Up to this point, Ahsoka didn't know Anakin was still alive, or what he did during Revenge of the Sith. She knew everything that Maul told her what would happen, but refused to believe her master/brother was capable of such evil.
She still doesn't know at this point, but her body felt something familiar.

@@willfanofmanyii3751 Its debatable. You can tell by her lines at the end of the episode and her facial expressions when she looks away from the group she clearly suspects more then she's saying. I always felt she was just in massive denial here.
@@digitaladventurer2142 She feels something is familiar here, but also that its off, way off. So she isn't lying when she says she doesn't know who it is, and needs to find clarity. We know as the season progresses that she gets more in denial about it, until its confirmed in 2x18.
"The Apprentice Lives" is a great Star Wars moment. I loved these episodes showed how much a badass and scary force of nature Darth Vader is

He focused on capturing the rebels instead of killing them after he found out ahsoka was there

Rewatching Rogue One after Rebels is really worth it. There are many nods to the show and even a special appearance by a certain droid ;)

To be fair, if Kallus had not followed Vader's order he'd be dead and then Vader would have just gotten someone else to do it.
Thank you. I was so puzzled why they didn't get that and was going on about how he shouldn't follow the order or at least should've questioned Vader's order. It's like they have no idea who the character Darth Vader is.

She feels Anakin but doesn’t want to believe that. And it’s thrown her mind into chaos because she doesn’t know anymore
I don’t think Ahsoka actually knows that Vader is Anakin at this point, but she recognizes his presence. She undoubtedly knows that he was once a Jedi she knew, but not Anakin specifically. His presence in the Force would have changed so she wouldn’t be able to know exactly who he was. That’s why so many other Jedi didn’t realize who Vader was.
Yeah, Anakin and Vader are two very distinct personalities and very different presence-wise. I doubt Ahsoka would straight up know they were the same person but like you say she'd definitely recognize Vader as being terrifyingly familiar
She definitely suspects it though. That look she had at the end of the episode says it all. Feeling his presence, plus thinking about what Maul told her about Anakin. She might still be trying to put herself in denial about it, but there is a part of her that definitely suspects it.
@@pauldavis5665 I’m not so sure. It’s like you said, she’s heavily in denial that it’s him, right up until THAT moment at the very end of the season.
Yeah, Anakin was bright, creative, confident to the point of arrogance but a definitively positive presence in the force. He had some anger, yes... but he was very much not to the same degree as, say, the raw hatred Darth Vader was.
It is James Earl Jones. He actually voiced Vader here. This was even before Rogue One(he also voiced Vader there).
Chris, thank you for pointing out what so many Star Wars reactors forget. Viewers know who Vader is but most of the characters don't.
I love how Vader is just ALWAYS A boss fight / Unstoppable Force no matter what hes in (Jedi games, Rebels, Rogue One). Very few Jedi/Sith can hold out in a fight against him

Both of these episodes are absolutely amazing
I love how Lord Vader imported his own physics model; everyone else is working off of "WWII aerial dogfight", and he's running "Semi-Newtonian space combat".
Most people dont understand why I like the animated shows more than live action, but just compare how much stuff happened in these two episodes compared to a Mando or Andor episode. In these 40 minutes we had multiple space battles, a rescue mission on Lothal, a lightsaber fight with VADER , a Lando subplot and there was character development between Vader, Ahsoka and the Emperor. In the same amount of time Andor had one breakfast and Mando killed one space monster.
Quantity does not necessarily equate to quality. After all, Rebels is geared toward kids, and Andor for adults. Rebels is very pleasing fan service, and Andor is grim "realistic" rebellion/insurgency-type plots. Both are great for providing a broad perspective of drama that the Star Wars universe desperately needs, and dismissing one for the other is a disservice to what can be possible for great storytelling. There's a reason Mando Season 1 is praised over subsequent seasons, because it wasn't trying so hard to be so tied in to eveything else going on, a la the Marvel Universe.
@@kleineblaueaugen i just prefer the sorter intervals between seasons and the increased freedom in animation, theres so many things done in animation that would frankly look goofy, look at the flash for example, taking the risk for cgi like that isnt worth it, its safer to pick an art style and animate it, something like andor, which is more grounded is definitely better suited to live action, but like imagine the entire clone wars show with the clones, it would be a nighmare to make that many clones and have them look good in live action, even the few scenes in revenge of the sith with helmetless clones were okay but adding all the unique tattoos, haircuts etc for the named ones would be a nightmare

The Obi Wan show takes place several years before this. Ezra and Leia are the exact same age, born within hours of each other. Ezra here is significantly older than Leia in that show.
They knew that trying to extract the Senator was a big risk but they felt it was worth it

I get Micky’s point, but at the same time there is always a danger of Imperials who are trying to come over or leave when they realize how bad the Empire is could either be lying to lure them into a trap or are being watched. All they can do is decide if the risk is worth it or not. This time they got burned. People being willing to accept these risks though is often they get Imperial defectors or valuable information that helps them in the future. We the audience know it is going to go bad because Vader is there. The characters in universe don’t know and have to take chances. If they don’t they will never win. Being too cautious could be as bad as being too impulsive.
The tracking device I think isn’t that bad either. Like Chris pointed out Vader didn’t activate it until they got back. They most likely did that because keeping it off means scanners won’t find it. Vader was good enough to add enough pressure on the crew that they were worried about escaping safely then to throughly search the ship for a possible tracker. Vader’s tactics made it seem like he was just trying to hammer them down that they didn’t even consider it was all a ruse until it was too late.
Ahsoka doesn't know what happened on mustafar.
The events of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series took place roughly 4 years before Rebels.

OH YES, there will be Rogue One references in this show, starting with this season really since they are now part of a bigger rebel cell.
Season 3 came out around the time Rogue One was shown in Theaters. Therefore that season has probably some of the most obvious references but there are already some amazing once in Season 2 if you know where to look.
BTW, there are also a few references (just a lot more hidden) to Rebels in Rogue One and also a few (even more well hidden) in Andor Season 1
I'm excited That you guy are into season 2 now. This season is full of characters development and references. In the next 4 episodes alone, we'll see relics of the C.W., a new red blade, and our favorite character from the Sertar sector. (If you know you know.)

Rebels is set 1-4 years before A New Hope with season 1 and 2 being 3-4 years before and the final season being a year before just to give yous a timeline

Rogue One takes place directly before A New Hope, this show takes place about 4 years before Rogue one, showing the ever growing Rebellion.

The whole culmination thing you guys are talking about isnt for the Imperial era, Its for the mando era between, Mandolorian, Ahsoka, The sequels, theyre basically building up a "Infinity War" style crossover with characters you may or may not meet here
Can we just acknowledge that this franchise is so well established and so detailed, that Vader in the middle of a battle, just turning his head, is enough to illicit a panic response? He didn't even need to say "The Apprentice Lives". That head turn was sufficient to convey that he picked up on Ahsoka
Why is Mickey soooooooo bad with the timeline? The only show happening in the Rebels timeline would be Andor and that's it. Because Rogue One & Episode 4 are in the not so distant future. All of the other live-action shows are taking place AFTER the Empire has fallen. And Obi-Wan happened like 10 years before Rebels takes place.

I'm so glad you finally get to see this. Rebels season 2 is pure hype!
The Ghost Crew didn't even know the existence of Vader. They went in thinking it was just Agent Callous and Tarkin overseeing things and something they thought was relatively easily handleable. They didn't know that the best tactician war hero veteran of the Clone Wars was on the board. It was just a dangerous but routine hot informant pickup and even though she was an unreliable source, they had to take a chance because the information would have been pretty eye opening to the rebels.
We have an omnipresent eye on things, but the Ghost crew are really in the trenches with blindfolds on. We know that they've been super, super lucky and fortunate that Tarkin and the Grand Inquisitor were the only Big Bads on their tail until now.
The crew running into Vader is like when Game Devs think its funny to put an optional endgame superboss in the starting area.
The storm troopers with orange shoulder pads I believe supposed be like what arc troopers were in clone war as in higher rank soldier
Not sure if anyone else pointed this out yet but Commander Sato's voice actor Keone Young also voiced Jeong Jeong in Avatar the Last Airbender and Jei from the 2012 installment of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
This is where the dark and cool shit starts to happen from this season forth
Vader is such a trump card for Star Wars. They keep putting him in new shows and movies and he's always as menacing as he has always been. It helps that they never try to humanize him or show that there is still Anakin somewhere in there. He remains a monster right up until he sees his son being tortured by Palpatine. That's why these shows and series are so good, they add to the strength of the original series, rather than taking it away (like the sequel trilogy does). When you go back and see Vader turn into Anakin in that throne room in RoTJ it's even more impactful now. It also continuously adds to the complexity of Anakin's character, and fuels the debate of whether he was truly redeemed even after RoTJ given everything he has done for the Empire as Vader.
Obi-Wan takes place 10 years before the original trilogy. Andor and Rogue one takes place during Episode 4. The Mandarlorian takes place approximately 5 years or so after Episode 6. Rebels takes place during the events of Episodes 5 and 6 as well as during the same time as the Mandalorian.

That was the brilliance of Vader's plan. He appeared in person to literally scare them out of a logical state of thinking so they wouldn't even think to check the shuttle for bugs. They just wanted to get away

Honestly, episodes like this make Darth Vader such a great movie monster. You know he doesn't die until Episode VI. In a true horror story, you can't fight the monster, only survive it. It also adds to the terror of Vader to know that he can survive a *walker* getting dropped on him. That's power.
