Peruvian have been eating ceviche for more than 5000 years since the first civilization called Caral(Cradle of culture in the Americas) was located north of lima. The first civilization on the continent. Ceviche changed in its preparation when the conquistador came to Peru: local people replaced their citrics from the Amazon for limes, and onions brought it from the conquistador. They used to cook it with lime and let it rest for hours; then it suffered another change when the Japanese immigration arrived at the end of the 19th century giving it freshness by letting it cook for a few minutes and adding a twist of Ginger root juice to it. Some places don’t use ginger juice in their ceviches. So it has suffered two changes since 5000 years ago. Ceviche is from Peru, so don't feel bad saying that Peruvian ceviche originated in Perú. you’re speaking the truth.👍🏻
I enjoyed your video very much. Both of you are so natural and speak well, clearly and precisely. Your introduction of Lima is delightful and knowledgeable! Thank you for sharing.
Ceviche is original from Perú, also if you don’t like raw fish, you can tell the waitress little more time marinated the fish in the lemon juice. Also is very important is wild fish, not farmed !
you should go back again and try the Churros which are very close to San Francisco Church, they are addictive (if you are into sweets). Also, for more cultural experiences, try going to "Museo Larco" in Pueblo Libre district, and "Callao Monumental" in Callao province (right next to lima, they are like 2 different cities in the past that got together due to how fast they grew). If you need transportation, let me know!
My uncle does the parasailing off the cliffs of Miraflores, definitely worth a try for wild overhead views of the city! Also mid video I was about to type out that y'all make sure to go to the catacombs and y'all beat me to it! 🤣 Congrats on the trip! Make sure to try all the Donofrio ice cream as well!
The song the band was playing is known in the US as Bridge Over Troubled Water. Written by Paul Simon and performed by Simon and Garfunkel. A song composed in Peru called El Condor Pasa was the basis of the theme. Super famous in the US, but originated in effect, in Peru.
Correct band! But the song is still called El Condor Pasa (If I Could) performed by Simon and Garfunkel. Still a great song and cool to be in the country in which it originated!
@@tomsaxton970 yeah!! you're totally RIGHT! That song is a Peruvian composition originally, even Yma Sumac played it in 30s. Unfortunately, it became more famous played by U.S. than by Peru. That's why it have to do the remark the melody, the composition is Peruvian.
One of the secret of the Climate in Lima city is taking a bus for about 30 minutes in the direction of the East ( Andes ) we can enjoy a sunny day, even during the winter time. Hey guys so happy to see you made it to Lima. We enjoyed it while we were there. So many beautiful districts to visit. It’s a great location to start your journey in Peru. Wish we were there with you guys. Enjoyed the video. Can't wait to watch your Peru Series. Safe travels ❣️🥰❣️
Hello , it was a pleasure to see your videos when you were in Peru. The editing and quality of the work is like National Geographic but with an special good twist
The Historic Center of Lima is undergoing a huge transformation now, some of the streets you walked by are now pedestrian exclusive. Restoration of old buildings will follow. I hope you guys come back soon!
It’s very cute how you look up at his as you talk. Great video. I’ll be traveling proof for three months starting in two weeks I’m super excited I’ll be checking out your food tour as well
Nice and fresh video. Thank you! I miss my country and your video gave me refreshing memories. FYI, you hear El Condor Pasa offer because it’s written by Peruvian composer, so basically is Peruvian 😁✌️💕
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
4:38 In Lima it never rains, in autumn and winter there is a lot of fog, the sky is cloudy, there are small drizzles, but it never rains like in Ecuador. You don't have to use an umbrella.
Darn! when we was in Lima we didn’t hold are breath on the bridge lol we won’t be together forever now 🙁 . Was very nice to meet you guys today we will follow your story very closely 😊 see you in Canada 😉
great vid guys. here are some things you should do Circuito Magico Del Agua (water park) Gamarra Market (huge clothing market) Monumental Callao The Real Felipe fortress Abtao Submarine Museum Monumental Callao The Real Felipe fortress Abtao Submarine Museum these can all be done in a few hours as they are in the same location there are 2 zoos. I've only ever been to the main one even though I've been there 5 times do a food tour or cooking class. i never have but seems interesting. i never have because my wife is from there. Dancing Horse Show - Lunch Buffet & Pachacamac Inca Remains ( couldnt remember the name of this so i googled it but this is nice!) if you like horses and dancing these are things that i like in lima personally that you have not seen yet. just going off this video. have fun guys
Nice vid! The natives created ceviche over a thousand years ago. Just a note on some of Peru's neighbors...they were a part of Peru prior to Spanish colonization and also during the Vice Royalty. At one point the Vice Royalty of Peru went from Panama to Argentina. It was only after Spain realized that the vast territories were so much greater than any kingdom in Europe that they decided to break them off into more Vice Royalties and Captainries. It's only after our independence from Spain that they became independent nations. So take it with a grain of salt when they say something is not Peruvian but theirs. Whether it be Pisco or Ceviche. Cuzco and Lima were the centers of power and influence under both Native and Spanish rule.
The bridge on 7:05 as you can see has guardrails , those were placed there in the 2000's because during the 90s it was infamous for people throwing themselves off to commit suicide. Also go to San Juan de Lurigancho😉
A couple of recommendations while editing videos about Peru. For boosting the number of visits + likes add spanish titles next to the english titles in your videos for example "visiting peruvian market visitando mercado peruano " . a 2do recomendation is adding spanish subtitles in the "options"
Hey! That's a great recommendation. However, if you click on Settings > Subtitles > Auto Generate > Spanish, then you will be able to watch the entire video with Spanish subtitles! We review all of our English subtitles on UA-cam so that the video can translate through Auto Generated subtitles! Thanks for watching!
Can you please comment on how your entry process into Peru was? We are planning to go in January but are curious about PCR tests, vaccination passports etc.
We had no complications entering Peru! We had to get a PCR test within 72 hrs. That was the protocol regardless of vaccination. But we would recommend relying on airline websites for up to date information.... things could change quickly in the next few months so it’s best to rely on airline/government websites for information! Hope that helps!
Amazing editing would love to learn to make videos like this, in Rio Brazil if you ever visit would love to grab some pointers, anyways enjoy South American!
El condor pasa is very popular here because this is where the song was originated. Im happy that you enjoyed lima centro the only bad part is that you went during the last goverment and that president liked closing the main square, nowadays its fully open to the public
I loved this video !!! Except for the “best ceviche “part LOL 😂 I’m Ecuadorian our cebiche is the best hahhaha ok ok I have to agree their fish ceviche is great! Our shrimp 🍤 cebiche is better though 😋😋😋😋 . I’m excited I will be there soon !! I’m worried about covid restrictions is it true they ask 3 dosis ???
that is Viceregal architecture, not colonial. Lima also has pyramids and those cliffs are higher than the ones in Southern California, nothing like it in any other latin American country
Actually you can had a worn from complete raw ceviche because lemon don't cook at all the fish just change the presentation so just play the game if you get it or don't.
Ceviche only exists in Peru. In Ecuador they boil the fish and make it some kind of hot onion soup. Ceviche is raw fish marinated with citrus and spice.
@@letsgomaite5955 if you boil the fish, it is no longer ceviche. In other parts of the world, they turn into a salad where raw fish is just one of many protagonists. All they have is fish with lemon with spice as an aggregate, not as the concoction that marinates the raw fish.
@@etchalaco9971 We cook the fish with lemon juice over night that is nothing like boiling. I am sorry you haven't been invited to real ecuadorian household.
@@letsgomaite5955 the fish is boiled and it has lemon and a manufactured product like ketchup. It is kind of a soup actually and hot. It is good, but more like a fish soup.
Although I did not climb the small Machu Picchu, I was told to a couple who had. Be aware of taking photos of one’s climb up the small Machu Picchu without a dehaze filter on one’s camera. The ultra violet haze will make one’s photos impossible to view.
That is a very good recommendation about the Filter. I climbed up Huayna Picchu, about 17 years ago when it wasn't as famous as now. It wasn't necessary to make a reservation

The Historic Center of Lima is undergoing a huge transformation now, some of the streets you walked by are now pedestrian exclusive. Restoration of old buildings will follow. I hope you guys come back soon!

4:38 In Lima it never rains, in autumn and winter there is a lot of fog, the sky is cloudy, there are small drizzles, but it never rains like in Ecuador. You don't have to use an umbrella.

Yeah , riding a horse ""Caballo Peruano de Paso"" is very good
Nice!! I hope you guys have a good time in my country!! ;)
About that statue..... "Not now; not like this...." is the correct answer. 😃 Great content, as always!
Hahaha thanks Brian! :)
Ceviche ❤️ 🇵🇪
Hi guys! In Lima there is a park that’s called Parque de Los Gatos. You can go there if yo want. Great video by the way! 😊
Thanks for the recommendation! 😊
Changing the Guard is a classic daily ceremony at the Presidential Palace of Peru.
We knew it was a daily thing but didn’t expect the full band for it! It was awesome :)
The bridge on 7:05 as you can see has guardrails , those were placed there in the 2000's because during the 90s it was infamous for people throwing themselves off to commit suicide. Also go to San Juan de Lurigancho😉
Love Love Love your videos.
Thank you 🥰🥰
A couple of recommendations while editing videos about Peru.
@@EricandSarah the Spanish subtitle does not work, just in English. 😉🤭
OMG Jesús Super Star in Lima.
Hermoso video de Perú
condor pasa is actually from Peru
That’s right! Such a great song! It’s just amazing that it’s played everywhere for every occasion.
thank you for visiting my country
Wow
Can you please comment on how your entry process into Peru was? We are planning to go in January but are curious about PCR tests, vaccination passports etc.
We had no complications entering Peru! We had to get a PCR test within 72 hrs. That was the protocol regardless of vaccination. But we would recommend relying on airline websites for up to date information.... things could change quickly in the next few months so it’s best to rely on airline/government websites for information! Hope that helps!
*! excelente intro con la bandera peruana ! /! excellent introduction with the Peruvian flag !*
Where did you guys eat ceviche?? That place looks awesome!
It’s called Punta Sal in Miraflores! Honestly just found it by walking by... the food and views were great! :)
It is 12 pm this is the husares de Junín changing of the guards
Great video! where did you go for the Ceviche? It was great meeting you guys on the tour in Puno! -Tim & Yeri
It was called Punta Sal in Miraflores :) Great to meet you guys too!
It looks pretty safe there, I was a little worried about going
We’ve never felt unsafe in Lima!
Miraflores, Barranco are pretty safe. But you still have to keep your eyes open .
Amazing editing would love to learn to make videos like this, in Rio Brazil if you ever visit would love to grab some pointers, anyways enjoy South American!
Thanks Adam! One day we’ll make it to Brazil :)
Looks like santa monica CA
Yes, it does. Greetings from Lima!
ua-cam.com/video/EFc9S_Fvgxk/v-deo.html
that is Viceregal architecture, not colonial. Lima also has pyramids and those cliffs are higher than the ones in Southern California, nothing like it in any other latin American country
Where did you stay in Lima and Cusco. Can you share the place
Nice!
Great video.
We’re thinking of going to Lima, when you say you went in Peruvian winter, what month did you mean? Was it cold enough for coats etc?
Hello Friends.Evert day at 12 pm there is a changing of the guard, Those who march and play the music are part of the President´s escort
Hi Guys, i am going to Lima, Peru for first time in Feburary. Any good hotel and vegetable food restaurant suggestions near by punta Hermosa.
🔱Rich Peruvian Ceviche 🇵🇪
hey...now you're in my country, I'm in Tarapoto
Awesome! :)
Actually you can had a worn from complete raw ceviche because lemon don't cook at all the fish just change the presentation so just play the game if you get it or don't.
peruavians have been eating ceviche for millennia
Ceviche only exists in Peru. In Ecuador they boil the fish and make it some kind of hot onion soup. Ceviche is raw fish marinated with citrus and spice.
Not correct
Guys! if you are in Cusco now, it's filming the new Transformers film. If you want to do a cameo there :)
We were in Cusco trying to film a video the day they were filming! Couldn’t get to the places we wanted to go because everything was blocked off 😂
Although I did not climb the small Machu Picchu, I was told to a couple who had.
Fun fact: Simon and Garfunkel did a version of Condor Pasa and they named it 'If I Could'.
We LOVE that song!!
Hi, hope all is well. I was talking to my mother on the phone and she is worried about you guys because it has been more then a week since you posted a video lol
Hi Jay! Tell your mom she is very sweet for being worried about us. All is well… we’ve just been travelling a bit faster than normal the last couple weeks so didn’t have time to edit a video last week! But there will be a nice long one up tomorrow so enjoy that :) :)
Lima think san fran...same climate, and that cold water 365 days.
How much does a Persian Kitten cost in Lima?
Nos gusta la cancion o melodia del condor pasa por que es 100% peruano
lima is a cool city make sure you go out of tourist areas
Yes it’s a very cool city! If only it wasn’t so grey ;)
@@EricandSarah ah yes so true
