Me too. Closer To Home was the second album that I got as a kid. The first one I got was America's first album. In fact, I'm going to see America this coming weekend. I hope Mark will do a tour sometime soon. Never got to see the original GFR.

I was hooked the first time I heard "Time Machine". I was on my paper route in the fall of 1969 and in the 7th grade. From one of the a houses on my route I heard this garage band cranking it out. I immediately went out and bought "On Time". The rest is history. I first saw them when Freddie King opened for them on December 10, 1972 at the Baltimore Civic Center and then again the next summer at the Omni in Atlanta when then sang of the this tour in the song "American Band". Mark Farner was the hero for me and my two best buds, Bones and Herford. GREAT MEMORIES!

Think of all the other singers his same age that Mark's pipes have outlasted--Robert Plant, Rod Stewart, Roger Daltrey, Ian Gillan, Steve Perry, Steve Walsh, Mickey Thomas. All them can barely croak now...On the female side, Ann Wilson is still going strong!

I listened to lot of GFR in that machine cranked up on my Pioneer speakers, including the song you hear now. Mark, you are welcome at my campfire anytime. I love you and the understanding of music, in 1972, '73, you, Don, and Mel (Father forgive both of them), gave me that afforded an incredible career... It has lasted a lifetime. I promise you a good, fruitful, and amazing time. I'll have a room prepared with your name on it.
I'm old too, we've met and shook hands a time or two, and you've certainly provoked my tears with this. I will love you through eternity. Father God, most holy and eternal, bless and keep you.

    What a Dude!
Lord knows that GFR was the sound of my teen years.
Always wanted to meet the Man. And I hope eventually, I shall.
Thanks for the memories Mark, MeL & Don.

GFR was the best band ever! Mark had a great voice and still does! They were Michigan boys just a hop away from where I grew up. He had the coolest long straight hair ever!! The way they rocked Shea stadium, will never be forgotten! Love you Mark!

Grand Funk was one best 3 piece bands ever, each member was a outstanding, multitalented musician, their musical talent gave GFR a huge sound.
