Man, you are a hero!! I have tried everything with no success!! I was about to throw the TV in the garbage, but I gave it this last shot...and it worked flawless!! Awesome job!!
I also solved the problem, you are a genius and I thank you infinitely. The world will be truly free when tricks like this will be included in user manuals.
I have a 42 inch tv that has been standing outside for a couple of weeks coz it suddenly stopped showing the picture, so I was gonna throw it away. But then I saw your video and thought I might aswell give it a try. My tv is a lot more complicatet that the one you showed, but I could still use the same principals as you showed, so I was still able to narrow down where the problem was.... AND IT WORKED 😀 Thank you so much for this helpful information 😊
This actually worked. Bad design on LG's part. It's obviously a common problem, and the TV should be able to identify the shorted pin and exclude it as a fail safe instead of just shutting down the whole signal. Most people won't try to fix this and will junk a perfectly good TV. Once I found the problem area I had to do a REALLY small piece of tape or else it blocked too much of the signal and I could see lines on the screen. Got it working and it looks great. Thank you!
Hi, I watched your video and almost narrow down the problem.. it is similar as per your video.. if I replace the display board will help to resolve the problem?..
Managed to fix it. Covered 2 pins and all is good but there is another issue..... Half of the screen is slightly darker and u can see that screen is gently flashing. Thats normal effects? Or maybe i coverde wrong pins. Thanks for any help. Regards
That slightly dark and a little flashing could happen on some tvs and some model of tvs. Since different tvs have different designs so the pins that are shorted or has the problem has different functions and adjacent pins closest to it. That slight datk and flashing after effects are normal in some situations because we are blocking signals that are supposed to reach the LCD panel. There is 50 to 60 percent chance that everything will work perfect if we block connections going to the panel. Assuming that you covered only the pins that are needed to cover.
Thanks a million for this solution. One third of the screen is now visible. What is that cable called? Can it be replace rather than masking some parts of the pin?.
Nope, you cannot just replace the cable because the problem is in the LCD panel itself. What we can do is just block the connection that is going to that defective portion of the LCD panel that is why we cover some pins.
Hello and thank you for your help with this nice video tutorial about problem with LG TV's. But it's possible to open and repair LCD electronic part inside display itself?
We cannot just replace the cable because the real problem is in the LCD panel itself. What we can do is just block some connections going to the lcd panel.
Good job! You are so easy to open the back cover after removing all the screws! I am also using a LG43"tv of model 43UM7400, but I found it very difficulty to open the back cover at the place near the light senser (it seems that there is screwed) could you please show me at this point?
Hi there, you just have to pry it with a little bit of force. Dont be afraid to apply some force just dont overdo it because you might damage the buffer board
This trick worked only half for me. My tv screen’s left side got only half fixed, the other half is still blank, that too when i narrowed down to just 2 pins that are faulty, its so very difficult to cut tape of that small length and apply it. What should i do now?
Thanks bro. Mine works though half of the screen where the issue is coming from is a bit dark(noticeable when movie lighting is bright) but a side from this, no other issues. I might have covered the good pins which you mentioned.
When I disconnect one side at a time on mine, I still don't get the 1/2 picture you had just a plain black screen. Do you think this repair method still might work on mine? Also is there any way to test the main board to know for sure if the problem is the board or the LCD panel? Thanks
Thank you very² much... Bro... Using this video i fix/repair my LG Tv Web os, the problem is just the same i do the same practice like you did. And now the TV is working well like before.
Thanks brother.. i tried this to my LG tv.. that works.. that cable was problem..before this, i sent my tv to workshop.. they told to me that i need to change my tv because of screen problem.. 😂
Hi bro , it worked for my toshiba tv , how to permanently get this repaired . There are some horizontal lines on the tv but from far it’s not that visible
Work for mine, but the location is in the middle. But i got new problem, now i got black screen in the middle, i think it is the tape location. Do you have any advice.
If you still have lots of pins covered by tape it could cause that black vertical strip. Narrow your tape to the minimum. Also it could be a bad COF IC that is causing that problem. It could also be that the vertical strip is the original problem which is a result from either a bad COF or LCD panel and since you covered the connection going to it with tape, now the TV shows picture and at the same time it shows the problem itself.
My lg 49u has the same problem right now which is black screen, sometimes the LG logo will appear and immediately fade. Can i replace the whole flex or ribbon?😊
Hi, I think Your specific problem is different from this. And I cannot recommend anything if I haven't tested the TV myself. This TV I fixed dont show the Logo at all times
@@jayredd5614 I cannot really tell what is the problem unless I tested your particular TV. But here are some guesses that could be the culprit; 1. Leaky LCD SCreen/ Buffer Boards 2. Main Board Problem / Solder problem in the BGA ICs. 3. Leaky LED in Backlight Strips 4. PSU Unit 5. Loose Ribbon Cables. So as we can see it is really hard to say what is the problem if the TV is not thoroughly tested.
Yes it matters, The tape must not be very thick like the e-tape. You can use a good quality masking tape on this one. Dont also use a tape that has too much adhesive because it could possibly make some distortions on the video signal.
Make sure that it's the right wire it says left wire or right wire it says it on the wire those wires controls the left or right side of the screen what you look at on the screen
Unfortunatelly the repair works for a couple of months, Id recommend u guys to take the tv to a shop to have the capacitors check on the panels he says to not mess with them
@@atanbajan Thank you so much for the quick reply and the note about the issue with the LCD Panel. I've also seen people bake the main board in the oven at 385 F for 10 minutes but this is not likely going to fix my issue either. I was hoping that the short would be in the main board. Okay, I will try the taping method. Thank you for posting this video.
@@merlin3921 thank you, I am pertaining to this particular tv model and problem though. Black screen can also be caused by the Main Board but if you follow the process in this video you will have an idea if it is the main board or the panel that has gone bad. Obvious signs of main board problem is that it wont respond to your remote controller and backlight will not turn on when you press the power on button.
@@atanbajan Hi Atan, I just tried disconnecting each ribbon cable and the whole screen is still "black" (dark grey) regardless which one I take out. Should I cover pins on both of them?
@@atanbajan The back light does come on when I push the power button. I don't hear any sound. It's just a blank dark "black" image. So this could be a main board problem?
Hi guys I have a problem with my old LG, the red light if I switch it on, because on but the screen remains black, I have been trying to take out the plug again and again but still the screen it off
If the original problem was the backlight assuming that all other parts are good. And you replaced the backlight strips with new ones. And it did not work after replacing backlights, the problem could be the new installed backlight is defective due to a bad single LED or a broken voltage path.
Im sorry to hear that. We cannot really make it work on some tv models and brands because of so many factors like the design of the circuit and the very electronic component that is causing the problem.
Man, you are a hero!! I have tried everything with no success!! I was about to throw the TV in the garbage, but I gave it this last shot...and it worked flawless!! Awesome job!!

How long do you think is going to work, after this "repairation"? Should I put some money for another TV in the short future?
It depends on the tv model. Some could last for a very long time some won't.

If I replace the main board with a working one will that solve the problem? Or is the short not on the main board?
