Hillenburg era SpongeBob had this "relaxingly surreal" vibe. So many episodes would start out with the premise "our characters are just relaxing, enjoying the day"
yeah dude, the creative director who took over after the spongebob movie kinda ruined the series. Spongebob while goofy, had a sort of maturity to it, the later seasons became toddler-level humor mixed with body horror for some reason. weird combo.

In my opinion it is THE greatest cartoon of all time, I am obviously biased since I grew up with it but even watching it back now I still see amazing things that I didn't catch as a kid growing up. I owe the creator(s) of the show so so so much.

My grandma recently died of stage 4 lung cancer a couple months ago but I remember in her last days this is all she would listen to. It filled the hospital room with a soft Hawaiian vibe and for a moment, it almost felt as if we weren't in a hospital. Almost as if she wasn't dying of cancer. This song will forever last in my mind as her memento in my life. Thankyou Stephen Hillenburg for all that you've done. You've certainly left a lasting impact on my family.

I lost my Mom to cancer 3 months ago... We used to love watching Spongebob together, especially if we had a bad cold or weren't feeling well otherwise; she always said it made her feel better. This music makes me think of her and all the happy times we had with the show.
aw, I lost my mom recently too, and she also loved SpongeBob. She didn't watch the show as much with me as my grandma did but she's seen enough of it to enjoy it. Her favorite was the "Sponge on the run" movie.

@@mrh533 I’ve seen gnomes with my own eyes. They are discrete though and hate being seen by humans. They live in forests and usually come out at night, they are very social creatures and are always sitting around a fire singing, telling stories and the like. The one I saw was very weird yet cute, he made a little giggle noise as he used some sort of magic and disappeared in front of me. I all of a sudden felt tired and woke up in the woods near a cottage, as the sunrises I felt happy, as if I had gained something. I felt like a changed man and looked inside the cottage, a note was on the table and it read “see you in the next life! Mere mortal”. I’m still not sure what that meant but I am yet to see another gnome. Sometimes I like to go into the woods at night and watch the stars and I can distantly hear that same gnome laugh and some gnomish language being spoken. Life is beautiful. You just have to find the beauty.
empty spongebob backgrounds, bubble sound effect, reverb's there but not too much. despite hating most of the "liminal" atmospheres out there this is surely one of the highest quality mixes on youtube, along with Nintendo 64 Jungle and Future Funk Nonstop. really fresh, fantastic work.
Sure the story writing, animation, and voice acting done for this series is phenomenal, but the music brings it all together. Many iconic music pieces have come out of this show, and it's proof the show would be nothing without the music. Kudos to the composers and songwriters.

What’s messed up is as soon as he died the people started doing things with his show he told them he never wanted to do. One of which was a spin-off show for patrick and other characters. But the one for patrick happened shortly after his passing and look how horrible that was. I feel like they waited for him to pass away so they could change his show in some ways thinking it’ll line up their pockets. That’s why in my mind the spongebob episodes Stephen made which I believe was up to season 3 was the real spongebob show everything else after his passing is a direct corruption of his show.

I don’t know why this hit so close to home. I don’t know why my gut tightened and a lump in my throat formed. I just miss being a kid… I just want to go off on my own. When I’m 18 I’ll move out and head straight to college. Get my degree and then I’m going into the air force. Serve for as long as I need to, and then retire in Colorado. I’ll get a big farm and two dogs. Live my life the way I want to with a donut and some milk in the evenings.
i'm 26 now, but spongebob was such a huge source of entertainment for me when i was a kid. while i haven't kept up with the shows newer episodes, it's always a joy seeing clips of old episodes popping up on your feed here and there. this soundtrack compilation really encapsulates an era of youth and bliss, which perfectly describe what spongebob means to me.
I am having surgery for a serious illness next week, and I will certainly be listening to this during my weeks of recovery. Thank you for blessing others with such a peaceful, happy, calming hour of music.

Before I moved to North America I used to live on an island 🏝️ near the Pacific . As a kid I used to wear shorts and shirts with tropical flowers like bikini bottom sky and watch a lot of SpongeBob. @@mrh533 I’ve seen gnomes with my own eyes. They are discrete though and hate being seen by humans. They live in forests and usually come out at night, they are very social creatures and are always sitting around a fire singing, telling stories and the like. The one I saw was very weird yet cute, he made a little giggle noise as he used some sort of magic and disappeared in front of me. I all of a sudden felt tired and woke up in the woods near a cottage, as the sunrises I felt happy, as if I had gained something. I felt like a changed man and looked inside the cottage, a note was on the table and it read “see you in the next life! Mere mortal”. I’m still not sure what that meant but I am yet to see another gnome. Sometimes I like to go into the woods at night and watch the stars and I can distantly hear that same gnome laugh and some gnomish language being spoken. Life is beautiful. You just have to find the beauty.

What’s messed up is as soon as he died the people started doing things with his show he told them he never wanted to do. One of which was a spin-off show for patrick and other characters. But the one for patrick happened shortly after his passing and look how horrible that was. I feel like they waited for him to pass away so they could change his show in some ways thinking it’ll line up their pockets. That’s why in my mind the spongebob episodes Stephen made which I believe was up to season 3 was the real spongebob show everything else after his passing is a direct corruption of his show.
