FULL BLOG POST for the most in-depth summation of the whole experience here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaura...
Awesome review! I can't wait to go eat there. I have followed Aaron for years now and his process. Thanks for posting!
You are welcome- hope you can try for yourself soon!
you guys kill this review. Awesomely done.
Thank you Jerry!
I love you two, and your very useful/informative videos.
Great video!! Thanks for the honest and thorough feedback. We live into San Antonio and would love to experience it at least once. Question for you....would you do it again?
Hi Aprille- thanks so much! For me personally it was a one time experience to wait in the line. I'm really glad that I had the chance to have the entire Franklin BBQ experience, but next time I'd order takeout with no problem.
Thanks guys. This was an awesome video. I’ve only visited Austin once and Franklin’s was closed due to the fire. Planning my next trip and Franklin is top of the list of thinks to do.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it- hope that you enjoy your trip. If you need more tips on going to Franklin check out our full blog post here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
Great video guys, thank you.
Great job. I need to go there just once
Thank you! For sure a great place to check out.
Thanks for the guide. Looking to head there in the next year or so. Salt Lick is another stop for sure. Cheers to food!!
we have yet to try salt lick! thanks!
Great post. This is on my bucket list. I might do the take out though. Any videos on that? How does that work?
No videos on takeout but my blog post gives more details on that: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
That “cutter” guy was on point!!! Wow!!!
He was so awesome! Definitely one of the highlights of our day!
Carver
new subbie here. OMG!, this looks incredible. can't wait for more vlogs.
thank you!
Totally worth it. We got there around the same time on a Saturday. The beef rib was the best thing there. My gf and I destroyed the beef rib and loved the brisket. I’m not a huge fan of pork, but the pork ribs were ridiculous. Would definitely recommend it at least once. Great video.
Thank you so much Gregory! That beef rib changed my life! Glad that you liked it too.
Great video!!
Helpful vid. Thanks!
you're welcome!
Food looks awesome great job guys🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
thank you!
First great review! There are so many great BBQ places around the state and Arron Franklin has done a great job of promoting his Q, and his brand!
Thanks so much! I agree- Aaron does an amazing job.
@@Femalefoodie how much it cost all that food ? It looks amaizing !!!
Good job on the video I have family in Austin maybe I should go swing by and head over to Franklin
Killing it you guys!!! Ignore the hate. Love your blog!!
Thank you so so much!!! I appreciate it a ton!
9:12 made the video for me other than the solo shots of Brook
I own a catering business (comfort food themed, mostly) outside of Denver, CO. I am big on great tasting sides because, to me, they are the best items as comfort food. In your opinion, what was missing from Franklin's sides?
Great Video Thank You 😇
thank you!
Cool! I wanna try.
Very cool. When I finally make it to Austin for an F1 race, I'll have to get up early for some BBQ.
Fuckitol, I get it, I live in Charleston SC and constantly wish that all the tourist would just go home.
My anxiety got worse with anticipation 😂 .good vid
Thank you so much!
"I like Barbeque sauce, but this didn't need it". LOL, Aaron will like this; he says the same thing.
I would agree, Heim Barbecue in Downtown Fort Worth is the same way, bbq so fantastic it doesn't need sauce. Their bacon burnt ends are also legendary.
When I went to Austin some locals told me to skip the wait and go to LA BBQ and head to Lockhart. So that's what I did. I hit Smitty's, Kruez, and Blacks in Lockhart, and hit LA BBQ. I thought Black's was probably the best. Now that you have been residents for a bit have you hit those spots? And how do they compare?
Lockhart is FOR SURE a bbq mecca. Glad to hear that you made it there! I personally haven't had bbq in lockhart but we don't live in Austin anymore. On our next trip down we'll have to check it out (esp black's!) .Thanks!
Brookie! Great job on this video! SUPER fun to watch and interesting!
Thank you Whit!!! Coming from you that's a HUGE compliment! You and Brett should come visit us so we can wait all morning together for barbecue. :)
Brisket and Beef Ribs!!!
SO GOOD!!! Thanks for watching :)
great video, i really want to go, i live in FL, now i know i need to get there at 5am lol
Thanks so much Jose! Haha yes the earlier the better!
I guess we got lucky! We went this month on the 5th. We got there at 12:30. We waited a little over an hour in line and then ate. The food was awesome. I didn't think the sausage was anything special, but everything else was on point!
I'm glad you didn't have to wait too long!! That is amazing that you only stood in line . for an hour! Also what a great time of year to be in Austin!
This definitely helped!!! Y’all should visit Miller’s Smokehouse in Belton, Tx! Can’t wait to visit Franklins!
Thanks so much Edgar! I would love to visit Miller's someday! Let me know what you think about Franklin BBQ when you make it out there!
as great as this video is, its even better with Closed Caption turned on. Some people bring Lawn chairs, but with CC on, some people bring Launchers!!! That's how you clear out a line
Haha that is too funny- definitely said lawn charis. Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video, ignore the hate comments, there are so many negative people out there
Your comment made my day- I appreciate it and thank you!
How is this channel is not famous ?
How much is all total was it? and now how much? thanks
Best BBQ sides: Cole Slaw, Corn Casserole, Pickles, Mac & Cheese...
Whose best, Franklin's?
Thanks guys. PEA con pie? Not from around here are ya? Welcome. :)
You've done something I've never done. I've lived in North Austin for 8 years and never been to Franklin BBQ
been in Austin all my life and haven’t gone 😂
I just visited Franklin two weeks ago. Left ft. Worth about 930 got to Franklin at about noon. Waited in line for about two hours and finally ate at about 220. The experience was cool but best advice is to preorder. The food is excellent no doubt but just preorder and save yourself some time. You're welcome!
Yep! We talk about this at the end of the video and in our blog post- for some it will be worth it to have the whole experience and for others takeout will suffice. Thanks for watching!
You really need to go to lockhart texas to taste the best barbecue hands down
I have heard great things about the BBQ in lockhart, particularly blacks!
Daaamn...if im a toursit I want to try it but dont know how I'll make it through that
Haha if you love bbq it's worth it!! If you're indifferent just get the takeout
Did not use barbeque sauce other wise they do but not at Franklin's
So cool- nice
If I ever get to go Texas again, I want to arrive in TX a day early just so i get decent sleep
She has no makeup but is beautiful
what info can you provide on the background music in this video?
I bought it on a site a while ago- sorry that I don't have the info!
Seems like prices posted are high. I can put together a whole meal for four at the price of two sandwiches. I'm sure the food is great, though.
It's definitely not a cheap meal, but in my opinion worth it!
Hello! Great Video! Congratulations!
I wish you much success!
Good evening! Good week! Hugs . . #dgtudo
Thank you so much!
If you guys still live in Austin y’all should take a little road trip to Houston and try Corkscrew barbecue in old town Spring it is the best barbecue I have had in my life the sides for me at least are really good I do not think you guys will be disappointed I still need to try Franklin’s
Aaron is famous.
Did they try any of the burnt ends?
His prices were high enough in 2018, but now in 2021 he charges $34/lb for brisket.
Insane
Austin is a sweet city, but how does it take you a year to do this? Spent 5 days there & knocked it over.
Haha I was dreading the lines to be honest!
some day i will get there
It took you 8 months to go to Franklins BBQ? Really? I would have gone before I unpacked!
Just buy a smoker and take your time.
i've said it before....beef ribs are juicier and beefier than brisket and overall they taste better.
They're absolutely delicious!
How much was this tray in cost?
I agree. Franklin's sides blow. I make better pork ribs than him too. But his brisket is the best I've ever had hands down. The pulled pork is also a 9.5/10. I wish he'd put more effort into his sides. Also you don't have to wait in the line. You can order it online and pick it up in a week or so.
Yes! I mentioned that toward the end about the pickup, but agreed wish they'd put a little more effort into the sides.
Won't the meat be tough, cold, and rotting by then???
LadyCroMag BuntCitch it’s like wine, bro.
I own a catering business (comfort food themed, mostly) outside of Denver, CO. I am big on great tasting sides because, to me, they are the best items as comfort food. What was missing from Franklin's sides, in your opinion?
Since it's such a popular restaurant, why don't the owners open up like 2 or 3 more Franklin BBQ restaurants?
I'm sure that the concern would be no being able maintain the quality. Aaron Franklin does own another restaurant in town (Loro- incredible BBQ/Asian Fusion food) and word on the street is that he's in the process of creating a breakfast taco stand/restaurant.
Having read his book the biggest issue is that the restrunt is at supply capacity. He may be able to open a second site but he says he has trouble already getting the meat and wood.
There is no way I could wait in that line lol 😲😲
Haha it was a very long line!
Heaven doesn’t get any closer to Earth than Franklins does!
Chicks pretty hot in that subtle way. Nice review vid of Franklin BBQ. Thank you!
Dude, shutup.
Don't you wish you could junior!! Keyboard bada$$ you are NOT!...lol
Interceptor2500 What does that even mean? Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
Means, you're punk and troll that talks crap online and likely would think otherwise in person. If you're smart. But hey, whatever floats your boat Junior.
Haha. You're fun!
That’s 🥜. Would like to try it some day tho.
What was the total price?
Full itemized receipt on this blog post: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
Oh my gord first things first dont eat franklin but do indeed eat his barbeque
I think if you ever get a chance to come down or up to Canada, leave your husband guy and run off into the sunset and check out the local McDonald's I'll be here ;)
BBQ RULES
Great review and content. Was there enough seating once people got their food? It looked like there's an upstairs area.
And from Texas, please don't say pee-can. It's pe-cahn 🤓
Hahaha so many opinions about the pronunciation of pecan. I am from Utah so you'll have to excuse my non-southern pronunciation. There actually was a ton of seating! I talk more about that here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
What a platter of bbq meat ! Omg. Mmmm.
How much was it for a pound of each of those meats on the platter? Just curious. Not that it matters.
Taking left overs home must of been bomb the next day!
I have a detailed blog post with every single menu itemized here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
Great video! Probably the most delicious thumbnail on all of UA-cam. It would be great to see you try out some other Barbecue spots in the state as well.
So, you'd probably be better represented if you change your channel name. It's a good thing that there are many, many female food bloggers, vloggers, journalists, etc... "Female Foodie" can come off as saying that's it's rare and shocking for a woman to review food, when in fact there are many amazing food-centric personalities. Maybe something more related to your personality would be a better name... Just my opinion. Either way, thank you for the cool video, looking forward to more.
Thanks for the comment and really appreciate the suggestions!
How much did all that cost
$131.24. I have itemized everything that we purchased in my blog post: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
Have you guys done Salt Lick yet? You review would be nice to see..
Haven' done Salt Lick! To be honest, we heard that it was overhyped, but a classic Austin experience nonetheless! We will have to check it out soon!
Female Foodie Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to your review.
You missed the part where they give out a sign to a person in line that says they are out of food. Seems like a pretty un-biased review tho, thanks.
We definitely did! Thank heavens! Thanks so much for watching
Cutter has above average knife skills.
Agreed!
That dude is over it lol
What's the deal with normal white bread, like so many better options Texas.
Just traditional bbq!
shiza! (i meant that in a good way)
how much you spend
I have shared the prices for everything itemized here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
Looks good. But i'd rather cook my own brisket than wait in that ridiculous line.
Anyone who says it is best in Texas is not eating a lot of good bbq. There is no such animal as best in Texas. There are a bunch of damn good bbq places where there is less than a ten minute wait.
suchdoge yes, I can get prime brisket at Costco for 2.99 lb and eat all week for less than 2 meals at Franklins
BBQ here in California is really good, but it's so damn expensive. The meat is cheap, a brisket is like 50 bucks, and it feeds 15 people, but it's like 20+ dollars for a plate of food.
Michael Scalese buy a wsm smoker and do it yourself
Michael Scalese we buy prime brisket here in ga for 30$ for a 12 lb packer
i dont want to have to pack a lunch to wait in line 5 hours to eat
Then don't go? Lol.. if you are not from the south, you wouldn't understand.
Key information is lacking: how much did it all cost?
I have a full detailed blog post with all of that information! www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
holy sugar honey iced tea
if you can add, you can figure it out
If you have to ask them you probably shouldn’t go there.
@@Femalefoodie wuh shat! 1 beef rib is thutty six dollas? I know they are huge but a whole thutty damn six dollas? 🤔😬
Lived on the Steiner Ranch for years.....BBQ is Good all over the hill country. No Way would I wait in that line .....
Clint Whatley you haven’t had the best bbq yet. As they said in this video, it’s also an experience on its own. I’ve been to franklin and it is still the best bbq I’ve had
6 hours..I don't think so. All I can say is we were in Memphis, Lockart, Tx and Kansas City, Mo and the best "Q" we ever had was at Arthur Bryant's on Brooklyn Ave in KC, There are some huge differences between what I've seen here in this video and AB's. For one AB's has fresh-cut french fries cooked in beef suet that were amazing. Their brisket is machine sliced in front of you which I prefer because of the texture and I can put it on two pieces of Sunbeam White Bread and make a sandwich out of it...I just prefer a variety on my tray and not just meat. Their baked beans are not pinto beans but navy beans which I prefer. They are all using the same type of smokers. The ribs at AB's could not be any better anywhere; not possible. I never saw any Beef Ribs at AB's but I do know that the big thing in KC are the pork ribs. I'm sure we waited around 45 minutes but nobody waits 6 hours...That is insane except for a place like Austin where it looks like it has become a rite of passage> Thanks but I'll pass on that passage. "Jamies Back In Austin" LIttle Texas....We did get to Austin, but not to Franklin. I thought the "Q" in Lockart was a disappointment, btw.
She's HOT! No disrespect meant.
R. Wally Burris she is gorgeous, and knows her shit, BBQ babe for real
Hahahaha.
Yes yes very hot and I am totally disrespecting
You didn't try the ESPRESSO bbq sauce? Common guys!
Next time!
Come eat HERCS BARBECUE in Los Angeles.
The coleslaw was meant to clear your palate so you can eat more meat
The sides are not good. But it is the best BBQ there is.
agreed!
Roughly what did that tray of meat cost? Thanks.
I have all of the menu items itemized by cost at this blog post : www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
If I was with you this filming would went a lot different
@3:54 I want to marry that woman!! She knows what real BBQ is all about. Brisket is awesome but beer ribs are where it's at.
The secret is that the first probably 50 people ordered for all their friends. So when they are close to opening all the friends show up.
From my experience pass on the turkey, sausage, and sides
What's the price??? come on!!!
I have shared the prices for everything itemized here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
630 at the latest
You didn't say how MUCH was all THAT ????
I have shared the prices for everything itemized here: www.femalefoodie.com/restaurant-reviews/franklin-bbq/
9 months and your just now going?
No live reaction?! Why make a video.
So you were starving in the line for 6 hours???? no wonder everything tasted so good
Haha for the record I did bring snacks. I was 9 months pregnant.
they put so much effort into cooking thier meat... they probably got some no name guy back there making pinto beans haha
Haha I mean... the beans were good but the meat was definitely the star of the show!
You guys must not be Texan, bc Texas has so many good BBQ places that compare to Frankie's.
Statefarm Jake true I want to tour them all
Well give us the bbq spots in Austin
