Adult swim announced planned movie releases for metalocalypse, venture bros, and aqua teen. So long as they don't get another crazy wild hair up their butts, we should actually get some closure here lol
Dude yes! 6:09 Mustakrakish was my favorite! I idk any of the new episodes past like idk, 2003/4 tho so there's gotta be some bangers I ain't heard of yet 🤘🏿
The whole playing lightly thing is the thing I never really got past. As speed and difficulty increased my muscles would always tighten without even thinking about it.
cause good technique is all about efficiency, the type of pick you is a massive part in it too thicker and sharper picks are gonna be louder. that's what I use my Dunlop sharp 1.5mm. usually for shredding cause I like a lot of pick attack, but over the years as I've got better at picking to where I can do Paul Gilbert and Jeff Loomis licks, I had to become efficient so smaller lighter movements. otherwise the James hetfield white fang is the all around best lick. I don't even have calouses anymore cause I don't push the strings any harder than need be. but I play at least an hour a day on a 7 string with 13-80 set of strings in f. which is similar tension to a standard 6 but way bigger strings. it's for that same reason I don't like super low action.
That's natural for most people. It takes a lot of practice before you can relax. Learning Ska really helped loosen up my strumming arm and everything kind of followed after that.
Force yourself to play right up over the neck sometimes when you practice. You'll HAVE to pick lighter or you'll be buzzing out the strings all the time, and you'll learn to not rely on just resting your arm on the guitar's body and digging in with your wrist.
"Go Into the Water" is one of my favorite Dethklok tunes for the same reason. Also "Crush the Industry" in standard sounds like it could be off And Justice For All
Thank you to all the families out there who have endured repetitive musical exercises with minimal complaint for months/years. Thank you to Brendon for all of your creative endeavors. You have enriched my life and made me want to keep picking up my guitar.
Its a damn shame more people dont know Galaktikon, what incredible compositions. I sure hope we get a Galaktikon 3 some day. After the final Metallalocapypse movie of course.

Bro I'm the same. I think there's 1 song I ever learned the whole thing for and that's a parkway drive song. Other then that I love learning the badass riffs in songs.
Yup. Guilty of that too. Right now I'm learning floods from pantera mostly because I learned the outro solo and it was badass. But usually I just learn riffs and then later the song.
@@Sweeptheleg83 same bro. I just love learning specific riffs and playing them. Plus I have bad memory to the point it's very hard to memorize songs in full

that studio looks so legit, unlike the studio of any youtuber filled with purple neon and state of the art gear that really does not produce anything interesting, Brendon is a badass
Thunderhorse started it for me. Before that song I was playing acoustic guitar ocasionally. But when I heard Thunderhorse I suddenly NEEDED to learn it! Since 9-10 years I'm obsessed with e-guitar and practice as much as I can every day. I owe that passion to this man.
The Metalocalypse theme has been my ring tone since a few hours after the first ep aired. (Had to torrent the first ep, rip that part of the audio track to mp3, use a free ring tone site to send it to my phone Cuz it was before you could just select an audio file from your music collection. Pain in the ass really) Go into the water still one of my favorite songs
There's one huge bonus feature though. You know how when you're in a bar or restaurant and a cell phone rings and 20 people start hurriedly digging theirs out to see if it's ringing? I don't have that problem. I've yet to hear another phone with the theme song to Metalocalypse as it's ring tone. I'm sure there are others, though i imagine fewer and fewer every day. But I've never heard another one. Sometimes, when the whole world is circling the drain, it's the littlest of little things we can take a modicum of pleasure in. And sometimes, it's enough.
There has never been a show with such epic music as Dethklok. I love all the riffs and solos. The show is fantastic too but damn! The music blew my mind!

@@_Stroda And they're awesome! Jason's former band. They've got a great sound, too.
God…Sir Brendan, I cannot wait for the next dethklok installment and LITERALLY whatever music you decide to put out moving forward! Please keep rockin bro🤘
That is one heck of a setup he has there!
that epiphone's got my eye xD nice piece
@@ExodusAttacKGR I'm gonna get it eventually. The best part for me is the trem is top mounted so it can't sink down it can (I guess that would be the right way to describe it)
@@jasondickerson2463 Just got mine!
"What are those wooden things, chairs?" still gets me every time. I laughed so hard at that I still remember beer shooting out of my nose.
"grampa's guitars"
I agree Go Into The Water has a Killer! Chord progression. I still go back to thinking about that song even to this day.
same! that melodic riffage is burnt into my head!... live there... die there... 🤟😈
Just seen you and the n Columbus Ohio few months back , I am 50 and been 10 years or so since I seen ya in Columbus , my daughter that went with me is 26 and her and her sister and me watched metalocalypse and she finally got to see the band !! Dragon force was good ,, and nekrogoblikon is a band I never heard till that night !! Thanks for that , and I love your humble style playing on stage the way you black yourselves out and let the cartoon have its time !!
Can't wait for the movie!
Your combo on all tings metal, is refreshing, now & almost 20 years ago.
The fact that you said that you've never learned a full song is the same for me ! I'm 29, been playing since i'm 16 and i never learned a full song....Just obsessed with riffs all the time, the one's you can actually hear...
I'm 38, absolutely love the Galaktikon series and the progressive riffs, it inspired me to get into playing by starting off with a uke.
crazy to think that they ended making the top selling death metal album of all time, it was at the top 10 in the billboard charts when it came out, that's some achievement right there!
Deserved as well
3:30 Indeed, the lighter you pick, the faster and easier you can shred!
Still waiting for another season of Metalocalypse so we can finally see what happens to murderface after he gets poisoned at the end of doomstar requiem. Best. Show. Ever🤘🏻
Same here. I still think it was the cleverest and funniest show ever written, animated or live. I wish they'd bring it back.
Adult swim announced planned movie releases for metalocalypse, venture bros, and aqua teen. So long as they don't get another crazy wild hair up their butts, we should actually get some closure here lol
@@ShawnGamesDrunk holy shit that’s great news! You just made my day
@@willlewis153 my pleasure sir. :)
One of my favourite Dethklok riffs is the chorus riff from Symmetry.
I also really love the chorus riff from Go Into The Water.
That opening riff to Lazer Witch always gives me chills.
The way you played Battery was awesome
He always makes sure to show how a song is played and I respect that.
Cocaine helps
cause good technique is all about efficiency, the type of pick you is a massive part in it too thicker and sharper picks are gonna be louder. that's what I use my Dunlop sharp 1.5mm. usually for shredding cause I like a lot of pick attack, but over the years as I've got better at picking to where I can do Paul Gilbert and Jeff Loomis licks, I had to become efficient so smaller lighter movements. otherwise the James hetfield white fang is the all around best lick. I don't even have calouses anymore cause I don't push the strings any harder than need be. but I play at least an hour a day on a 7 string with 13-80 set of strings in f. which is similar tension to a standard 6 but way bigger strings. it's for that same reason I don't like super low action.
Practice doing a palm muted tremolo as light as possible. It gets easier
Brendan, at this moment, while I watch this video, you remind me of every music store guitarist.
Thank you for the beautiful animation over the years.
"Face Fisted" and "Murmaider" has to be my favorite songs of Dethklok. I have always admired Brendon.
This video changed my life dude thank you so much Brendan 🤘🙌
"Go Into the Water" is one of my favorite Dethklok tunes for the same reason. Also "Crush the Industry" in standard sounds like it could be off And Justice For All
Thank you to all the families out there who have endured repetitive musical exercises with minimal complaint for months/years. Thank you to Brendon for all of your creative endeavors. You have enriched my life and made me want to keep picking up my guitar.
To this day, Crush the Industry is my fav music of his. Thank you.
I am watching you for first time and i can state that among the plethora of videos, you are awesome !
“Don’t stick marbles in your nose! Put them in there! Do not put them in there!”
Don't kill children, don't run 'em over!
Nice Home Movies reference!
Okay, uh, so... so tell me, at what point did you get the urge to stick marbles, uh, in to your nose?
*whispers* Moooom!
@@UnvisibleINK when spikey told me not too
'Go forth and die' is one of my all time favs....such a heavy earworm!!
Its a damn shame more people dont know Galaktikon, what incredible compositions.
I sure hope we get a Galaktikon 3 some day.
After the final Metallalocapypse movie of course.
Your wish has been granted, sir... the Great Reuniting has come!
Man... We're about the same age and I had almost exactly the same experiences. I can also remember "discovering" power cords. Game changer.
No mention of the new Metalocalypse movie?? Can't wait till it comes out. Brendon Small is a metal god \m/
I saw Dethklok live in Houston back in '09 or '10. I was blown away with the presentation. Animated videos to the songs they played, even little facebones interludes. Great mix of great music and comedy animation.
Everyone knows him from Metalopocalypse but noone knows his show home movies, both of his shows and music is amazing, this dudes a badass
He did home movies?
@@SLVGGER-ym9bw The cartoon series home movies yes
I watched home movies growing up. Great show.
Yeah the main character is named after him. One of my favorite shows
He was behind Home Movies?? That’s amazing. I loved that show growing up lol
This guy is amazing!!!! I've seen his name everywhere on adult swim but I never seen the face... finally!!!
Thank you
The Ghost Horse is such a badass color. Gibson should do an Explorer with it
They did, limited run of 400.
Always nice to check in with Brendon every once in a while :)
6:50 almost megadeths "in my darkest hour"
Loved your show man and absolutely loved the music own every album still and look forward to the new movie!
Brendon Small is no joke on guitar! The dude can write some killer riffs!💪🏻🤘🏻😎
Can write AND crack some good jokes can improvise some good moments. Dude’s just all around talented
Hearing one of your heroes say his favorite riffs are the same riffs you love is so cool.. very inspiring. THANKS BRENDON!! You are amazing! 🤘🏼💀🎸
“ I would never play the whole song” ………. Me neither man.. me neither.
Bro I'm the same. I think there's 1 song I ever learned the whole thing for and that's a parkway drive song. Other then that I love learning the badass riffs in songs.
@@Reapersden666 same here. My one song is Snowblind by Sabbath.
I thought i was the only one who didn't learn whole songs. lol
I know your music and ventures, but hearing you talk about your influences and growing up I feel like I know you and we would get along well! Lol thanks to all involved and Brandon of course!
finally they got brendon small on here
Deathharmonic ... one of the most EPIC songs I've ever heard! Hilarious and relatable lyrics and the instrumental arrangement is beyond 🔥
I think it’s mandatory under guitar law that everyone’s first 2 songs to learn on the guitar must be iron man and smoke on the water.
Don't forget Numb from Linkin Park 🤣
Yep. Smoke on the water, iron man, paranoid, and then you dip into a tiny bit of Metallica only to back off and say fuck all that.
The first song I learned to play was beastblade...
AC/DC
It was opeth for me
that studio looks so legit, unlike the studio of any youtuber filled with purple neon and state of the art gear that really does not produce anything interesting, Brendon is a badass
*DO ANYTHING FOR DETHKLOK, DO ANYTHING FOR DETHKLOK*
Doodily ding dong tick tock
*Doodily ding dong tick tock
Thunderhorse started it for me. Before that song I was playing acoustic guitar ocasionally. But when I heard Thunderhorse I suddenly NEEDED to learn it! Since 9-10 years I'm obsessed with e-guitar and practice as much as I can every day. I owe that passion to this man.
The Metalocalypse theme has been my ring tone since a few hours after the first ep aired. (Had to torrent the first ep, rip that part of the audio track to mp3, use a free ring tone site to send it to my phone Cuz it was before you could just select an audio file from your music collection. Pain in the ass really)
Go into the water still one of my favorite songs
that's really wholesome
There's one huge bonus feature though. You know how when you're in a bar or restaurant and a cell phone rings and 20 people start hurriedly digging theirs out to see if it's ringing? I don't have that problem. I've yet to hear another phone with the theme song to Metalocalypse as it's ring tone. I'm sure there are others, though i imagine fewer and fewer every day. But I've never heard another one.
Sometimes, when the whole world is circling the drain, it's the littlest of little things we can take a modicum of pleasure in. And sometimes, it's enough.
Awesome guy! This was brilliant!
Skissgaar:”Moms noooooos!”
Closes eyes 4:42
There has never been a show with such epic music as Dethklok. I love all the riffs and solos. The show is fantastic too but damn! The music blew my mind!
