Frank Zappa=Sarcastic in perfection! RiP for one of our best, brilliantest Komposer and Musician. And that over more than thirty years of fascination.
The original recording is a favorite of mine. This particular piece though requires a certain "swagger" from the musicians to truly pull off. I'm not sure this group quite makes it. Nice effort though!
vivalapsych Not a bad version but not as funky and cool as the original. The feel of the bass here is a little stiff. The chords at 3:55 don't seem to be what was played on the original. But that could be just different volumes of the voicings. Great Zappa piece none the less.
The only thing i really don't get is the piano fill, which sounds like quite a "miss". You're right, the chords at the end do sound a bit different. Overall, still very enjoyable...
That's what I noticed. Not quite there. A bit choppy, less fluid and a different mix. But they all can play better than I ever could. Still enjoyed it.
Spot on Francis, my face made a face at around 1m30sec, the piano fill was bad but like you said, very enjoyable. Viva Zappa
Zappa horns always lay on the sound of slightly reckless in the execution.
Everyone in Frank's band had a slightly untrained grease to them which is a huge charm to stuff like apostrophe, bongo, or Joe's garage.
But frank had the best people at all times so everyone playing this stuff is at a disadvantage.
was thinking the same... thx for the share !
My favorite of all Zappa's instrumentals
What a tune...
Giving me shivers this, well done.
Don't know why but this cover version - by some really FINE musicians - makes me think of Prokofiev's March from 'The Love of Three Oranges.' Like 'Regyptian Strut' here, that tune was kind of a Triumphal March That Does Not Take Itself At All Seriously. Very cool. Miss ya, Frank.
haha interesting you say that , i get the same vibe, to the point where i wonder if Frank is kinda chuckling.
Siete molto bravi e avete un bel sound.
Absolutely perfect...
I loved it but it's not absolutely perfect - but I'm happy people play his music. Amazing composer
Very nice 👍
Ah, when the trombones come in
@FredSpang maybe this is the cover of the original version, where Zappa himself played the drums, and he was no Bozzio ya know?
I approve .
amazing! :))
I think this is the only score written by FZ that doesn’t include a guitar, except the bass.
So are the Bangles an Regyptian?
Good version. And true, that piano player is no George Duke, and the brass section is no Bruce Fowler double-tracked to hell-and-gone - but who is? They're doing OK with the bunch of French classical and fusion musicians they have.
One of my favorite instrumental pieces by Zappa. Always so inspiring to listen to it...
Where can I download these?
Great tune, but that bass player needs more groove.
you should have played in his place
@@Truffone oh come now, it's a perfectly valid criticism.
I agree that it lacks 'swagger' there are some obviously bum notes in the piano part and the bass sounds out of tune.
Zappa also has the best ever song titles
@adamcook6 when you play such intrincate music like this, not even the zaniest of rock musicians would be able to fool around the stage, as it can be seen by Zappa's own band live, they could joke around and have lots of fun, but when it comes to dead serious music playing, they behave like pros.
Very rarely have I seen such bad camera as in this recording. Really cheap
Love this!
Hahaha that cut at the end.
WELL spotted, dear Mr. Uploader
Great piece and I always love to see good covers but is it just me or is this a bit too... deliberate? It feels to me like the tempo is just a fraction slow.
Thomas yeah it’s slow
it is what it is!
