They may not go down as the greatest metal band ever but they will go down as the greatest live metal band ever. They constantly win best live show. Great reaction! You would both love Weisses Fleisch live and the Deutschland video. Probably the best music video I’ve ever seen.

The "greatest metal band ever" is really a personal opinion, there's no single criteria which defines it the same way to everyone. So to me and so many others Rammstein is definitely one of the greatest metal band ever. Obviously I cannot say "the greatest" as there are several which are absolutely amazing, but "one of the greatest" - easily.
Ever means there IS no future I presume?
Germans marching in Paris and celebrated by the crowd, I just love their show there because of the history between these nations
I've seen this kind of comment many times. The division between Germany and the rest of Europe has been healed many times over, we are brothers and sisters now...
I think what resonates most in this song, besides it's obvious boisterous musical accompaniment, is the unequivocal message from this song that Rammstein is not a far-right band. They declare, literally, that their heart beats on the left, a phrase with historical leftist connotations.
Our past divisions are artificial, we stand together across nations and history for a greater good. The good of all mankind. The good of every individual.
That Rammstein is German, and the venue is French, and the audience is vastly multicultural and multinational, only strengthens that message...
But it is not as significant as most claim it to be, it is in fact entirely insignificant, and mostly incidental, which is the point...
Or, possibly, it is the message, and it represents success that it is so...

It's bullshit anyway. "Right-wing" in a political way describes the support of different classes and that certain people have different value for the society.
The nazis were more the totalitarian middle with some left-wing and some right-wing ideals.
For example; They opposed the monarchy and nobility in germany while supporting the "common man" but at the same time they had very racist thoughts about different ethnicities.
On the other hand, again, they supported animal and women rights.
So overall it's, unfortunately, not as simple as we always imagine.
The political spectrum is more like a xy diagram and not a simple left & right-thing.
But i guess Rammstein wanted to send a message that people understand.
And it's doing it's job just fine. Rammstein neither is totalitarian (or supporting it) nor right-wing.

The chorus "Links 2 3 4" is derived from a typical military marching rhythm. It literally is the count to have everybody start off marching on the left foot, then counting up simultaneous steps in a marching company of soldiers.
Thus it was intentionally used by the band to insinuate the typical associations of Germany's army, the bad rep Germany had with the Nazi army, then the claims of uninformed reporters' stating the band to being right-wing, or even Neo-Nazis due to Till's extreme pronunciation (which are typically associated with many Nazi speakers).
The band then countermanded those claims with the lyrics that clearly state that 'the bands' hearts beats to the left'.
That "everyone wants their hearts in the 'right spot'" but when they look down they see it beating to the left.
Like so many other Rammstein songs this one also intentionally creates ambiguity between rhythm, tempo, style, and lyrics to spark conversation about possible meanings.
Rammstein themselves rarely if ever clarify what they intended with a song.
BTW: in their official video to this song they displayed a whole nest of peaceful ants living their daily lives (watching TV, hanging out with their buddy ants, etc), being invaded by three large bugs. At first the bugs seriously trounced the ants. The ants then united, and marched out to beat back the bugs by taking on military tacticts and swarming the bugs in a concentrated attack.
In the final second of the video you can see a right hand attached to an arm, lying limp on the ground, obviously dead, also being swarmed by ants.
"Links, 2, 3, 4" is also an allusion to the Einheitsfrontlied.
The director for this concert movie is Jonas Åkerlund. He's been making movies and music videos for artists like Metallica to Madonna.
And more importantly, he directed the video for Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy.
This wasn’t the opener. This was one of those deals where they just disappeared from the stage midset to intro this song.
On their tour last year though, they would play this song 2nd. Really gets the crowd going

Holy... evidence of how long this year has been: Started to really think of how long ago 2019 actually was.
The thing is, if they really were a Nazi band, they never would have that big international success. Of course there are right wing rock bands in germany, but mostly on indy labels, a lot of their albums are indexed or forbidden. Rammstein never made political songs until "Links 2, 3, 4" and they did that one only because they were tired about being accused to be Nazis. They were liberal/left punks in former eastern germany, even before Rammstein was formed as a group. It happened a couple of times that fans made the Hitler salute towards them at international concerts. And Till freaks out when someone does it. This would never happen in germany, because it's forbidden by the law here. Their latest album was finally quite political, with a lot of critique on germans political history and patriotism.

Funny thing is this song looks so martial, marching like nazees, with the lyrics saying the opposite. Till loves contrasts and inversions, and this is a perfect example. The are so much better than people give then credit for... except us, of course!

Rammstein is the greatest live band ever, their live shows is so freaking awesome. Hard for any act to out stage them. First time for me seeing them live was at Hultsfred festival 1997. Will always remember that show.
1997 Bizarre Festival Germany. Just raw that show, most of the audience didnt know them much. They were blown away after 3 songs :)

It takes balls of steel to play such a militaristic sounding song to people, who most likely don´t speak german and understand the subtext in German in Paris of all places^^
It’s (for lack of better word) funny that a bit of cheering/crowd noises and German lyrics can make a song sound like a Nazi rallying cry…another easy example is TOOL’s “Die Eire Von Satan”

Overall the 'joke' of the song. Rammstein and fands were blamed to be right wing, since they "sound" like that, but of course that's a stupid remark. You aren't right wing (or left wing) because you talk (or sing) a certain way.
Fun fact: Rammstein has no bad songs. They're all bangers. Which is unlike every other band imaginable on Earth.

For my taste the best Live Concert & DVD was the "Völkerball live in Nimes". I allways wonder why you just take Paris all the time.....but great reactions!

That is wrong, the opening song for the tour was Sonne. Rammlied was the opening song for the lifad tour (2009-2011)

The intro for this tour was unbelievable. You need to watch it, followed by Sonne. There's a multicam of numerous gigs on this tour. The Manchester MEN Arena concert multicam by Nightwolf (I think the channel is called Seid Bereit) is a good one

My opinion is that Rammstein is not only a talented group of musicians. I think they have very much influenced the heavy sound itself. When they released their first albums the degree of tightness and heavyness was innovative. I remember myself thinking - wow! noone sounds like them, this is next level of heavy sound and riffing approach. And only in several years after i saw that many other groups have achieved this studio sound. So i truly believe that Rammstein is one of the "pioneers" type formations who are much bigger then a simple group. They are an inspiration.

I saw their stadium tour 2019 in Berlin. You cannot imagine how that feels. I went to a lot of concerts in my life, but that show topped everything I've ever seen before.

The whole Paris film (it was cinema released) is on DVD and Blu Ray, the first song is Sonne. Some of their entrances are amazing, at the O2 in London (on You Tube), it takes them 5 minutes just to get to the stage!

Rammstein is best. You need to watch them live. I think it was planned that they toured in 2020 in the US. I think now it is 2021. I saw them 2019 in vienna at there europe tour. Best concert EVER!!

on the 2019 tour the intro song was "was ich liebe" (what i love) from the new album.
this is one of the older songs of rammsein regularly performed on stage.
the song was a reaction to the rumors in the 90s that the band was pandering right wingers/ neo nazis or were neo nazis, due to their martial shows and demeaner on stage.
the lyrics of the track (more or less) translated:

Btw, if you are going to watch them live, bring earplugs ffs. They play extremely loud, and also bring your fire proof clothes. I have watched them 1 time live. Best metal band on the planet!!

When I was at the Rammstein concert in Stuttgart, the album tour mother, all the band members were born out of a uterus at the beginning.
I wanna say this song was their opening when it first was released, but I could be wrong. I do remember watching Volkerball from a while ago when Flake, the keyboardist, would actually use a massive Accordion during this song

And after 25 plus years they can still sell out stadiums... multiple nights at a time, all by their lonesome. The biggest and best Stage show on the planet and that's why they get the big bucks. On the floor upfront run you close to five grand when I went to get tickets for San Antonio 2020 show... But that damn covid
I am pretty sure Rammstein opens all their concerts with "Ramm4" which is basically just a list of their song titels but they made a own song out of it :D just Rammstein things! Btw it is a great song on its own so be sure to chek it out!
It varies from tour to tour. When I saw them in 2015 it was Sonne. in MSG it was Rammlied.
