Just brilliant! Have you ever thought about talking to a certain company to see if they might be interested in commissioning an "Overland Special" somewhere in the world with you and Gwen? These are so good. I could watch these adventures for hours.
Hi Andrew hi Gwen. Well oh it’s so fantastic this episode. Oh I am a Gypsy as well lol I absolutely love it. Will down load the show. Thank you and what nice people are with you. Cheers John from Gold Coast
I.ve been living in Mongolia for 2 years now and been overlanding every summer for about 8 weeks. It's my favorite country to do so by far. Above Australia for me personally. I hope you are going to other parts of the country than the Gobi desert which is in a way the main tourist trap of Mongolia. That doesn't mean it's bad, but the experience in other parts of the country is very different. Gobi is geared towards tourism, other parts aren't (except of Khakhorin). But, I must say it's a very good destination as an introduction to Mongolia. But, if you do come for another trip, much more preperation would be required. You will have to be more self sufficient. Be able to get yourself out of tricky situations. Choice of tyres for example (mud and grass will be your enemy, but often you get AT tyres), having enough water and fuel. Things like that. Anyways, that is a different topic for your next trip. I haven't watched the video yet, as my wife also wants to see this. Thank you for visiting this country.
I've been to Mongolia several times and can attest, Priuses are all over the place. Have seen them on roads where I never would have taken them! The Russian UAX buses/cars are all over the place too, fun, but not that comfortable. Lexus GX are used by many touring companies. Thank you for sharing your adventure! Great to see you in Mongolia!
I've been following you for a while now. If i'd knew you're arriving to Mongolia and will be staying like 5 mins from me, i'd have come and see you guys. Good video as always.
Omg this video (and series) is amazing!! I’ve been especially excited for it as a 4runner owner myself. I wish I could ship my truck around the world and do these types of adventures Can’t wait for the whole series !!!
What perfect timing... We are traveling in our troppy through Mongolia atm, left white stuppa 2 days ago and camping at Yolyn Am until tmrw (surprised we got internet even here)...
I heard from a motorcycle world traveler that Toyota has a factory in Mongolia where they build the Prius. They took note of the juxtaposition of culture, and tradition mixed with modern technology. In other words, it was quite common to drive past these nomadic camps where you were likely to see a Yurt with a satellite dish mounted, and a Prius parked alongside. Mongolia really is a beautiful place. It is telling, about the people, that their country is sandwiched between two countries, Russia, and China, both with very strong cultural identities and a penchant towards forcible assimilation of their neighbors, and yet the Mongolian people have retained their own unique cultural identity.
No, there is no Prius factory in Mongolia. In fact, there is barely any manufacturing taking place at all. Definitely no High Tech. However, I can see how your friend may have been confused in thinking so. Almost every other car is a Prius. Maybe 95%. The rest is Land Cruiser and then 1% other. Unfortunately many Priuses are from the Japanese 2nd hand market. Meaning, the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Therefore 70% of accidents are caused by these cars.
I trekked in Mongolia nearly 20 years ago, having never been going of the other countries you mentioned as having overlanded in, Mongolia will not dissapoint.
Andrew, and Gwen in Mongolia, what an epic adventure to watch on a Saturday evening with dinner, this is a country i would love to visit someday myself, Andrew you certainly are a gifted story teller and videographer, it is all on point and a little chuckle that Paul Marsh is jealous of your trip to Mongolia, vast open plains sounds like what North America was like almost 200 years ago, to live as your previous generations have is a blessing in its own way, you don't lose your culture like so many have in this world, Gwen the little gypsy at heart and home right now, awesome to see that your fulfilling a place on your bucket list Andrew, this series on Mongolia is going to be special in many different ways, exciting ❤
Love the editing boet - I really like Mongolian music too. The throat singing kind. I sing to my wife in my sleep like that every night. But seriously I have always wanted to go there. It liooks like miles of nothingness, but that appeals to me. Big sky country.
Epic adventure ASPW! You always have such great composition in your establishing shots. Nice to see a 4Runner being used as an overland rig. The 4th gen 4Runner is the same as the Lexus GX you used in Oregon. I should probably start using my TRD Pro as an overland instead of a daily driver.
Wauw is the word A non fenced country its clear you both dont have to do anny efford to show that your enjoying the unknown, Wonderful However i do miss some trees 😊 👌👍
We visited Mongolia in Oct 2022, spent 8 days on horseback in the Gorkhi Terelj national park, just outside UB. (The original thought was to overland in a truck, but then we discovered the opportunity to ride Mongolian horses and were smitten). But we also saw lots of Priuses. Just like Australia and NZ, Mongolia takes advantage of the strong export market of older second hand cars from Japan. They like Priuses because there is basically zero tax on imported hybrids. So all of the Priuses you saw were Japan-market RHD, despite Mongolia being a LHD country.
I know he has done videos in the US. But i dont think ive ever seen any where he expressed his opinions on base Vehicles avaialbe in the US and which ones he actually likes. There just arent any suvs solid axle 4x4s with diesel engines that aren't Excursion sized.
Rofl.. When you said you might get lucky tonight, and Gwynn laughed.. I wonder? Honestly, I have never seen one of your vlogs, where Gwynn was so engrossed by another culture, she is like a child in a lolly shop mate. Gwynn is keen to try words in Mongolian, and keen to try the different foods. Can't wait to see the rest of this trip ASPW Well done mate. Will you go back again, if the opportunity arises? ... Russian Luaz vehicles go anywhere Andrew. You should get one mate, do a review on it. Safe journeys, take care, stay safe. PS. Gwynn is AWESOME! 😉
17'59: Gwen smells the wood smoke.... on the steppe in 'Nullabor" Mongolia.... Where does the wood come from, right? Or did she miss read the autocue and should have said "poop smoke"?? (because that is what they use a fuel). Just making fun of you because I'm jealous for not being in Mongolia (long term item on my bucket list). Happy travels!!
Can u please tell the difference between lexus gx470 and the 5th gen 4runner? Which one do you like more? You are greatest expert of all time thank you!
The full feature documentary is available in 4K here: vimeo.com/ondemand/gobigrail Comment below if you enjoyed the show!
One of the most underrated channels on the subjects on UA-cam.
Amazing. Come to Kazakhstan. Twice the land area and twice as many epic nature spots!
☑️☑️☑️👍🏼

Gwen is your secret weapon! This might be your best content yet. Can't wait for more!
She is gorgeous isn't she?!
Exactly. Gwynne needs a medal 🎉🎉

Ha… horsemilk very delishes
Best from a drum and warm….
Love it ❤
Awesome.
The 4wd buses were nicknamed bread loafs in Kyrgyzstan. Very similar terrain…maybe a bit more mountainous.
Epic… 🎉you both seem very happy 😊enjoy

Mongolia. wow! Wish there were more vast unfenced places like this. Freedom
Bloody awesome, good to see something different.
Prius lol
Rightly said, adventurous adventure ❤

Awesome!
In a way, this could be the best advertisement ever for the Toyota Prius.
You two are lucky a life full of adventures
That looks like an incredible trip!
As a Prado 150 owner, I can’t help but think the 4Runner is like the American Prado lol
Really, really good.
WOW!
I love this drive you’re doing, I absolutly love it.
Talk about humour…and all the Priuses lol
Love the editing boet - I really like Mongolian music too. The throat singing kind. I sing to my wife in my sleep like that every night. But seriously I have always wanted to go there. It liooks like miles of nothingness, but that appeals to me. Big sky country.
Music was perfect

Well here in Mongolia Prius is a popular choice for an overland vehicle, so 4runner would do just fine lol
Really love this. Great exploration. 🎉
It's great to see you with a new Zealand hat on good advertising for NewZealand thanks you too
Gooodigoodi👍👍

👌👍
Wow!, what a great start to a trip somewhere that you are not familiar with. Enjoy.
Fortuner meets Forunner… this wind has me grabbing my down jacket. What time of year would you advise to visit this area?
I just spent 3 weeks driving a tacoma around the desert of USA.. Now I have to tell myself to drive on the left
Those mostly Japan Prius imports are excise tax free & low milage!
Fingers crossed we borrowed one of those Russian UAZ-452 vans in this series!
Toyota should pay you for the PR you did for the Prius, now we know it's an offroad car as well and can handle gravel and dirt roads.

Can u please tell the difference between lexus gx470 and the 5th gen 4runner? Which one do you like more? You are greatest expert of all time thank you!
Wow good trip next time come to Laos for real mud track and beautifull poeple😊
What was he doing with that burner?? Boiling the water, Andrew!
I know! It was a joke.
@@4xoverland Ha! Ok, I thought you'd lost the plot for a while there 😅
Looked like you were eating goat pellets there Andrew 😂
I see a fence and a tree :p on approach to the city
Loved the video. I think if they put chairs outside they would end up in Russia or China.
Different.
