      The Thunderhorse is Skwisgaar's signature silverburst Explorer WITH THES BURST BUCKERS PICKUPS! Moon just neglected to mention that in this video he *also* uses a "snow horse" version of his signature because it's common knowledge at this point.
      There's also a Ghosthorse Explorer out there that goes for 700-800 dollars brand new that's actually still in production, as opposed to the Thunderhorse which was discontinued a while ago and costs 1000-1300 dollars on the resale market because there's nothing quite like an exorbitant markup on a regular old tricked out Epiphone, right?
      And although the snow horse guitar doesn't officially exist, there are *MANY* high end custom builds as well as affordable chibson options out there for budgeted guitarists like me.

      @@gabrielbjornursidae Lets get this straight, any guitarist can play like toki or skisgaar because it's nothing but brendan small, brendan small is talented, but his art tells us he knows he can tap into his inner toki, and his inner skwisgar thus is battling against himself from being an "idiot savant", and a hard worker, who knows there's much better guitarists out there.
      Brendan can't improvise, and that is a ridiculous skill unto itself, if brendan went against guthrie govan in a "guitar solo duel" brendan would be lost without hearing the chord progressions ad nauseum, while guthrie govan can probably improvise any western musical chord progression with no problem. and probably play his songs by just hearing them. But i doubt brendan small could play "wonderful slippery thing" or "Waves" without long practice.
      There's classical guitarists who can hear your music, transcribe it, and play a better melody with one hearing.
      Again this sounds stupid to argue about, because they aren't the best guitarists only in this fictional world of art. And in real life, being the best guitarist sometimes means that you aren't even known by anyone, and sometimes being the better businessman means getting your name out there and people liking your work enough that you move the genre forward, whatever genre it might be. Thus people calling u the next hendrix, or van halen just because you moved the genre forward, every decade has its greatest guitarists and in the mainstream its starting to mean less and less.

    One thing i love most about this is their faces when Toki starts playing. It hasnt even been a few seconds and all hes doing is mimicking Skwisgar on a basic level but the sheer fact that he can even do that is impressive to them since no one else that showed up or possibly even anyone in the world could even stand against Skwisgars playing much less play along.

    Skwisgaar is like a virtuoso with technical skill attained from tons of practice.
    Toki is like the kind of lazy, but extremely talented guitar player that doesn't practice, but has a natural flow whenever he picks one up. This duel is like a good representation of Hard Work vs. Natural talent.

  • @sk8muppet
    @sk8muppet Рік тому +38

    I don't think I'd noticed the storytelling through music theory that's going on here before now.
    The battle starts with a fairly standard opening gambit (a couple of pentatonic licks with some showy sweeping for skwissgar) which toki matches. Skwissgar then tests his opponent with some short licks, Toki responds in kind and begins harmonising with Skwissgar, showing his prowess and compatibilty. Skwissgar becomes more aggressive, using using some fast atonal picking and firing some complex sweeps at Toki; again countered blow for blow which somehow turns them baroque. By this stage they have begun to work together and transcend into the sky accompanied by perfectly synchronised (and relatively complex) harmonised lead lines to showcase their instinctive understanding of each others playing.
    I fucking love this show.
