following - watch the video, learn David Allen's GTD concepts, apply them to your life and see how it goes. If you are happy with the results (as you most likely will be), head over to Amazon and get yourself a copy of the actual book.
This video will break down for you the core principles of GTD in only 5 steps - capture, process, organize, review and engage (it will make more sense once you've seen the video).
Watch the GTD summary, take action and apply it to your life and you'll see dramatic results.
Understanding Getting Things Done has never been easier - it only takes 8 minutes.
Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below. Also, make sure to let me know if there is a book you'd like me to summarise and review for you.

This video takes more than 3 minutes. I will watch it later on!
Haha
Lol
I see what you did there! :) Although, to know that you must've watched already! :)
Hope you watched it too :) Let me know if you have any questions
Not if you watch it at 2x speed.
Did a very quick summary, hope this helps!
5 steps
1. Capture
Capture action items/information so you don't need to remember it
2. Process: Is it actionable?
A. Yes? 2mins or less? Do it. Slower? List to prioritise
B. No? Keep it as a reference or discard
3. Organise: What is the next possible action?
Project (group together)
Time (calendar)
Context (groceries etc)
Non-actionable - store to revisit
4. Review: review action items and make adjustments
Weekly review of action items
Monthly review of goals - are these actions helping to achieve goals?
5. Engage - do it! Calendar will tell you what you have coming, project list will have actions that you need to do
A summary of the summary - love it :)
@@SuccessfulByDesign Yes that's a text summary, from next onwards try to put text summary also, so that neednot to watch entire video again. Its a request. Thanks in advance.
Thanks a lot for the summary
Most definitely. Thank you.
should we make a summary of the summary's summary?
“Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.”
Clear and concise review... Keep it up...
Thank you! The next book review is going to be out shortly.
He said "brain". Common error I think.
@@SuccessfulByDesign out of curiosity, why did you stop?
I've been seeing a lot of talk about GTD as I explore productivity systems that work well for my neurodivergent brain. This video was so, so helpful! The visuals are what I really need to understand concepts and connections and I really enjoyed this.
Thanks so much!
This is an amazing video. I have read all of David Allen’s books, am a GTD devotee, and have never seen the good ideas distilled so well.
Thank for the awesome feedback!
Just started doing the GTD system and this explained it really well
Cool, glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck with GTD and keep me posted on the progress and if you have any questions.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to focus at work try Vaxicorn Instant Focusing Guide(just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
Great Video! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Sanailey Inconceivable System (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for getting the success you deserve using this proven betting system minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor at very last got great results with it.
Loved the ...."your kid sets the spanish closed caption on your tv" for storage of future information example.
Thanks :)
Well done! I always love watching animated summaries of concepts. They are very helpful.
Currently reading this book, and this is a great summary, thank you!

I'm about to finish the book, and midway through I just started reading with the intention of reading it another time later just because I've gotten so overwhelmed with the info. Like you said, this video helped tremendously
Appreciate your straightforward and meaningful explanation, and how the animation effectively improves understanding. Nicely done. 🎯
The Summary is spot on! This is a wonderful channel that deserves a lot more subscribers! Keep up the great work

Great summary! I think books and concepts like these that are highly actionable are life changers!
Incredible video. Reading the book now, and watched this to solidify the concepts. Thanks!
LOVE THIS ♥️ So good and some added humour in their too so bound to remember the steps too.
Thank you for making videos like these. You have no idea how much it helps audio-visual learners like me. Reviewing books and summarizing it into videos help IMMENSELY. I absolutely have no patience to read books for leisure anymore ever since I entered college. I have so much self-help books I haven't read yet because I'm too tired or can't focus anymore, so your videos are god-sent.
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the awesome feedabck! I make these summaries for exactly that reason + it helps be understand the books I read better as I need to make sense of them before I can "teach" them to others.
brilliantly described - probably the best I've seen on gtd and not too long. Many thanks

Great Video!
I really enjoyed the content in this video. I will need to read the book as well
Do you use some online tools to manage your tasks or calendar and journal only? For example I use Basecamp a lot because I have to manage number of projects with separate teams and without management system in place I would get overwhelmed.
Thanks for the feedback!
I use Asana, Wunderlist and Google Calendar. It works out pretty well for me. Basecamp was something I tried in the past, but it wasn't a great fit for me.
This was a really good video. Subscribed!

Hi Kosio, this is - im my view - an amazingly great video about an amazingly great book - thank you very much for taking the effort - no easier way to explain what GTD is about and how it workes in a nutshell! Did you by any means also compose a poster in the style of your video, would be a great anchor to be printed and stuck on the wall in the office :-). Anyways, congratulations and thanks one more time!!
Much appreciated!
great video, hope to see you again soon.
Thanks for watching!
Anyone else call Mike after watching this video?
