      My friend!! Thank you so much! I will be doing a ton in the future with this channel, and I am just so excited about all the opportunities. I have a ton of videos on the slate at the moment, and I'm particularly excited for my graduation "documentary." It should be sweet

    “If you’re nerdy, do endo. If you wanna be crazy and a psychopath, do oral surgery.” Great advice 😂 Also, I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability with sharing your GPA and keeping that bit in the video haha. Congrats on nearing the end of your dental school journey! Thank you for sharing your experiences!

      Hahaha I said all that and thought, "what are you even talking about, dude." Those obviously aren't my true thoughts about the specialties. I was being satirical. I probably should make a video though where I break down the different dental specialties. I think people would enjoy and learn from that. One thing I have really tried to do lately is to convey my true self on youtube! I'm not here to make people think I'm great. I'm actually an exceedingly average guy I just love working with a camera and want to inform the next generation of students about what they should expect in dentistry. Thank you so much for your comment and support. It genuinely means a lot to me, so thank you!

    Hello Dr. Stephen i have a question, would you recommend making anki cards in the summer to save time during the school year?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  3 місяці тому +1

      Not really! I would just enjoy the summer! Plus you won’t have all the material you will be tested on throughout the year so I honestly just see this as overworking yourself!

    Hey Dr. Stephen, I am guessing I can call you that. Would you go into dentistry for the money aspect of it? Is it a good step towards financial freedom and time freedom?

    I am curious if you will have to do a state board exam where you actually do dentistry on a live patient?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes I took a state board exam (ADEX), but it was not on a live patient. We worked on manikins for everything. More on this to come in the future!

    How many years of school to become a dentist??

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the question! 4 years of undergraduate studies to earn a bachelors degree (not strictly required but highly encouraged) and 4 years of dental school to become a DDS or DMD. Additional specialty training can take place after dental school for anywhere from 1-6 extra years depending on the specialty.

      Is oral surgery okay with them?

    How are you and your partner financing the purchase of the private practice?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  5 місяців тому +2

      Great question!! Hefty loans! I don't want to dive too deep into the finances behind the purchase especially his half to protect his privacy, but both of us have taken out loans to purchase our halves of the practice. Both us of will also be looking to re-finance when possible to lower the interest as much as possible. It is easy enough to get a practice loan, you just have to be very vigilant about paying it down every month.

    • @laughter95
      @laughter95 5 місяців тому +1

      @@stephenraydentist Thanks. Pretty amazing that you were able to find a purchase opportunity, do the due diligence and valuation, and obtain financing all while in school. I thought banks wouldn't lend without at least a couple years of work experience. Sounds like a great opportunity for you. Wonder if there are others in your class that are planning to purchase right out of school, or are most planning to be an associate at first?

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  5 місяців тому

      @@laughter95 most will be associates for a few years but there are a few that are purchasing like I am and there are two doing a start up! Banks love loaning to dentists we are some of their favorites. I had a lot of help with the planning of all this from my dad, our practice attorney, and our practice accountant. Good people go a long way.

    Hi Stephen, thanks for sharing this! Love the Q&A. Just wanna share with you that Jesus loves you! We don't have to go through a Catholic priest to connect to God, we can do so directly by praying to Him!

    • @stephenraydentist
      @stephenraydentist  4 місяці тому

      Praise the Lord! The Catholic Church doesn’t teach that we have to go through a priest to get to Jesus! That is a misconception of Catholic teaching. The Church teaches that Jesus gave a special priestly role to his twelve apostles and that they then passed down that special role to other men as is evidenced in the replacement of Judas by Matthias by the guidance of the Holy Spirit in Acts Chapter 1. God created the priestly order with Adam in Genesis and it didn’t end with Jesus. Jesus is our High Priest and He established a new order of priests in His new covenant to offer the most important sacrifice in history: The Eucharist which is the new and eternal covenant. Check out Pints with Aquinas on UA-cam to learn more! Thanks for the comment and God bless!
