Well done on your improvements to RR Gresley Teaks. I have done some previously using a cedar stain over the pale teak. If I may say the seats should be red for 3rd class and blue for 1st.
I've only detailed the interior of my rake of 7. I used humbrol 29 dark earth for the wood interior walls and the inside of the outer shell, can't remember what I painted the seats or the floors but I didn't use grey, and I made the first class seats a different colour to the third class ones. I also used an enamel white to pick out the tyres of the wheels. These two videos have tempted me to attempt to darken the side colours, although I'll be using a dark orange to tone it down, and I'll probably paint the solebars in a colour that matches the ones on my super detailed one. Your attempt looks really good once reassembled. Have to say, I wasn't convinced after the first video, but once its all together it is better.
That turned out very nice indeed. I can just remember corridor coaches, before of all the 'open plan' nonsense. I much prefer the old way. You could avoid the nutters completely, so long as they weren't in with you in your little compartment, and look around freely, without the fear of catching anyone's eye.
Good work. Yes, flush glazing does further improve the appearance of coaches like these. A spray with satin sealer might prevent the ink from being rubbed away
Coat D'arms Chestnut Ink Wash is great for almost all kinds of brown aging on organic substances including bone, leather and wood and Citadel just released a Cryptek Armourshade Gloss might be worth if you're wanting a polished look.
The old Hornby teaks are much improved by lining the window recess in a neutral colour, such as dark matt grey. This makes it appear as if you're looking at an internal reflection, rather than a non-existent feature like a scale 10" gap twixt woodwork and glass. It really does deceive the eye. Another thing to remember is if you're modelling the wartime period, the roofs were painted black for obvious reasons. Nicely fettled.
I usually follow up any weathering with a wash of well-thinned Tamiya Matt Black. But, I don't generally weather passenger cars, just freight cars and buildings. The Tamiya does work well and gives equipment a kind of uniform appearance which is what I'm after with a train of a dozen box cars.
The opposite of dismantle is emmantle. The word comes from mediaeval times when having captured a fortification it would be rendered unusable by destroying its roof or mantle. Eventually dismantle became used for any disassembly process, not necessarily indicating that re-assembly was intended at a future point.
The first 00 coach I ever bought was one of these second-hand, I always thought it looked kind of basic so it's great to see the job you've done with them here! If you're still working on model railway things would you consider doing more videos?
Thanks for two interesting videos. I have two trains (one six coaches the other seven) of teak coaches. I'm currently experimenting with Citadel Serpia Seraphim wash and the result isn't too bad. This is another method for me to try. I've been told - although I don't know if it is a fact or not - that the Thompson teaks were actually metal coaches painted to look like Teak. Nevertheless I've given them the same treatment as the Gresley's and they look better for it. Once again, thanks for your videos. I've subscribed to your site.
Good job done, maybe for another project you could try doing a BR blue & grey Gresley Buffet with the lovely teak being unsympathetically painted in BR corporate livery and awful yellow plastic on the interior to give a very authentic late 70's look?
Agreed, with assemble only being for the initial assembly. One word which I hate, but seems to be increasingly used is disassemble - dismantle sounds so much better to my ears.

try using oil paint and a rake brush; with practice it gives a really nice fine grained finish

Try a short stiff wide brush, any art supply store has them- with them you can make a decent looking woodgrain effect. Nice job, I must say.
