it's important to remember that the many similarities between Kenyans and Zim people is beyond being colonized by the same people...check our languages, looks, mannerisms, environment, etc . . . don't give all credit to colonialism there is much more that's uniting us . . .

"colonised" is a trigger word. What if you were told that that area was "colonised" before anyone sailed to Africa in a boat. And those colonisers displaced the Khoi-san.

Wow! What a beautiful and spacious country Zimbabwe is. I was looking at the roads that they don't have potholes. I can tell you this is far better than my country Swaziland and puts many countries to shame. I'm sure many South Africans can be amazed to see such beauty, space and cleanliness. Zimbabwe has a bright future only if the country can have good leadership. Now i see Africa is truly rich and blessed. We just have to change our mindsets and desire to make a change for our generations, make them aware that Africa is theirs not to be sold to Europe, Asia or any foreign influence. My fellow Africans, we are truly blessed with this beautiful country. May God bless us all.

It’s poor reputation is absolutely wrong and more tourists should visit Zim.
I fell in love with the country and wish I could live there.
Probably my favourite country and I’ve been to or lived in about 40 in my life.
I made genuine friends who I got to know well in the time I spent in their community.
I was fortunate enough to spend a few days in a traditional village an hour north of Harare with my friend, his wife and children.
I followed their example and lived the traditional way.
Never have I learned so much.
They really treated me like part of the family and the entire community made me feel more accepted than I ever have felt in my life.
The rest of the time I spent in Harare, Bulawayo and Vic Falls.
Spent a month there in 2019.
If I had believed the western media I probably wouldn’t have gone there.
People don’t know what they’re missing if they never see Zimbabwe.
There’s just an intangible beauty to Zimbabwe, the landscape, the jacarandas, the soul.
Despite the hardships and injustice of the past, the locals buzz with positive uplifting energy and its infectious.
Life is richer and more real.
Less fake and sanitized.
More visceral.
I felt at peace.
The colours are more vivid and people more grounded than in the sanitised and materialistic west.
Victoria Falls penetrated me like nothing else but there’s so much more to Zimbabwe than that.
I enjoyed eating saizda (the staple meal) the traditional way and the unique local beer went down well.
Its my dream to buy a house and set up a free school in Harare for the kids who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity to fulfil their potential.
It’s something good I can do, a small difference I can make.
I just don’t know how I could get that kind of money.
That’s been my dream since I left Zimbabwe in 2019.
Time will tell if I ever fulfil my ambition.
I’m not sure if my wife is willing to move there even if we can afford it.
I want her to absorb the country with me.
Sometimes you just know where you’re meant to be and for me it’s Zimbabwe,

The locals in Zimbabwe the friendliest most accepting people of all the countries I have visited.
If you show respect for the country and the culture and want to learn they will embrace you as one of their own.
I wish I had a chance to stay longer than a month and hope to go back one day.

You are correct. I have been to Maseru in Lesotho (Thetsane West - Lesia) for instance. It is a joke. Million Dollar houses surrounded by shacks and cheap concrete one room structures. The children from those shacks 'literally' shit all over the higher income neighbourhoods. They hide in the bushes and poop and do drugs there. The city planner/urban planning office should all be fired and the government under who this happened should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Africans don't always needs Europeans and Chinese to make a messy, sometimes all it takes is our own laziness and stupidity.
One thing though I agree, Zim is safe. Minimal criminal activity, maybe non existent!

Zimbabwe has always been a beautiful country. Towns & cities were well designed but Zimbabweans still build better even today. I wish you had also seen a pre sanctions Zimbabwe which those of us from neighbouring countries admired. That was when we called Harare as a mini London in Africa.

Thank you for showing us some parts of Zimbabwe. I just want to remind people not to be shallow minded. This is part of Harare in the Capital city hence the land is expensive. There are other places which are cheaper and beautiful just the same as the once you have seen in provinces like Gweru, Masvingo, Mutare, Bulawayo etc. That was just a tip of an iceberg in a good way.

The scenery is absolutely beautiful
Old Borrowdale is the best 😀. These new houses which are being built now look like Lagos mansions, tacky if l may say. Colonial bungalows are 👌👌. Pomona is not new, it has always been there from way back.
Same here. Totally agree. Love the olden style. Even the colonial style homes and buildings in Zim with the wooden windows and shutters look so sleek and majestic. These new houses look kinda tacky inside and out.

This is so beautifully presented and I thank both you and Mr Zim. It has provided me with so much thought and I need to write this down. Harari is in two parts, the part you presented... and the other Harari. This is as it has always been except fifty years ago Borrowdale, Mt Pleasant etc were colonials living exactly like the Zimbabweans are living now. High walls, beautiful gardens, tidy protected streets, big houses. Do you understand what I am saying... ??

What we are not told is that this is where all the politicians stay. Borrowdale is the best suburb in Zimbabwe, and home to Cde Mugabe and his cronies, and Mt Pleasant and Mt Pleasant Heights are the best suburbs in Harare. Most of the country is poor so the difference between the rich and poor is incredibly stark because there is no middle class - they were wiped out during the hyperinflation years. So when we watch this, bear in mind that less than 1% of the population has this life. Having been to Nairobi, the case is similar. It is a pattern I have seen throughout Africa.
True but Zim has many neighborhoods. High and low density to cater for all incomes but most Zimbabweans actually live in their own houses. There are no shanty towns in Zim. The biggest problem is running water, sanitation and electricity bc of corruption and rotting infrusture.
African stories told by Africans. This is new to some people out there.
I remember all the old areas of Harare. I left 1988 but it still is as beautiful as ever

Some houses are beautiful.There seems to be a a common feature of these neighbourhoods…and that is the ABSENCE of street lights !!!!
True! they use tower lights instead, one light can cover a large area and they space them around communities.

I was hoping you'd take her to the Brooke and show some popular landmarks in each suburb such as Sam Levi village and UZ etc and a history of the suburbs but great job to both of you. Was telling someone it’s hard to tell apart a Zimbabwean and a Kenyan just from their speech. Our accents are very similar. Also the buildings in Harare, resemble alot those in Nairobi. We have so much in common that we need to dig deeper
As a Zimbabwean I can easily tell Kenyans apart from Zimbabweans by looking at them and the accents are very different
Oh but the accents are distinctly different. I can tell one is Kenyan in a hearbeat just by their accent. We resemble each other in a lot of things but the accent
We don't have similar accents. When a Kenyan is talking you can definitely tell which isn't a bad thing by the way. Kenyans and Ugandans yeah u sound the same but not with us Zimbabweans.
I think u were trying to say the language's are similar but not accents because you're in East Africa and we're Southern so there's no way in heaven we're going to have similar accents.
We are bantu brothers, we can understand words as you speak
