IDK if this was added anywhere else in comments but I was trying to make multiple shirts with the same screen, the first one would come out amazing then the second one would have hardly any ink transfer to the shirt. After doing some digging online I figured out that A) the Speedball ink I used is water soluble (which makes thin layers dry fast) B) My thin layer of ink was drying and clogging up the screen holes because I waited too long between shirts around 5-10 minutes. So lesson learned have all the shirts you want to press ready to go and don't wait more than 5 min between shirts and also don't rush the shirts and forget to cover the registration marks or circle hole at the top between shirts (luckily the ink washes out but I forgot to cover the circle oops!). Thanks Jennifer for your hard work! You are my go to when I need cricut help.

I also did multiple shirts and ran into this problem even when I moved quickly! I fixed it by carefully cleaning the non-vinyl side of the screen after the 3rd or 4th use with a toothbrush and water and VERY carefully dabbing at both sides with a paper towel.

Keep a spray bottle with water handy. Spritz between shirts and cover with damp cloth to prevent premature drying. Or use plastisol ink. Plastisol is much messier, so more care is needed. But it doesn't dry and clog your screens so fast. You will need a plastisol cleaner (or acetone) to clean. But your tradeoff is longer working time between prints.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  Місяць тому +1

Yes, you can layer colors on top of each other when screen printing a t-shirt, a process often called "overprinting" where you print one color on top of another, allowing the underlying color to show through depending on the opacity of the ink used; this technique can be used to create depth and special effects in your design.

Hello Jennifer, First - another amazing tutorial!!! Can't get enough. However, I cannot seem to find the tutorial on making my own DOUBLE stencil. I can make the SINGLE but I would like to make 2 different color stencils and I don't seem to know how to align my images so that they don't overlap. I feel silly as I know this should be easily. Please help

Late to the party. This is a good instructional video. I just want to add that a heat gun greatly speeds up the time for the second layer. You don't need to cure the ink, but just hit it long enough with the heat gun to dry to the touch. You can apply the second layer in a matter of seconds.

That is really your choice. Sublimation can be very pricey.

Interesting approach to avoid coating screen with emulsion film, exposure lights and wash up.

Hi Jennifer! Can the estencil be used more than once? I want to make more than one shirt with the same stencil (only one layer).

As long as you do them at the same time it should be fine🥰

Thanks so much for the video, you definitely do make things look a lot easier. One question tho, does the easy press do the same thing that the light would do for screen printing?

Do you think we could use a cricut stencil vinyl material for this process so that we can reuse the stencil for multiple shirts?

    • @JenniferMaker

You could try it out 😊🌻

I struggled to get the stencil vinyl material to stick to the screen and ended up reprinting the design using cricut removable vinyl

Question…wanting to use images, saying like”crafting is my therapy” or “real estate is my hustle” for sell or craft shows, wood signs, pro sport logos, etc…how do I do this without copyright/trademark infringement or legal issues? Wanting to start a small business in the near future. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't believe that would be a problem unless it is copyrighted.

How many times does one of these stencils work? How many shirts can you do with each stencil in other words?

  • @roxannemayfield5122

Can the stencils be removed and reusable...or are they basically a one and done? I've been looking to try to find out if they are in fact reusable..how does one store them until next use.?

And also..side note..im attempting to do this on a yudu ..using the explorer 2 to make stencils and hopefully eliminate the burning screens part...due to supply costs and availability..this machine is hard to find anything for..so I hope I can still use the screens aspect of it..im just confused about the cricut stencils being reusable and how to store them.

This was made with permanent vinyl which is not really reusable. Here is a reusable stencil tutorial. jennifermaker.com/reusable-stencil-with-cricut/
