Brilliant video.. love the honesty about being inexperienced. I’ve done a few off road days and confidence only comes with experience. Also, great instructors.
They were really fantastic, I think the best instructors I've ever had! Really encouraging and never patronising, really gave you a confidence boost which is what you need when being pushed outside of your comfort zone

I grew up in Wales and learnt to ride on the beach, in fields, up the mountain and in the woods. I used to read Dirtbike magazines and took in all the tips about off road riding. 60mph over a boulder field is safer and faster than 10mph. I remember the Eurika moment when I tried it

Great training and impressed with your willingness to get out of your comfort zone. I have found that working on off-road skills has improved my on-road riding as well. I believe you develop more finesse with control inputs and overall balance. Thank you for sharing👍

That looked a good laugh Chopsy , great weather and scenery . Those adventure bikes look a real handful off road 😮 the guys from triumph doing the course seem brand new and seem to be very helpful . I can see you both already more confident 👍 pity womble doesn't have any change of gear as after a few of those descents it would be new pants required .😁😁

i wouldnt say i am a novice off road but i would so want a go and i am sure i could still learn somthing as its a ever developing skill off road for sure
Digging the colour scheme of your Triumph Chops.
Off road riding will make you a better rider for the road for sure, especially if the machine gets a little loose occasionally.

I’ve owned several of these large adventure bikes which I’ve used on gravel roads in Australia. Best was the R80GS. R100GS was too big and bulky off road.

This sort of training is so worthwhile. I’ve done it with BMW and Bret Tkacs and it gave me so many additional tools I can whip out depending on the situation and made me much safer.
Have to say though, you were getting some outdated advice by those instructors, such as you need to always be standing. That’s objectively bad advice.
Chops I definitely need the air conditioner , that’s more bike than I need for off road congratulations
I think you would be someone who would thrive on Off Rd if the UK had acess to dirt rd's like we have in SA/OZ/Spain.Cheers

The training is very structured, this was level 1. The big incline is level 2! Next time 😅

Offroad training for oversized and overweight bikes... that basically no one takes offroad. :D Make no mistake the vid was nice and fun.

We were supposed to go in April but due to thunder storms they had to reschedule. In the end as we couldn't find a date which worked they put on this special 1-1 session which was brilliant!

Good stuff Chopsy great to see Womble back and offroad I hope he doesn't run into any cliffs this time 😂 it's good to see you both straight on the bikes with progressive learning and the instructors were patient, positive and giving credit to help boost your confidence even with the very basic stuff which will probably be difficult if your a complete novice. I thought you both would've had a go at that steep decline though? Or do you have to pay extra for damage lol... I look forward to the next episode
They were brilliant so encouraging, highly recommended. The courses are very structured, we did level 1, the steep incline is level 2, next time 😅

If you look at thier website you can price it up. It depends what hotel you want, what level and which bikes. I think roughly with what we did about £750 including accommodation each. Excluding flights but including airport transfers 👍even included some meals in that!

In fairness, ADV techniques are quite often the literal opposite of what it is on the street. Last course I took (Bret Tkacs), they even split the groups up where riders who only had a street bike background were in the same group because we all make the same mistakes off-road.
