Kuro needs better translators because the wording issue has happened multiple times 😭 Anyway good vid, finally decided to farm lingering tunes for xiangli yao
100%, its not a huge deal for echoes or echo sets so I think its fine but for gacha weapons and characters, thats just asking for people to get mad so they really should get a grip on this before it happens to something important. However, given Voids been in the game since 1.0, this should have been addressed by now.
@@unsoughtspace Frankly, I think they just just buff it and make it so 2 skills or 2 heavies stack instead. We already have sets like the Molten Rift, which gives the full 30% DMG bonus with a single resonance skill.... There is no reason to make the Thunder set more complicated than any other DPS set.
Tldr: Void Thunder set may seem stronger but getting the buffs are slower, giving it bigger numbers on display but actually does less DPS in the longer run. Lingering Tunes set gets the buffs quickly and allows Damaging Outros to nuke.
According to PrydwenGG calculations (using Calcharo as a base to compare to), Lingering Tunes does 101.55% damage (at max 6 seconds ramp time) while Void Thunder is the baseline 100%. Lingering Tunes is at 94.92% when at 0 stacks which in my opinion, is negligible considering the fact that since Xiangli Yao is a main DPS, staying on field for even 6 seconds is not going to be hard. Void Thunder will also be a problem when having to do a heavy attack before you start your liberation rotation decreasing your damage percentage to somewhere between 97% and 98% if you do not do so (speculating). He also won't even require swapping out of Mech Abominations echo animation, because it literally has none thus lessening the effect of the time mechanic. This has essentially convinced me enough to actually build a Lingering Tunes set for him.
Yeah I'm gravitating towards Lingering Tunes myself, its a real shame Mech has a cast animation though, otherwise I would be putting him on Lingering Tunes for sure. I gotta wait and see if I get his weapon or not, then I can build a Mech to suit him and start testing to get a feel for it. However one thing I forgot to include in the video is Mech is also AoE, so in the same way Yinlins damage increases with more enemies, Mechs damage against trash waves should be slightly higher than Thundering or Tempest. I don't tend to listen to calculations unless there's a huge difference. I don't know how Prydwen calculates their damage thresholds but I always work off dps and duration of the fight which for ToA, thats 2 minutes. If Xiangli Yao on Lingering Tunes in a full team built around him can do more damage in 2 minutes than in the exact same team but on Void Thunder, Lingering is better. However Prydwen are always good to go by as a guide.
that stubborn af site can't even give a reason for why Void set is placed higher despite less DMG, what a joke Also says his 3cost echoes are Electro+ATK depsite it has lower DMG
Mech abomination is lowkey a goated 4c echo. The main problem with Mech is that no character in the game was able to make use of the set itself, but the echo itself provides good energy, ZERO casting time as well as good AOE damage. Its an echo that feels good to use because you dont even have to use it he does all the work for you lol.
If it wasn't so absolutely ridicoulus expensive and painful to raise a completely new set (to a comparable level to your main sets), I would consider it. Worth considering ONLY if you have no electro set build anyway (new player?), but lingering tunes despite all it's benefits does not support quickswap teams, which is basically almost every team atm. Always be careful with spreadsheets vs. gameplay in reality.
Totally agree, I don't like to make my decisions off spreadsheets unless there's a huge difference. Usability, dps and the total amount of time it takes to get all of your characters damage out is a lot more important in my view. The one thing the math geeks are good for is giving you a ballpark of what to expect, its there as a guide not a law we need to follow. I think a lot of people get that confused. I'm not planning to quick swap though so that isn't a factor for me.
Definitely right, good understandable explanations and very nice ideas. But the problem with the change Thundering Memphis to a Summen after dodging would be that it will be very brocken and makes you always want to dodge as fast as possible out of it to deal more damage.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. In regards to the Thundering Mephis change, I would only want it to proc from a "perfect dodge". You’re absolutely right it would be too good if it happened from any dodge but a perfect dodge requires you to have dodged an attack. In my opinion I think thats a good requirement since it will reward a skillful action and even if you prepped for an attack by starting Thunderings attack chain just so you could perfect dodge out of it, I don't think it would be that bad. But this is just my opinion and if Kuro ever wants to fix it, they'll do it their own way.
I built Lingering Tunes for Rover since I didn't want to bother switching echoes each time I switch element. I was surprised with just how hard Mech Abomination hit while playing Spectro Rover. It helps tremendously in AoE scenarios or while overworld farming. I also just had a silly thought. If you're doing a 2-piece 2-piece on a support or healer character with low damage (maybe Baizhi?) you could run Mech Abomination as your 5th echo and run electro dmg% 3 pieces. It's probably a terrible idea since you're giving up the turtle bell, but it would be funny and potentially worth doing if you have great electro dmg% echoes but nothing for a new character yet.
Thats an interesting idea, I don't think it would work too well unless the support provides buffs based on their own attack and like you said your giving up bell. I'd stick with bell for the simple fact that ToA incentivizes you to tank hits instead of dodging them to do more damage so bell has a lot of value to the team. Would be cool to try make a healer into a sup dps though, thats what I'm gonna try do with Shorekeeper when she comes out, dunno if she will be strong enough to solo the Holograms but Imma try.
I have been running 5 piece molten Changli and 5 piece lingering tunes Chixia since pulling for Changli. Chixia's outro dmg with the lingering set is pretty nuts. Best part of this is that I can just roll for electro 3 costs as my 1 costs and 4 cost are already built and I'll never run my Chixia in a team with Xiangli, so it's an easy share. I have wasted so many resources on Havoc and Electro echoes, but maybe that was just RNJesus telling me to follow the teachings of Lingering Tunes. I'm also done huffing the copium that we'll get a rework for thundering mephis. So easy pick for me
mech abo and lingering tune are made for dual dps to spam outro (that do dmg), mech abo dps value on bosses is kinda meh but when you throw in more mobs it starts to shine, if anyone ever play pso2 and know about Techer class, it works similar to that
Actually if you combined your two points into one on how to improve Thundering Mephis that would be the perfect solution. I wish that instead of transforming into Thundering Mephis we could just summon him like other echoes and have the echo do all the attacks. That means we get the buffs w/o getting damaged or interrupted while we can take absolute advantage of Mephis' high damage numbers
The thing is although all the elemental sets give the exact same amount of buffs, but each one needs a specific way to trigger them. Whitch just feels completely arbitrary, especially when you need to get out of your way to trigger the passive, interrupting the natural flow of the character's rotation and limiting the gameplay of the new ones. It would be exelent for me if they just change all of them to just give the standard +30% if you complete the 5 pieces. I think we need variety on the active Echoes, not cluncky ways to trigger the set buffs.
I wouldn't mind that change especially the variety in Echoes but I don't mind the condition to proc the 5 piece either. However they should feel equal in how to proc them. Some sets like Molten Rift proc from a single skill use, like wtf thats so easy no matter what character you're using.
@@unsoughtspace I would already love if we could just press skill and proc all these sets. I only say the buff could be just free just in case they want to release a dps that wants to use the skill later in the rotation or something like that. I often see people saying that they want different sets with different effects. And I'm scared of the amount of new enemies we'll have to farm for this XD. So, at least for now, i think we should just get better/cooler active Echoes. Inferno Rider and the Mephis ones, for example, are kinda sad.
There is one advantage for Xiangli Yao to run Lingering Tunes over Void Thunder: its full set offer +60% damage to outro skills. Xiangli Yao, same as Calcharo, deals huge amount of damage with outro skills. Void Thunder requires two attacks of different types to fully activate, because it was designed for the Electro attackers released at the same time: Calcharo's ideal rotation is Resonance Skill x3 = 1 stack > heavy attack = 2 stacks + buffs > Resonance Liberation and enhanced basic attacks In Yuanwu's case, right after released Resonance Liberation and detonated the wedge, cast Resonance Skill = 1 stack + new wedge > heavy attack for 2 stacks + buffs + knock enemies into air > Lightning Infused basic attacks For Yinlin, the most efficient way to build up Forte Circuit energy is Resonance Skill followed by 2-3 heavy attacks. It is undeniable the Cost 4 Electro echoes are the worst among all Cost 4, especially Thundering Mephis. Even with a fixed targeting system, it still takes too long for 6 hits. Since newly released Cost 4 echoes are always designed to work with the kit of the main new character like Jue is for Jinhsi, only when there is a new 5 star Electro DPS which also happens to be the main character of that patch, there will be a chance the problems in Void Thunder can be fixed. Which sadly will not be very soon.
Void Thunder and Lingering are kinda the same, u don't need to consider 'bout which set. Just use the set that has best sub stat roll and the set that makes u feel like it most.
void thunder echo is a pain seriously. I have 2 set tunes for chalcaro and yinlin and it nukes hard, granted the buff is a bit lower but the overal dps is better
I ended up sticking with Mech for Xiangli Yao and I do not regret it one bit. I don't dislike the Void Thunder echoes but Mech just flows too well to give up.
I hope they add an option to proc your own intro/outro skill when solo. Since the game incentivizes solo play in certain modes, it would be a fair change.
@@barãosamedii what are you talking about? Ofc it makes sense for Jiyan to be able to access half of his passive abilities, especially sequences, in the Illusive Realm. Everyone else can...
Im forcing him into a changli and taoqi team so heavy attack buff from tempest will do just fine which synergizes with the 5/5 buff But ill keep this set in my mind too if i dont like it, many thanks
while i could build a new set, i'd rather save my materials for new characters that i dont have a set for, and transfer the void thunder set from calcharo instead
I agree build void thunder, with everybody and his mom building xiangli yao next week and how responsive kuro is, is 100% thunder set will be fixed within a month.
The real question is when his banner is finally coming... the way their announcement yesterday was worded, it seemed like his banner might start today and you only get him free on the 7th, but it seems like both are on the 7th...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will be on the 7th. Unless theres something I don't know, they likely wont run his banner and Zhezhi's at the same time. Can't wait though, feels like its taking ages for the 7th to get here!
You don't need to complete Tempest Mephis' second attack. The tail slam calls down more bolts if you don't cancel it with the claw swipe, so just swap cancel it and don't mind losing out on the 12% electro damage bonus. Also Flautist is a very good alternative for both 4 costs.
I agree with Flautist, Its a great 3 cost echo even if the total cast time is a bit longer than I'd like but I don't understand your Tempest idea, I get the 3 extra lightning strikes if I do the claw attack or not. I often use them to parry some attacks like monkeys grab when I'm on Yinlin. I will admit I can't see them go off but I can hear them and the amount of damage the enemy takes is equal to the 3 bolts going off. Not doing the claw is just leaving damage and valuable bonuses on the table. Its not the best example but you can hear them in my Yinlin video: ua-cam.com/video/JVH8g0OCZQE/v-deo.html If you watch it frame by frame, you can see 5 damage numbers pop up the last one being the 3rd lightning strike after getting the 12% Electro damage buff from the claw attack.
@@unsoughtspace The point is you can treat it like a 1 part transformation echo like the monkey, while not really losing out on damage. You can more than make up for the lost damage from the claw attack and the buffs by filling the animation with another character's attack.
@@philipblaskowski5244 Ah fair enough, I thought you were implying the bolts don't hit if you use the claw. I would have thought you'd be better of canceling the claw swipe though.
Honestly the best way to fix that echo is simple. Upon pressing the echo skill he comes out do his final strike give you the buff and go away. Heck. Treat the echo like a summon where your character doesn't even Change into him. All problems solved.
dps check, Void Thunder. Even thou I know it sucks welp I already farmed it. It kinda will chance your rotation abit. Well I have patience and Shorekeeper will prob resolve his issues since she heals alot.
Void Thunder will be just fine on him, like you said just adjust your rotation slightly and you really only need to do that for 1 game mode, ToA. You don't need to super sweat your normal gameplay and if you have a void thunder set already built, the value of that is 100% higher than lingering tunes because you don't have to spend more resources building up echoes. You'd be better off building up your supports for him than switching his set. So I wouldn't worry about it.
@@unsoughtspace You have a point, I don't need to worry much since ToA is just 1 instance and if I can 3 star it with or without sweat, the reward is still the same. Even if I didn't 3-star 2 floors, it only gives 100 astrites which is not worth being stressed out. Thank you btw.
My void thunder set is just too good to replace, 94cr 226cd 126er. Itd be really hard to get a whole new set of tunes, so imma just stick with this til we get a weekly void echo
@@dplayer2693 You would absolutely benefit from a better crit ratio, you want to aim for 1:2 (after you minus 100cd) to maximize the average dps you're getting from your stats but what you currently have should be enough. If you also have his weapon, my Xiangli Yao is similar to yours with slightly more crit damage and less crit rate and he is clearing the Holograms and ToA bosses solo just fine. He is on Lingering Tunes though.
@@anhtiepvien-crewslife6288 been trying to get a good crit dmg 4 cost for 2 weeks, its been terrible, in the last 2 days ive leveled 10crit dmg pieces but they all came out terrible, i guess ill be stuck with crit rate til the gods of rng actually favor me.
G'day mate! Honestly I don't know sorry, but I would imagine if you had his signature weapon, then Void Thunder might benefit from Atk% + Electro to balance you stats better. Lingering Tunes should provide more than enough Atk from the 2 and 5 piece set bonuses and Mech giving +12% Atk for 15s so double Electro should be a better choice. But this would also likely be affected by the team you want to run with him and whether they provide an Atk boost, Electro damage bonus or both. However I'm not a math guy so you would probably get a more accurate answer from a calculator if there's one out there.
@@unsoughtspace Cheers, mate! I have no Yinlin, so I might play him with (beside Verina) Yuanwu, Sanhua, or even S1 Jianxin. I'll see which rotation I prefer. I know a math WuWa CC with cute chibi pink haired VTuber model so I might go to her if my Yao is underperformed, but I'll let the dust settle first after everyone had a week on Yao. owo I do plan to have a Lingering Set on the go for future characters, but I'm not always into farming Echoes because I get distracted in-game easily. Those darn drop bears keep attacking me, LOL. 😉
Great guide senpai tbh i learn a lot and now i understand that i should break some stuff to get a lot of fragments imao😅 but for echos i use mostly inferno rider and thundering Memphis because of the buffs that i mostly get them!! I never use aero echos in illusive realms because idk the buffs seems trash😂😂😂
Thanks mate, I'm the same with most of the Aero metaphors (unless I'm running dreamless) since a lot of them are not really dps increases especially when you get other buffs that reset your liberation or reduce its cooldown but some of them are still really good for building up damage. Plus I love Inferno Rider, easily my favourite echo.
I understand that and if thats your thoughts, you could have some resourses saved as a buffer incase a new set come out, but I wouldn't worry to much about echo or echo set powercreep, even if something new comes out, you can just migrate older echoes onto another character who just needs something to function. Its not ideal but they will never become completley useless.
I already built a void thunder set for him...i could actually build a lingering tunes set But i'm building ice echo set While he isn't in the game,i'm using void thunder on Yinlin What should i do? Build a lingering tunes set for him and keep the void thunder on Yinlin Or should i keep the void thunder on him?
Thats really is a decision you need to make based off your account, if it was me, I would keep Void, if I was trying to build an Ice set I wouldn't be wasting resourses on building a different set that's going to show either a tiny or no difference in his damage output and usability. If you don't have a replacement set for Yinlin though, might be worth building a lingering tunes set for him to run them together. Don't worry about it too much though, gear doesn't really matter much outside of ToA. Even the holograms don't need optimal builds to beat.
I'm way out of my element when it comes to problems with translations so I have no idea. But I think part of the problem would be straight translation without any understanding what they are translating and how it applies to the game. I can't read chinese but I would assume all of their descriptions makes sense, so if the translator knew what something was supposed to do or how it was supposed to work from the chinese description, you would think translating what its doing into english or japanese wouldnt be a problem.
I don’t fucking care what the numbers say. The winner is 2p 2p! 4p Thunder is so bad for activation and the dmg echo is a huge dps lose. 4p Lingering is bad for quick swap that you lose the buff, but has the better main echo. 2p 2p you can pick your fifth best random echo with better stats and you have mec as the main echo
Bruh, I did not know the void thunder set works like that. You learn something new everyday. Thanks so much for the info.

I often use them to parry some attacks like monkeys grab when I'm on Yinlin. I will admit I can't see them go off but I can hear them and the amount of damage the enemy takes is equal to the 3 bolts going off. Not doing the claw is just leaving damage and valuable bonuses on the table.
Its not the best example but you can hear them in my Yinlin video:
ua-cam.com/video/JVH8g0OCZQE/v-deo.html
If you watch it frame by frame, you can see 5 damage numbers pop up the last one being the 3rd lightning strike after getting the 12% Electro damage buff from the claw attack.
As someone who use Lingering Tunes on Calcharo and it has almost perfect substats, this is an easy choice for me.
Would still get VT, I'll wait for black shores update maybe they could make a new 4c echo like Jué
My void thunder set is just too good to replace, 94cr 226cd 126er. Itd be really hard to get a whole new set of tunes, so imma just stick with this til we get a weekly void echo
It’s too much crit rate and too low on crit damge bruh, i think it should be 70/280 would be perfect
@anhtiepvien-crewslife6288 ill look into leveling a crit dmg piece for him then, and test it out.
@@dplayer2693 im sure with u it’s worth it for crit damge, i tested alr and i got shocked that how good it is.
G'day, Space! I was wondering whether to use the Electro% or ATK% for the 3 Cost Echoes.
I know a math WuWa CC with cute chibi pink haired VTuber model so I might go to her if my Yao is underperformed, but I'll let the dust settle first after everyone had a week on Yao. owo
I do plan to have a Lingering Set on the go for future characters, but I'm not always into farming Echoes because I get distracted in-game easily. Those darn drop bears keep attacking me, LOL. 😉
I still went with void set and just use lumiscale so I have extra defenses.
Why not both?
or make the thundering memphis hit really fast, increase the attack speed
Pov me who have a void thunder set on Calcharo 😅
Stats show lingering tunes with sig weapon nets more overall damage cuz of his outro
going with void thunder regardless of which is stronger since I already have a good thunder set and I dont feel like farming echoes all over again.
I’m using a 2 piece 2 piece. I don’t want to have to charge attack with lightning set and I don’t want to farm lingering tunes.
Thats fair, spend your resources wisely.
Idk what Gale and Celestial work so generically but Thunder has these weird triggering mechanics.
There seems to be lots of echo sets and actif echoes that are rife for powercreep. That makes me not wanna invest in them at all.
Lingering tunes will win by alot when u got his sig
With no sig
Either thunder or lingering works
Thundering Memphis should have reduced hits, 2 or 3 max.
Why are the intro skill buffs useless in Tower? Are you not able to use intro skills in ToA???
Did you watch the video? He said if you solo run, intro buff is useless.
I already built a void thunder set for him...i could actually build a lingering tunes set
But i'm building ice echo set
While he isn't in the game,i'm using void thunder on Yinlin
What should i do?
Build a lingering tunes set for him and keep the void thunder on Yinlin
Or should i keep the void thunder on him?
Thats really is a decision you need to make based off your account, if it was me, I would keep Void, if I was trying to build an Ice set I wouldn't be wasting resourses on building a different set that's going to show either a tiny or no difference in his damage output and usability. If you don't have a replacement set for Yinlin though, might be worth building a lingering tunes set for him to run them together. Don't worry about it too much though, gear doesn't really matter much outside of ToA. Even the holograms don't need optimal builds to beat.
@@unsoughtspace i see
For Yinlin i have moonlit clouds
So yeah, gonna keep using void thunder then
Why do you think kuro games has localisation issue?
I'm way out of my element when it comes to problems with translations so I have no idea. But I think part of the problem would be straight translation without any understanding what they are translating and how it applies to the game. I can't read chinese but I would assume all of their descriptions makes sense, so if the translator knew what something was supposed to do or how it was supposed to work from the chinese description, you would think translating what its doing into english or japanese wouldnt be a problem.
I did the whole event with literally everything you can do just to realize you only need 6000 to get him ..I have 51000..😵💫
Lmao, overshot the mark a bit.
@@unsoughtspace well I am. A perfectionist
@@Aleceyyy damn, if you have 51000, you need 2720 more to absolutely max the event
This entire time, I thought I had only 5300 something…. I’m at 53,000 something💀💀💀
Thundering Last Hit Will Miss, and Tempest Last Hit Missed.
I thought I needed 60000 and I was at 58000.
