The moment Sissel's true identity was revealed onwards was INCREDIBLY emotional for me, i dunno why. Somehow, the idea that the main protagonist is the spirit of a beloved cat made me almost start crying. Im so happy they all get a happy ending, they deserve it (;__;)
Fun fact: the demo on the official website brings the story full circle by introducing Lynne from the end of the game into the events at the beginning, standing alongside Ray to teach the player the basics of the game. It's such a nice detail even though most people probably don't even know about the demo
not gonna lie i dont really understand what you said there can you please elaborate cause im interested in hoe the story loops and i didnt notice anything like that in the demo
The moment Sissel's soul turns into a cat again makes me cry every time I see it. This story is absolutely phenomenonal, and to avoid copying you, I'll simply say the puzzles and characters are too. This game is easily a 10/10, few games can match all of the aspects of it, and almost none can surpass them.
It's a very good game, but IMO it's most definitely NOT all-time great material. It's not even the best narrative puzzle game on the DS. 🤷 999 (9 Hours 9 People 9 Doors) kicks the freaking crap out of this game. Ghost Trick's art design is legitimately fantastic though, I'll definitely give you that.
42:20 Man this brings back memories. I remember crying a little over the big reveal at the end and the resolution to the plot. This game is still an underrated gem in my opinion. My favourite character is still Yomiel. Despite being the antagonist of this story, he's given a very real and believable motivation behind his actions and a story that stuck with me to this day.
@@dweebicusmaximusSAME- like- gahhhh!! Boi just wanted his life back! He just wanted to **live** and the blue guys were entirely using him. I cried, closed the game, picked it up the next day* to start playing again having forgotten where I left off and proceeded to start crying *again* XD
Spoilers Through your reading it made me so very aware how well the story was constructed. The whine mom may be a bit crazy but she was right to be disgusted in the way her husband was gonna force a man to death. Yomiel may be the antagonist but his dialogue makes it clear how little joy he has in life through his body being a corpse and despite being immortal he has nothing to live for while at the same time feels remorse because Lynne truly grasps his suffering and moves on from the view that these people deserve to suffer so he at least resolves to not be on their way while going along to see how it all ends, culminating in him solving the last detail of the final puzzle at his own expense. A detail(not that big) that is missing is that the powers of the dead reduce without a Tamzik fragment which is why Yomiel grew stronger and Missile weaker.
The biggest revelation to me: *I was playing as a goddamn cat.* Also, it makes sense why everyone kept dying, You're a Black Cat, which are Unlucky. You unlucked everyone into dying.
Isn’t that the same guy who made the Phoenix Wright? So that’s why the writing style seems familiar and why the name Missile for a dog sounded familiar
One of AA's biggest problems to me would be pacing and overlooking character depth to a point. Every case is a murder case but save for some cases like Justice For All's last case, there's not much tension. The pacing in Ghost Trick is perfect where you don't feel like the story's rushing past and every character on screen has a part to play in the story but there's still the pressing urge to move bc the whole thing is happening in one night with a perceived time limit. I honestly didn't think Shu could pull a game like Ghost Trick off but he had
I have more of an emotional attachment to trials and tribulations personally, but considering ghost trick had nowhere near as much buildup as that game AND wasn’t as long as any of the ace attorney games, I think it’s well worth arguing how impressively efficient ghost trick is as tying all of this shit together. Again, I might have more of an emotional attachment to Ace Attorney personally, but god damn ghost trick is an absolute fucking MASTERPIECE
oh hell yes, Ghost Trick! My friends still shout "WELCOME!" at each other with Missile emotes on our discord servers. This game is a part of me that I will never leave I need to replay this at some point...
this is my favorite puzzle game of all time, remember being so surprised that none of my friends had heard about it back in the day, is nice to see it will get a second chance and that there are others out there that also remember it fondly.
After watching Jello Plays Games playthrough of this game, I could not get over how awesome the story, character and music is. Also, Missle is a good boy 🧡
GOD I love this game. My dad downloaded it with a bunch of other ds games for my pirated ds, not knowing or caring about them. I started playing it at random and it was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made I was so obsessed with the game i replayed it multiple times, especially the final chapter, Sissel my beloved
The story had so much to it and so many twists and turns that seemed impossible yet the developers were able to bring it all together Your fantastic explanation definitely helped
I noticed you used a Ghost Trick track in your Crooked Man video and that's when I fell in love with your content, but now you make _this?_ Ghost Trick is my #1 game of all time and I really hope this video and the upcoming remaster seriously boost its popularity. Thank you for bringing attention to this masterpiece of a game (:
I remember picking up ghost trick by chance for halloween a few years back. It's such a great game and has such an amazing story, soundtrack, and gameplay! And the video was done so well!
Ghost Trick is probably the best example of a game for the DS visual-wise. I watched a playthrough of it 2 years ago and the twist at the end genuinely shocked me. Thanks for covering this game!
I played this game as a kid and was obsessed with the art style, and seeing this awoke so many memories from me. I thank you for helping me remember this game!!!
Wow, just from this video I was insanely invested in the story. This is exactly the kind of game my dad used to play when I was a kid. Also I love that you made a big deal about 20 K subscribers but now two hours after posting your video you have almost 30 K. Does my heart good to see passionate personal project style channels making it big.
I've had a special interest for ace attorney for several years now, when the ghost trick remaster was announced the ace attorney community banded around it (the game was created by Shu Takumi, the creator of ace attorney). I finally played it last year and it really shows itself as a shining example of Takumi's writing in even just one-off projects. The way he comes up with these incredibly unique murder mystery scenarios in ways that still somehow hold our suspension of disbelief and carry so much emotional weight. Takumi's character writing in this title is also absolutely top-notch. The dialogue is always snappy and stylish, never really dragging, while each character also has a unique "voice." There is no single "perfect" Ace Attorney game, but Ghost Trick is as close to a perfect game as it gets and I think that *that's* much more of a tell of Takumi's skill..... That and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
Just finished the Remaster. Wonderful experience! Thank you so much for bringing this game to my attention. I joked to myself that Sissel was actually the cat when they show that flashback to Yomiel’s body falling onto the couch. Screamed when the reveal was made 😂
Ghost tricks story still makes me cry, and the fact the remaster launched alongside Raincode is just poetry, I love both games and couldn't put either down, the day they share is blessed
I am shocked that this game did poorly in sales! I replayed this game over and over back in the day and absolutely loved it! I am so happy it’s getting a remake, because it deserves it. A truly underrated classic!
What timing. I've been on a binge of people's blind LPs of Ghost Trick lately. (Like doing that for this game and To The Moon, since I love the stories, can experience their reactions and the can multitask that way.)
...UA-cam ate my follow up comment in progress! D': So without time stamps: The "rule" for Lynne's first death that results in Sissel having to climb up from where the body was when he entered it is broken twice (and upheld once for the "failed" execution). The first is the driver's body bringing Sissel to the park, which can be explained by a technicality that the body was still on the van when he appeared in the past, even if it wasn't at the same coordinates on the planet. The second is for the last death. There is zero way you can claim the body is anywhere near where Sissels ends up. Easy fix? They would have had Sissel appear up top where Lynne's body fell when shot, and you'd have Sissel where Jowd's body was post-explosion. (That puzzel would remain the same, as without the guards and the dripping water, he's still have to use the phones to get to the cells to start off.) The first time I played this game, I _hated_ the ending, but loved the characters so much I returned to play again despite that. Now, after several replays, I love it. There is SO MUCH foreshadowing of the main reveal at the ending. I was surprised you didn't mention the form Lynne took when her soul first woke up, as that's one of them. Another that I don't hear many people state is just how _curious_ a fellow Sissel is. ;) His utter lack of knowledge about many basic things, insistence on messing with rats, and shared love of the spot between wall and bed are others. The main thing I adore from this game, though, is how it keeps hitting you on the head with "Don't judge people! You don't know all the facts!" You took some creative licence in relation to when certain facts are learned, but also left loads of the game unrevealed for people to discover. I approve. As for the HD remake, I am waiting on reviews of it. I originally got the game on my iPod, and now have it on DS (since I don't own Apple products any more). Unfortunately, To The Moon had a Switch release and they switched some of the jokes and dialogue from the original game to make it more "acceptable" and there is a lot of humour in this game that some people doing LPs call out as "questionable". If they don't change anything in the story and dialogue, and there's not a full game price on it ($40 max, and that's pushing it), then I'd gladly get it for a third time. And now I'm off to watch Ghost Trick and To The Moon LPs en Français, because (holy crud!) that is a thing! And I am, oh so very technically, French. :p EDIT: *sighs* It wasn't a blind LP, so that steals the joy of seeing people's reactions to the absurdity. That's okay, though, there are a LOT of LPs left to view!

Yomiel has a lot in common with Yanni Yogi from Ace Attorney. Takumi really likes the idea of a tragic antagonist who named a pet about his dead fiancée huh. Fun fact: the demo on the official website brings the story full circle by introducing Lynne from the end of the game into the events at the beginning, standing alongside Ray to teach the player the basics of the game. It's such a nice detail even though most people probably don't even know about the demo
can i still play it?
cause the demo on switch is just chapter 1 & 2 from final game
not gonna lie i dont really understand what you said there can you please elaborate cause im interested in hoe the story loops and i didnt notice anything like that in the demo
@@السراقالمجهول Yes, but you will need a computer as it runs using Adobe Flash? I'll see if I can send a link
Him just wanting the blue folks to give him a normal life *broke* me
@@dweebicusmaximusSAME-
like- gahhhh!! Boi just wanted his life back! He just wanted to **live** and the blue guys were entirely using him. I cried, closed the game, picked it up the next day* to start playing again having forgotten where I left off and proceeded to start crying *again* XD
It makes me happy he got to live happily ever after with his fiancé… after ten years in prison lol
Spoiler incoming
I’m gonna admit, I never expected to cry over the reveal that a lamp was secretly a dog.

Through your reading it made me so very aware how well the story was constructed.
The biggest revelation to me: *I was playing as a goddamn cat.*
Also, it makes sense why everyone kept dying, You're a Black Cat, which are Unlucky.
You unlucked everyone into dying.
Man, that ending still makes me cry tears of joy every time. God I love this game.
It’s such a heartwarming ending.
Hell yeah it’s Ghost Trick! This is one of the best games I ever played and it’s awesome that you’re making a video about it
Might be a hot take, but this is Shu Takumi’s best game
Again, I might have more of an emotional attachment to Ace Attorney personally, but god damn ghost trick is an absolute fucking MASTERPIECE
as a massive ace attorney fan, i absolutely agree
oh hell yes, Ghost Trick!
My friends still shout "WELCOME!" at each other with Missile emotes on our discord servers. This game is a part of me that I will never leave
I need to replay this at some point...
this is my favorite puzzle game of all time, remember being so surprised that none of my friends had heard about it back in the day, is nice to see it will get a second chance and that there are others out there that also remember it fondly.
I still remember the time I was left flabbergasted at the ending, what a twist!
After watching Jello Plays Games playthrough of this game, I could not get over how awesome the story, character and music is. Also, Missle is a good boy 🧡
Some might say...
The Best.
@@JamesTDG Best boy ☺
We always acknowledge missile’s good boyness, but what about sissile?
@@eldritchcupcakes3195Sissel is the best immortal kitten.
GOD I love this game. My dad downloaded it with a bunch of other ds games for my pirated ds, not knowing or caring about them. I started playing it at random and it was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made
I was so obsessed with the game i replayed it multiple times, especially the final chapter, Sissel my beloved
The story had so much to it and so many twists and turns that seemed impossible yet the developers were able to bring it all together
Your fantastic explanation definitely helped
I noticed you used a Ghost Trick track in your Crooked Man video and that's when I fell in love with your content, but now you make _this?_ Ghost Trick is my #1 game of all time and I really hope this video and the upcoming remaster seriously boost its popularity. Thank you for bringing attention to this masterpiece of a game (:
I remember picking up ghost trick by chance for halloween a few years back. It's such a great game and has such an amazing story, soundtrack, and gameplay! And the video was done so well!
I must admit, i was VERY surprised at that twist with Sissel
also congrats on 26K dude!
I certainly didn’t expect Sissel to be a cat.
It's amazing to see how this guy is able to make these 50-minute videos over the course of a week.
A ghost trick review from a UA-camr I like! I immediately clicked on this video, I have a deep love for this game. This will be good!
Yup, Bailey is officially my favorite character. He just has a fun life. The dance he did is the best 😂
This makes me want to play the game myself now
It's a Safety Dance
His dancing is really funny, especially when it speeds up.
The dialogue is always snappy and stylish, never really dragging, while each character also has a unique "voice."
There is no single "perfect" Ace Attorney game, but Ghost Trick is as close to a perfect game as it gets and I think that *that's* much more of a tell of Takumi's skill..... That and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
Just finished the Remaster. Wonderful experience! Thank you so much for bringing this game to my attention.
I joked to myself that Sissel was actually the cat when they show that flashback to Yomiel’s body falling onto the couch. Screamed when the reveal was made 😂
47:41
CONGRATULATIONS!
You are immortal.
Now, you'll be able to watch everyone you love die. Forever.
Ghost tricks story still makes me cry, and the fact the remaster launched alongside Raincode is just poetry, I love both games and couldn't put either down, the day they share is blessed
This game was one of the only to keep me at the edge of my seat
I am shocked that this game did poorly in sales! I replayed this game over and over back in the day and absolutely loved it! I am so happy it’s getting a remake, because it deserves it.
A truly underrated classic!
GHOST TRICK!!! This game stole my soul when I was a kid so I'm so happy you're making a video on it
What timing. I've been on a binge of people's blind LPs of Ghost Trick lately. (Like doing that for this game and To The Moon, since I love the stories, can experience their reactions and the can multitask that way.)
...UA-cam ate my follow up comment in progress! D':
So without time stamps:
The "rule" for Lynne's first death that results in Sissel having to climb up from where the body was when he entered it is broken twice (and upheld once for the "failed" execution).
(That puzzel would remain the same, as without the guards and the dripping water, he's still have to use the phones to get to the cells to start off.)
The first time I played this game, I _hated_ the ending, but loved the characters so much I returned to play again despite that.
Now, after several replays, I love it. There is SO MUCH foreshadowing of the main reveal at the ending.
I was surprised you didn't mention the form Lynne took when her soul first woke up, as that's one of them.
Another that I don't hear many people state is just how _curious_ a fellow Sissel is. ;)
His utter lack of knowledge about many basic things, insistence on messing with rats, and shared love of the spot between wall and bed are others.
The main thing I adore from this game, though, is how it keeps hitting you on the head with "Don't judge people! You don't know all the facts!"
You took some creative licence in relation to when certain facts are learned, but also left loads of the game unrevealed for people to discover.
EDIT: *sighs* It wasn't a blind LP, so that steals the joy of seeing people's reactions to the absurdity.
That's okay, though, there are a LOT of LPs left to view!
This game was my childhood, I'm so glad to see it being talked about!
i watched the first 7 minutes of this video before the remaster came out and decided immediatly that i wanted to play it too. i FINALLY finished the game today after procrastinating on it for months and omg! this game is so amazing! had to come back to this video right after I finished the game lol.
lovely video, lovely game
the scene where Yomiel and Sissel say their goodbyes made me cry like !!!!!! also Yomiel's trash body is an absolute banger of a design.
Im so happy that this channel exist! I’m in love with everything: the editing, your voice, the jokes, how complete and detailed this is and I could go on and on… Thank you for unlocking a memory that I had buried so deep in my mind, holy crap
Holy crap. I thought I had never heard of this series before but I remember the main characters design from somewhere. It's so striking!
Not a series, sadly. Just a standalone.
Having just finished this game, damn it’s an amazing puzzle game with a charming cast of characters. I can see why people refuse to spoil things when asked about the game, it’s amazing twists
note that missile saving kamila made her think that sissel was missile when he first jumped into her already activated core
You're so right - everything is set up and feels so simple, but the use of forced perspective, the way the information is structured, it's a masterclass. Magnificent game
The way you can just tell that Ghost Trick was made by the people who worked on Ace Attorney lol. Great video as always!!
I've never heard of this game before, but after watching this video I can definitely say this is criminally underrated, as is your channel. Definitely going to be checking out the remaster when it comes out, and thank you for the insanely high quality video that had me hooked instantly!
The game that I most wish I could experience again for the first time. Can't believe it's so underrated, I really hope the remaster gets it more attention because it's genuinely one of the best games I've ever played
I played ghost trick summer of 2021 at a time when I thought I had played through all spectacular DS games. And, wow, it was one of those games I knew I would enjoy and remember for awhile. Still occasionally go back and listen to its OST. I was itching to relieve a similar vibe to Ace Attorney and it really gave me that and more. I just wish it was longer.
I can't get over the animation of this game, its jaw dropping.
I’ve never heard of this game before but dang was I interested! Maybe if I can, I’ll pick up the remaster and give it a try! Also congrats on 20k subs, definitely deserved!!
It's from the same creator as ace attorney btw! In fact it was the next game he made after the original series was completed
All the games made from Shu takumi are awesome
You are a person of good taste, Ben Again. As soon as I saw this in my notifications I was so hype. I hope this game does amazingly so more people know about it.
Spoilers: (you should seriously play this game if you have even a remote interest in puzzle/mystery, its extremely good)
the headshape matching the eyes in the thumbnail is soooo good. love how it alludes to who sissel really is without outright saying it. the truth hidden in plain sight, just like when you first see cat. stimulates many of my neurons. props to whoever made it, its wonderful.
Ghost Trick is amazingly good. After learning about it due to it being related to the Phoenix Wright series, I'm so happy it's getting a remaster so more people can experience it. Amazing content, as usual
Sad fun fact: Missile, who was the real life dog inspiration for Missile in Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick, passed away at the age of 11 in 2018 :(
I NEVER could have been prepared for that plot twist, but omg do i love it dearly
Thank you very much for recommending this game! I just finished playing it on Steam. Absolutely lovely story!
Man, OFF and Ghost Trick? You've covered two of my favorite cult classics! I'm sure by sticking around your channel I'll be informed of other delightful projects.
Oh yeah, this one is special. Played this on mobile, and man was this one hell of a trip. Twists within twists, all wrapped up in highly enjoyable gameplay. Man, I should play this again.
I am in love with how you review games, its fun and easy to understand and all the sections transition over smoothly, and i love ur voice and how calming it is. keep making great content like this! you made me absolutely fall in love with the game without ur vid i wouldnt have given this game a second glance,i love obscure ds games.
I adore ghost tricks. Awesome gameplay with an intriguing story. I saw that it's on steam so im gonna buy it when it comes out.
Yomiel has a lot in common with Yanni Yogi from Ace Attorney. Takumi really likes the idea of a tragic antagonist who named a pet about his dead fiancée huh. They even both try to get “revenge” on someone who was part of the incident that ruined his life, a major character who was a child at the time of the incident, by luring them to an isolated location and framing them for murder
It is a good day when Ben uploads Again
I'm not sobbing at 4am over the story of a kitten getting to be immortal because of a time loop meteor crash, you are.
jesus the story was absolute bonkers, i can't wait for more people to experience it
Man. I remember playing the free opening portion of this game on my iPad then getting the full DS game as a surprise birthday present... MY NOSTALGIA HEART STRINGS HURK
Played this game blind because I saw your video (only saw the intro and decided to give it a try) thank you so much for putting this game in my eyes! I actually played a demo way back when but completely forgot about it as I had no idea what was going on!
I love Sissel so much. He's just a lil lad who deserves all the pets and cat treats 🖤
Damn I did not expect to get so invested in this story. Honestly did not expect the story to go that way but this is really awesome!
I am so torn on watching this because you convinced me to play it when the remaster comes out so I don't want to spoil it!
i'm usually a silent viewer but MAN i didn't expect one of my favorite youtubers to cover ghost trick!!! i hope this video reaches more people and gives them that lil nudge to play the game itself, which is why im commenting this to help it get pushed by the algorithm :] banger vid as always 10/10 will binge again
Holy shit this game is getting a remaster??? I didn't know that, that's sick! I used to love the game to death when I had it (both it's story AND OST), it was one of the best games I had played back then; I definitely look forward to the remaster!
All of your videos are actually entertaining and doesnt add any uneccessary stuff
Can't wait to see you grow man!!
Congrats again on 20k (nearly 30k now)! It's great to see someone show love to the more complicated levels in this game, it can be easy to let frustration get in the way of appreciating how really masterful some of these puzzles are. I'd love to see your take on Darkest Dungeon!

I always loved this game, and seeing Ben again talking about it honestly made me tear up a bit a the end 😅
I remember stumbling on this by accident back in highschool (about 2011-2013), just looking for anything to play. It was more than a pleasant surprise to find how enjoyable and amazing this game is, truly a game that deserves the spotlight it's getting. Thank you for letting all of us reminisce this game through your video, I enjoyed watching!
Man ghost trick was so good. I remember playing it and thinking about how I wanted to make something like it.
It's a big inspiration for me.
This is a year old video but I'm really disappointed that this video is basically just a re-telling of Ghost Trick- I've already played the game, twice! I wanna hear what YOU love about it instead of telling me things I already know.
What DO you think about the characters? The subtle hints to Sissel not being who they are? Yomei's curse? Beard daddy's guilt and how they react to it during the accident?
I want to hear why Ghost Trick is a masterpiece because I think so too.
You earned every one of those 20k unexpected subs Ben. Your Crooked Man video was fantastic.
Honestly, man, you talking about this game is awesome. When it comes out on steam I'll definitely play it. Great job with the video, it's super entertaining. You've got some crazy charm.
I cried at the ending omg
When Missile said 'Because that what good doggies do!' towards the end, I started tearing up.
_That is what good doggies do, little buddy_
8:45 that is the only pussle i got stick on. Great game still
Big thanks for reminding me of it, had a very pleasant experience replaying.
The game itself could be a little better (constant switching between ghost/non ghost is a bit tiring) but the plot is S-Tier, a true masterpiece
This is my favorite game of all time! I'm so glad to see it get more recognition on you tube. It's truly a masterpiece deserving of more attention
I agree it's underrated! I've played this like way long ago, and I loved it then too, I don't remember all the details of the story, but remember the bigger twists, this video helped jog my memory lol. This was the first puzzle game that I made sure NOT to look up walkthroughs for as a kid lol. Such great puzzles and what a good mystery. Hearing that it's getting a remake is awesome
One of my favorite endings in gaming. It was pretty damn well executed, and it's really wholesome too.
I’ve played this game many years ago and forgot about it until a remastered version was announced. The story was so good and so tragic I started crying as well. And the music, I can’t believe I forgot this gem of a game. The concept and gameplay was just so fun and unique and all the memories are rushing back. Aaaah I’m so excited for the remastered release!
One part of the game I liked but don't think many people saw was going back to the old locations at the start of each chapter. Getting to see what the other characters were up to was super nice
I dont understand how they made the animation look this good on a DS.
