    I used to go to the Nebraska State Museum on my days off all the time. I lived 2 blocks away from the Roller Skate Museum.

    The observation deck of the state capitol building is also a great place to launch paper airplanes from. You have to squeeze them through a wire mesh grate, but after that they go forever!

    EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE LIVING? I think not. Taxes are outrageous and the cost of housing is insane (unless you come from the coasts, then you’ll think it’s cheap).

    The roller skating museum is, without a doubt, the QUIETEST place on Earth! With a few office workers in an adjacent room, it's almost like you won't want to speak in anything louder than a whisper so as not to bother them. 😎

    Well this is a turn around from the other video you gave about Lincoln Nebraska. This is better but I don't know where you got some of the photos because they were wrong...at least you tried... You forgot to mention the football Team and the football Stadium... it is a place to visit and take a tour... Now it seems like you still have your head up your butt if this was put up a year ago and the other was put-up 8 months ago... what the hell happened?

      Even you missed one Jim. There is also the American Quilting Museum. They have quilts of every kind and quilts going back to the early 1800's. Not even the Smithsonian has the number or variety of quilts as the the Quilting Museum has. It is somewhat of a well kept secret so I don't blame you for not knowing.
      Also, there is the Germans from Russia museum. I guess a lot of our museums fill a niche and are rather esoteric.
      Don't forget the Sheldon Art Museum. There is a surprising amount of excellent art there, including a few by the Dutch Masters (Rembrandt, Duer, Tichian, Giato and others). most of the best national loan displays go through there at one point or another.
      I guess we can't really claim the SAC Air and Space museum since it's halfway between Lincoln and Omaha. This side of the Platte River though, so closer to Lincoln than Omaha by a few miles. It takes about twenty-five minutes to get there from my house just south of the Lincoln Country Club. At that same exit is the Wildlife Safari Park, and a really great state park.
      There's a little bit for just about every taste here, and if you don't see something that suits your tastes, then you're missing a bet by not working on building a museum to fit that niche. I think that the LIncoln Chamber of Commerce would serve us better if they'd put together a brochure of all the museums and art galleries we have here, put them in every motel and hotel room in the city, make them available to the public, and have them online.
      Maybe a few of us should put our heads together and make a video about all the things there are to do and see in Lincoln. Lincoln has always been a great place to live, and its continuing to build on that tradition. I hope it never quits doing so. If it does, it will continue to be a great place to live well after we start pushing up daisies with our toes.

      @@Chompchompyerded I have wanted to start up a city tour business when I retired. I researched and worked out a plan. But now with cost of gas and insurance plus other uncontrolled expenses the price I would have to charge would be high. So I give tours at the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed. The good thing is the city keeps evolving.

    • @Chompchompyerded
      @Chompchompyerded Рік тому +1

      @@TalkBookMan Definitely agree. Yes, it has been difficult. I've been watching my own retirement money buy a lot less than it used to. I've been keeping myself busy by giving violin and viola lessons for kids. I don't charge much for my time, and if the student is motivated or is unable to afford them, I do it without charge.
      I still have plenty of time though, and was hoping that I'd be able to find a way to make more of difference in our community. I would have loved to volunteer some time helping behind the scenes to do something such as you described. Perhaps we will find our way out of the current economic straights soon enough to make those dreams come true. Expect the best, prepare for the worst, as the saying goes.I'm getting up there in years, and I have a significant disability, but I won't give up on my city or my dreams until I'm dead and buried, and even then I might give them a run for my money. Keep your dobber up. We're not dead yet.

    is Lincoln a liberal city?

    • @tiandao8503
      @tiandao8503 Рік тому +1

      Yes and no. It's a very red state. Lincoln is a little blue dot within it. You can find like minded people, but you'll have to spend a lot of time looking for it. There's liberal restaurants , bookstores, and educational institutions, but finding them can be tricky.
