This was a wonderful cover---at least for my ears---of the classic Ronettes tune; and like several covers done by Linda Ronstadt and Ann Murray, Andy Kim added an infectious 70s sensibility to a great tune---it makes me nostalgic for my childhood. There were just so damned many great pop songs wafting out of our car radios and little transistors: for my own life-experience, the pop and rock and soul gems from the 60s, 70s and 80s, were simply a glorious soundtrack to life and reminders of so many events and so many dear souls---family, friends, classmates......life would be a lot grayer without music, and thanks to UA-cam for being here!
Also, we had a Top 40 Pop chart with lots of variety: Rock n Roll, Vocal music, a little Instrumental now and then, R&B, Soul, a little Country here and there, and of course straight Pop music, including all the great "one-hit wonders." Today, radio stations are all niched out and more stations play less variety.

Andy Kim is awesome and I think he was really holding back his voice on his 60s songs, almost disguising it with the reverb and soft delivery. With "Rock Me Gently" he showed the richness of his voice and just how talented he was. I remember when "Rock Me" first came out, I didn't know it was him. I thought it was Neil Diamond. :)
To reiterate what Lindsey said, the lead singer behind Sugar Sugar as well as most other Archies songs was Ron Dante, not Andy Kim. Just search for Sugar Sugar in UA-cam and you will see him singing it. Also do a Google search and you'll see confirmation that Ron Dante is the Archies singer.
Ron was also lead singer on "Tracy" by the Cuff-Links, which was in the Top 40 at the same time as "Sugar Sugar" (late summer/early autumn 1969). The Cuff-Links were another studio group that Ron was in. Ron, Andy Kim, and Jeff Barry were close collaborators.
