The street food you went to is Jalan Alor - where tourist like you guys being ripped off. Normal street price for a plate of mee goreng would never be more than RM7! Here are some tips about food: 1. For authentic malay food like nasi lemak, always go to Kampung Baru. 2. For authentic Indian food, try Brickfields area. 3. For chinese food, Petaling Street provide better options. 4. Try our national drink of Teh Tarik - Available at any malay or indian restaurant. The best and most authentic version is always at any 'mamak' (Indian muslim) restaurant. To be frank, a set of street meal (a plate of food and a glass of drink) by Malaysian standard could never be more than 2 British Pound!
U should bargain half of the price suggested for the toy, the price is only between rm10 to rm15. Yes, the seller is not local but an illegel foreigner, don't ever buy fr them. U must know how to recognize them fr our local people. They are fr Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Parkistan, Cambodia, Indonesia,The Philippines & a few other countries.
I am a Filipino and travelled to Malaysia 3rd quarter of last year, and I can say that Malaysia is far better than the Philippines, very clean, traffic is not a pain in the a... let's just say I really enjoyed my travel there and wishing that fellow Filipinos back home are also that disciplined.
You should go to Kampung Baru for more authentic food. One of the most popular Nasi Lemak in KL is there, Look for Nasi Lemak Wanjo. You should also try Nasi Kerabu and Nasi Dagang there, authentic dish originally from east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia, Kelantan and Terengganu. The food are available from breakfast to nite time. Learn more about Kampung Baru, it is one of a kind.
@@ravishankark4453 The Ramadan Bazaar is at Jalan Raja Alang( Bazar Ramdan Kg Baru on Google Map) . The restaurants are at Jalan Raja Musa Bazaar (Pintu Gerbang Kg Baru, Kuala Lumpur on Google Map).
First off, i should say that that was not a night market and not even a place where a local would go for a meal. If you saw locals there, it could have been one of those rare occasions or they brought a friend from out of country or they were not Malaysians (but you thought they were). That place is a tourist trap, really. Secondly, when i heard the Grab driver suggest "nasi lemak" i was like, "C'mon, not at that time of day." It's more of a breakfast dish, maybe served for lunch too in some places, but later in the day it's harder to find. Possible, but you have to know where to go. And then it was kinda funny when Lucy talked about the rice in the hotel, cooked in coconut milk but she didn't realize that she was describing "nasi lemak" 😂 Yes, that's what "nasi lemak" is, in contrast to what the Grab driver said: "fatty rice" - it makes me wonder if the driver was a local or not. Or just didn't know how "nasi lemak" is made. Thirdly, that place is not far from LalaPort, just a walking distance away, but i guess with an infant in tow walking a half an hour over terrain not friendly to baby carriages is out of the question. Which brings me to my final point.... If you wish to experience a real night market, you'll have to go to the one in Taman Connaught, Cheras. However, with a baby carriage that could be quite a challenge if not near impossible. But if somehow you find a way to bring Coda minus the carriage, go there. It's open on Wednesday nights. "Pasar malam" or night markets are open on different days at different locations, and they each have its own character and offerings. Enquire with your local guide which one or ones you might visit as per your convenience. Enjoy!
Nasi Lemak is usually a Breakfast thing. However, you can still find it in the restaurants in the shopping malls if you really want it. An easy choice would be "Madam Kwan'' (a famous rest. in a few Malls in KL) Nasi Lemak w curry chicken. I saw people below commented "Nasi Lemak Wanjo" is also a good choice but you might have to travel a little bit to Kampung Baru.
Missin' KL especially Jalan Alor & the Petronas!!! Been to KL thrice and I still wanna go back! There's something so addicting with KL, i duno whyyyyy! So happy you're enjoying one of my fave cities to go back to! Char Kwey Teow is my fave noodle dish there! I also like Satay! Can't wait to book my flight going back there! I'm salivating here!!! Happy New Year George, Lucy & Koda!
I remember thame tine Im there, foods was cheap even bramded cloths. U mke me miss Malaysia... Lucy just say "maka sih" short cut for Terima kasih mean thank you
For mall videos, you should go to the following: 1. The Exchange TRX 2. Lalaport 3. Lot 10 4. Pavilion (KL and bukit jalil) 5. Starhill and farenheit 88 6. Suria KLCC 7. Mid Valley Megamall and Gardens 8. 118 Mall (Opening end of this year)
Nah man, locals don't go there anymore because the prices are a rip-off. And most of the workers there are foreign and will try and get u to buy stuff (I mean their Malaysian bosses tell them to do it lol). But Malaysians in general are too polite to do that kind of stuff. If u go to where locals go, the vibe is way more chill and a lot less chaotic and should be 2-3 times cheaper than this place (Jalan Alor)
it's hard to find nasi lemak in Kuala Lumpur area because not many people can do it properly, if u want nasi lemak u can go Kampung Baru area. 15 min walking from KLCC. there have Nasi Lemak Wanjo 1 of the best. also, Kampung Baru area, have alot of option food that u can eat. nasi lemak Village Park Restaurant at Bangsar also top notch.
There is a very popular street market food near you called Jalan Alor. It’s very nice and crowded. Local and celebs often goto the end of the street to find a restaurant called Wong Ah Wah to have their grill chicken wings, Salted egg sotong (Calamari) and all other noodles u just had. Yum Yum :)
RM15 for a plate of fried noodle? You get conned!! It should be nit mire than RM8 per plate. Satey about RM1.60 per stick for beef and RM1.20 for chicken
Malaysia hands down has the best street food in whole south east asia. A wide range of flavors not the boring grilled or fried salty and savory mediocre food 😅
Not only Malaysia has traditional Malay, Chinese and Indian food but people from Thailand, Indonesia and some Arab countries come here as well with their own dishes.
@@fauzanriez9472 The countries you pointed out have legitimately good food prepared meticulously with a wide array of spices… Not the boring salt, pepper, lime deep fried or grilled with soy sauce bland tasting food 😂
U guys can go to Kampung Baru, walking distance fr KLCC or u can take a grab there. U can eat nasi lemak at nasi lemak Wan Jo, and u can eat sate too while u r in kampung baru. KG baru is the last Malay Village right in the middle of KL. You will be spoiled for choice of Malay delicacies plus Indonesians and Thai food too in Kg Baru. U will regret itnif you didnt visit Kg Baru while u are in KL😊
its beautiful but chaotic there at night. miss KL. reasonable prices and they have Nando's. ate nasi lemak at wanjo baru and try ramly burger and wagyu skewers near pavilion mall. Ingat lagi fam....
Ah Japan alor! I used to live 10 minutes away from there, through chankat and the busy bar area; my apartment was right there! Try oyster Omlette! Amazing!
The char kuey teow while delicious, surprised us bc they put clams in it. My 3 kids don’t like clams so i learned to order it without 👌. Lalaport is in Pudu where there are so many kopitiams (Chinese coffee shops) + hawkers centers. The hainan kopi they serve would be much more malay than the lalaport mall coffee you got and it’s strong, delicious and only $1. We looked fwd to coffee in pudu every morn. We also had pork buns, kaya toast w/ soft boiled egg, apam balik (peanut pancake), and pinapple tarts, and char suey mee + curry mee while staying in pudu on different morns, all delicious chinese malay breakfast offerings in hawker centers.. We never went to jalan alor bc it’s designed for tourists, more touristy prices…not where locals eat bc of prices. We also stayed in kampung baru and had some amazing malay foods such as roti canai, nasi lemak, nasi campur, ayam sate, pulut mangaa + manga kerabu. All so delicious. For eg, the pulut mangaa you got (mango sticky rice) was 6 ringgit in kampung baru but i believe you paid $15 myr on jalan alor. So if you go bk, definitely try kampung baru or pudu restaurants + street food. I love malay food + can’t wait to go back!
nice video promoting local street food . more videos like in this in near future . looks tasty and delicious hope to visit there someday and try your country street food .
hi Lucy and George.....i just observed in your video particularly at 11:32 (timestamp of your vid) when you were sitting waiting for your food in Alor st, I think Lucy looks like Scarlet Johannson, Hollywood actress who portrayed the black widow in the avengers... George is a very lucky guy because Lucy is a beautiful woman and at the same time a very good cook, specially her favorite Filipino dish sinigang.... I know that you are in Kuala Lumpur right now, and you are correct that not many British visit Malaysia that frequently, unlike neighbor countries Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, but I assure you that Malaysia is an awesome country.... you can visit the batu caves just outside Kuala Lumpur, you can either get a grab taxi going there or experience riding their regular train, they used token coins instead of a card like in the Philippines.... in batu cave, you will feel the nature at its best because beneath the long colorful stairs there is a temple inside the mountain cave, and you will feel too the culture of the Indians, who have a great influence in the Malaysian culture.... but do mind the monkeys, do not show any food or koda"s stroller, because these monkeys are professional grabbers, I kid you not... just beware OK... in Alor Street food, I usually get chicken satay with peanut sauce, and also the crispy pork fried rice..... you may try it also if you like.. you can visit Malaysia museum too if your time there permits you, have a glimpse of the Malay culture, and cute Koda will enjoy there as well.. see you soon when you get back in BGC taguig... enjoy Malaysia Lucy, George and cute Koda... ❤

Nasi when translated is rice, lemak when translated is fat. However, the word lemak is also used as an adjective to describe creaminess. So the right translation should be creamy rice, as in it is rich and decadent.
I didn’t like it when that street seller just put the toy in your son’s hand. He isn’t Malaysian. So as a Malaysian, I apologize for that incident. Malaysians wouldn’t have done that.
The restaurant you went, more to chinese cousine.. go to kampung baru, to eat Nasi Lemak Wanjo for Malay cousine, and go to Indian street to find Mamak restaurant for indian food like roti canai, nasi kandar..
i think that is quite new in our country people probably from outside give the toys to kids..you can just ignore them.. but of course the kids might cry.. i think our local authorities need to do something about this people
jalan Alor had a lot of maggots that will suck the tourist pocket money so be careful and go high bargain if you both want buy fake accessories like bag, t shirt etc. Also don't wear any jewelry or gold necklace. Another time you both should try Kampong Baru food heaven. Okay enjoy your stay in Malaysia and have fun.
The guy who was selling the toy certainly a foreigner. He does not look like a Malaysian and Malaysians would not do such thing. Try to find nasi lemak in other areas like in Kampung Baru. The place is a chinese area where they sell mainly chinese food.

I recommend you yo meet local and ask them where to eats . I know your currency is bigger than ours . But as local , we dont not support those , sell food expensive than other. Damn man mee goreng Rm15 ? I will get 3 plate of that if you know the right restaurant. Cheap and authentic.
The Koayteow you ate is not as authentic as the Penang Fried Koayteow. Penang Fried Koayteow still the best that you should try when you are visiting Georgetown, Penang.
Penang fried koayteow is Penang fried koayteow. What they had was fried koayteow. There are many ways to fry koayteow. Penang fried koayteow is only one way of cooking koayteow.
As a Malaysian, Jalan Alor is very foreign like I genuinely dont understand why do tourists come to this spot, its very not Malaysian, I mean obviously the people you see around, do they look Malays?
The toys to the kids hand trick is really dumb. I would have not pay a penny to the person since hes the one giving it to the kid. I guess its free then

Go to Kampung Baru in the morning
U must try roti canai nasi lemak at wanjo at kg baru or nasi lemak village at uptown damansara and nasi kandar or nasi kerabu famous at malaysia tq

Do try one of the best place to get your nasi lemak which is at kampung baru .. , Nasi lemak wanjo.
Aaah.. Jalan Alor the tourist rip-off street food market.
Next time you guys want to go to night market, can go to Putrajaya Night market every Tuesday & Friday. a bit far from KL but worth to go
