    I used to work in CAD drafting, and it was an amazing help when I upgraded from a standard mouse to a Logitech MX800 with its mappable extra buttons. But that mouse was both ergonomic, and supported with great drivers. All the same, someone had to pioneer the idea. Hats off to Power Mouse for failingly plowing the ground for others to follow and improve.

The thing that cracked me up the most about this one was the way at the end that you referred to the Octo-mouse or whatever it's called as "This THING...." which kind of reminded me of the Detention Center scene from Star Wars, as in "Where are you going with this.... THING." Yes I'm that much of a nerd. Anyways, Keep On Rockin in the Free World brother! Your videos are awesome!

    This sort of thing is actually really useful for some very specific things, like "digitizing" as the catalog mentions. I worked for a mapping company, and a huge chunk of what we did was digitizing (basically tracing satellite images), so you would spend most of your work week literally doing that. In that case, it was super useful to have the functions on the mouse ( to change the type of line, for example) rather than on keyboard, since you had to do it a thousand times a day. In our case, we used gaming mice, but the idea is the same.

    • @JohnDoe-qx3zs
      @JohnDoe-qx3zs 7 років тому +10

      +Sybrand Botes Y2K38 is the usual name. Exact end is 65536*65536-1 GMT seconds after Jan 1,1970 as it wraps around to that many seconds before Dec 31,1969. Some programs switched to a 64 bit clock, which should cover the history of planet Earth from creation to destruction.

    • @plasmaoctopus1728

      I never understood why time had an impact on device's programming, like why was y2k a thing, and why is y2k38 a thing?

    • @joonasfi
      @joonasfi 6 років тому +4

      Plasma Octopus computers cannot handle infinitely large numbers in hardware (in software they can but it's much slower). Current computers handle 64 bit numbers. Maximum is 2^64. Older ones handled 32 bit numbers and so on. Y2K38 is where bugs arise when timestamps are stored with 32 bits. Y2K was because some lazy coders stored year with two numbers, resulting in ambiquity after year 99 ( =1999). Should year 00 be 1900 or 2000?
