    Just wanted to add that the Spectra GM 20 tank does not have the inside baffle for the return line. Also, heat shrinking with a propane torch and hammer/dolly got the area super flat for me.

    Thanks for running through this install, very helpful. Doing the same thing for my 81 Camaro efi conversion, and it makes it easier to see than only going by the instructions.

    Very informative video I did the same set up two years ago. I stitch welded my tray to the assembly instead of using that bolt if that helps anyone in their build. I'm currently building a stainless steel tank to replace my aluminum tank that I built .

      Awesome, it's good to hear it worked out for you. Thanks for sharing! Is there a specific reason you welded the tray on vs using the bolt?

    How does this connect to sending unit? I've yet to find a video that has full finished set up

      The fuel pump assembly doesn't have a float or sending unit. I ended up using an OEM sending unit that fit the tank and kinked off/sealed the fuel line coming out of it. photos.app.goo.gl/garWhps6M5Z4FFtH7

    Wich is the reason for chosing this kind of pump?My tank is not baffled,so should i consider to mount this instead those wich don't have the fuel pan? Nice video

      Yessir Tanks Inc is good stuff and that trough acts as a baffle for tanks that don't have one.

    For that bolt on the bottom just revers it. Head inside the sump threads poking out the back.
    That said, I hate this kit. My hoses were too short for my tank. I expected a lot more from the kit the way everyone talks about how good they were. I should have just made my own.
    I didn’t even get the vent fitting with my kit.

    You still working on this project or did you land up selling it? Haven't seen any updates on it on your channel since this video.

      This car was my father's car that he had all my life. He passed away a few months ago so this car will never be sold for sure. I have let other projects get in the way but I am working towards circling back around to it soon as well as picking back up with my videos. Thanks for checking in on it! It's good to know people are interested in it.

    What is the overall diameter of the top plate for the kit

    This is a great help. I'll be doing the same thing on my 78 Z28. Has the same tank, so now I know what to expect. Thanks! Are you using the factory fuel level sending unit?

    • @ChaosGarage
      @ChaosGarage  8 років тому

      Right now my plan is to use the stock gauges and the stock sending unit (assuming they work so I'll have to test that first). I'll have to modify the old supply line so it is nice and sealed up or I might just tee it off and run 2 return inlets. But yeah if I can then I plan on using the original sending unit.

      Are you going throttle body EFI or LS swap?

    • @jimmckinney6715
      @jimmckinney6715 8 років тому

      Throttle body. I still have the original 350 SBC in there. Looking at the FiTech systems. They seem to have the best bang for the buck these days.

    • @ChaosGarage
      @ChaosGarage  8 років тому

      Cool, I plan on getting the FiTech system as well for the Blueprint 383 I'm stuffing in the Firebird.

      Have you tried test fitting the tank yet? Any clearance issues? I've been reading some EFI fuel tank threads on NastyZ28 and they all seem to either have to weld a recess box into the tank or cut a hole in the trunk floor for clearance/access. I looked at the Tanks Inc. EFI tank pictures and they're inconclusive. One pic looks like they built a recess into the tank and the other doesn't show any signs of a recess. I'm hoping to get all of this figured out before I drop the tank (and $$$).

  • @denniscatlin3487

    It was just quicker and less aggravation to weld it

      +Dennis Catlin gotcha, no harm in that!

    i see 2 issues ine in that there is no holes in the filter pan to allow fuel to flow in and two the bolt hitting the body of the pump
    im getting tready to do my jeep tank my self with same system but i suck at taking video
    5/20/22 up date mine turnnd out pretty good there is a hole in the pan actually to allow fuel when the level gets low - no leaks worked good !

      at 17:20 you can see there is a bolt hole at the front of the baffle tray for fuel to fill up with gas
